Super Sentai Teams VS. The Presence Of Negative Energy

So there's been a couple of seasons already which had a recurring theme of negative energy and positive energy. In Ultraman 80 and note I'm not an Ultraman fan, it was said that negative energy gave birth to the monsters in the show. It was also done in Kamen Rider Black RX where the Crisis Empire was apparently born from humanity's evil. In Kamen Rider Black, the "Creation King" of Gorgom claims he'll return as long as evil exists in the hearts of humans. I think Jaspion also had that idea of negative energy involved.

Let's talk about it in the world of Super Sentai. Super Sentai ends up as a franchise where a lot of ideas end up getting mixed and recycled. Sometimes, it deviates from the old formula for the new. Then we have the concept of negative energy getting into it. Some seasons had focused on the battle of positive energy vs. negative energy to a certain extent. While it may not necessarily be the running theme of the show but it's there for some reason.

Some shows did present it to a certain extent on the battle of positive vs. negative. Bioman as a science themed show showed the war between robotics and life as well as Bio vs. Anti-Bio but it was more focused on the misuse of science. Flashman was more on unethical science of Reconstructive Empire Mess and all about life. Then we had Liveman which was an issue of the misuse of science by Volt. Megaranger is another attempt to explore the science themes. But in this post, I'd talk more about Super Sentai teams whose enemies who were focused on using dark energy as a major source of power.

Beware! Spoilers ahead! Proceed at your own risk!

Hikari Sentai Maskman

This was probably the first Super Sentai that focused on the use of positive vs. negative energy. The first three episodes of Maskman had five martial artists gathered to help fight Tube. Tube's ruler Emperor Zeba masters the "dark energy" which he unleashes the Dark Holon to start turning the world into a dark, cold world. The Maskmen are required to unleash the Aura Power from within so they can destroy the Dark Holon. After the Dark Holon was dispersed, the show seemed to neglect the positive vs. negative energy theme or did it? Not really.

Maskman was a show that was full of conflict of positive and negative forces. The beginning shows the conflict between bigotry and non-bigotry with Igam and Ial. Then we have light and darkness. In the middle, Kiros arrives to be a real threat to everyone. Then it gives Takeru a real threat who would do anything to win. Takeru has his sincere pure love for Ial which is in conflict with Kiros' lust for Ial.

All the while, Emperor Zeba may be viewed as the embodiment of darkness in Maskman. He hates the Maskmen not only because they come in between his plans but because they hold the energy that opposes him. If Aura Power is light then he holds dark energy which he unleashes throughout the entire show's duration. He's probably viewed as the show's ultimate evil. As there are hints that he could actually be the legendary monster known as Lethal Dobler, it's also shown later that the monster was born in the Pond of Evil. Then it's shown he was born out from pure unadultered hatred of the original Lethal Dobler making him the embodiment of hate. Only when the Igam twins are reunited can he be destroyed.

Speaking of Igam and Ial needing to be one is there a message behind it? Igam was living her life not only in a lie that she's a man (but she knows the truth) but also in hatred for surface dwellers. She dishonors the Igam family name without knowing it. Igam and Ial had to reconcile, Igam was purified from her negative energy and thus gave enough positive energy to counter Emperor Zeba's dark energies. The Maskmen finally defeat Emperor Zeba with Aura Power after the twins managed to be united at long last. But Igam still felt she has so much negative energy so she became a Buddhist nun in the final episode.

Kosoku Sentai Turboranger

After Maskman, there was Changeman, Flashman and Liveman. Then we had Turboranger which was the first teenagers with attitude season. I might write an entry on how Nostalgia Critic might review this show or not. But Turboranger had its feature that may have made it into later Super Sentai seasons. Problem was Turboranger was where Soda really burned out.

The premise of Turboranger was that human misdeeds caused the Bouma to be unleashed into the world as we know it. So Emperor Ragorn appears as humanity's greatest threat as far as the show is concerned. The show was all about the Bouma's plan to attack humanity by attacking whatever positive it had. Zimba and Jarmin were represented by those who love to hate. Zimba's rejection by a princess made him the way he was. Jarmin for some reason does what she does. Ironically, Zimba would later sacrifice himself in Jarmin's place. Jarmin even got hurt to see Zimba die.

In the middle of Turboranger, we have the Nagare Bouma with Yamimaru and Kirika. The whole conflict shifts towards the two outcasts and redeeming whatever good they have left or is it? When Emperor Ragorn was supposedly defeated by Riki/Red Turbo in a one-on-one battle, the former survives the whole ordeal. Emperor Ragorn would later use the negative energies around him to become the mobile Neo-Ragorn. Underneath the Turbo Builder was also the destructive seal and the Bouma Palace seemed to embody negative energy. In the end, both Yamimaru and Kirika manage to redeem themselves as they live peaceful lives under their human identities.

Chikyu Sentai Fiveman

Fiveman is the lowest point in Hirohisa Soda's history. Considering he wrote all the way from Goggle V up to this show, it's understandable why he burnt out. So it almost cancelled Super Sentai back the. I guess that's a shocker for Fiveman fans like me. Enough of that, Fiveman does seem to carry that theme of negative energy in some way.

Fiveman's antagonists the Silver Army Zone has been destroying planets. With 999 planets that have been destroyed by their forces, Earth is destined to be the 1,000th planet and its ruler Empress Meadow will become immortal. In the early episodes of Fiveman, the Hoshikawa family are trying to bring life to the now dead planet of Sidon. As flowers bloom from Sidon, Zone troopers attack the very first planet they destroyed. Why this happened is not yet revealed until later episodes in Fiveman reveal there's much at stake.

The theme wasn't so carried out that well. Later, Empress Meadow for some reason was written off as some illusion projected by Vulgyre. I thought that was pretty much where Soda really ran out of ideas on how to get rid of her. So Vulgyre reveals he's been feeding on death and that destroying the Sidon flowers was because they're his only weakness. The reason was Sidon was the first planet he destroyed and by growing flowers on Sidon, they counteract his negative energy. Deep within Vulgyre is the real Meadow of Sidon. So Meadow is released from her captivity, her soul appears to help the Sidon flowers enable the Fivemen to destroy Vulgyre once and for all.

Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger

Zyuranger appears in the world of magic and mystery. The conflict of light and darkness takes place in many areas. In the first episode, Bandora is the master of evil magic while Barza uses good magic. The Zyurangers use their powers for good while Bandora uses them for evil. It's pretty basic there but there's more than to the show than just Bandora's idiotic but dangerous plans against children. She aimed to turn the Earth into a barren wasteland which would happen if the Zyurangers aren't united. Geki manages to overcome that negative emotion and get the Zyurangers together then Daizyujin was formed. The show's pretty ambiguous with Daizyujin to why the Zyurangers even control it when it can run on its own.

As the show moves on, another source of negative energy is with Burai. Well he's got that really maniacal evil laugh, he's evil at his own will and he's got a lot of envy towards Geki. This fuels the conflict as Geki realizes Burai is his brother. The whole "Green With Evil" arc is a conflict of light and darkness yet again. Wasn't it that the Hellfriede Sword was renamed as the Sword of Darkness in Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers? The whole fight between Geki and Burai for six episodes was a focus on such emotions. Geki's brotherly love for Burai manages to conquer the Hellfriede Sword. Burai's repentance of his wickedness causes a tear that destroys the sword. I'm led to believe that maybe, just maybe the footage of Red Ranger shooting the Sword of Darkness was deleted Zyuranger footage. Then Geki must realize that he must fight on regardless Burai lives on or not as the green candle shows Burai only has 30 hours to live.

The plot also involves Bandora actually worships the malevolent entity known as Dai Satan. The only way Dai Satan can be defeated is when all seven Guardian Beasts unite into Kyukyoku Daizyjujin. Then we have Burai's inevitable death where a child gets saved in his place. Burai wishes to die in peace but it also feeds negative energy to Dragon Caesar. Geki must help Dragon Caesar get over Burai's death. Then the finale also shows how the Zyuranger's victory over Dai Satan (who gets destroyed for good this time) also shows the triumph of light over darkness. Bandora even gets over her negative energy of hating children when for a couple of months later, Griforther and Lamie both had a son. The show remains ambiguous on Bandora's fate.

Gosei Sentai Dairanger

Dairanger's theme was focused on positive and negative energies as well as the war of the Dai and Gorma. Long ago, the war was fought and it returns in the 90s. The show features a lot and I mean a lot of references to positive and negative energy. I think the show even beats Hikari Sentai Maskman in that department. Now moving on.

The Gorma represent the embodiment of negative energy. Lt. Col. Shadam returns as the de-facto leader of the Gorma. He embodied pretty much a lot of negative stuff such as his neglect for his estranged wife and their two sons Kou and Akomaru. The Dairangers were focused on defeating the Gorma in maintaining balance between Yin and Yang. This battle would later fall out of hand when Daijinryu the peace keeping dragon appears threatening to even destroy half of the world just to get it to stop. The war escalates when the Gorma Palace appears with Gorma XV who's unaware of his role as a puppet emperor. Gorma XV is pretty senile himself.

So what negative energies are we facing? A lot and I mean a lot. We have Ryou's rivalry with Jin Matoba. Jin happens to be a martial arts master fueled by vengeance while Ryou is fueled by honor. Then we have Ryou vs. Shadam in a Ryu vs. Radiguet type of rivalry. The Ah My Goddess love story of Daigo and Kujaku also represents several forces. Kujaku had a falling out with Gara who became a Gorma. Daigo must also choose between himself and the rest of the world. In the end, Daigo's selflessness and choosing to save the world instead of the woman he loves promotes positive energy.

Perhaps what could be "White Light" in Dairanger is this. Kou appears as a perverted kid who's got the problems that on December 24th of that year, he could become a full-pledged Gorma. I always felt the whole "white light" in Dairanger showed Kou's path of redemption. His mother later performs a purification but at the cost of her life. Akomaru appears as his darker opposition. Shadam's willful neglect of his family is purely negative energy. Kou's decision not to follow his father's path and twin brother's path shows you can go against negative energy.

I felt like that Gara of the Gorma may be the personification of grudges. The real Gara appears with Kujaku revealing they've reconciled. I guess the clay Gara was actually the real Gara's grudges becoming an ugly grudge. It shows that until a grudge is destroyed there can't be any reconciliation. I guess at one point, half of Gara has forgiven Kujaku but half of her hasn't so maybe at one point Gara becomes two entities. Then that impurity continued to live in that clay body. As soon as the other Gara is destroyed, Kujaku and Gara return back to the afterlife.

Then I thought of the final ending of Dairanger. The whole Yin vs. Yang was that both were needed but the battle makes them fall out of balance. Master Kaku reveals he was Gorma and he plans to restore balance but Shadam doesn't want to. Shadam reveals he's been manipulating everyone and even revived Gorma XV as a clay puppet. In the end, the powers were given up yet Shadam reveals he's still the show's embodiment of negative energy. Ryou's pure intentions defeated him. So why was Shadam really just a clay puppet in the end? The reasons weren't revealed so I guess that one point, Shadam sought to cheat death so he prepared a clay body for himself. Was he punished by the gods into becoming clay in the end? Looks like the show leaves us to decide what happened.

Ninja Sentai Kakuranger

Kakuranger focuses on some positive and negative energy with its ninja theme. The show's recurring villains were the Youkai. The show didn't really get too much in that direction early on until the arrival of two key characters: Prince Junior and later Daimaou.

Prince Junior exists as the prince of evil ham in Kakuranger. He aims to release his father Daimaou into the world with some crazy rock concert. The Kakurangers seek to find the five scrolls that would form Kakure Daishogun. So after the Kakurangers manage to find the five god scrolls, Prince Junior gets desperate. He enlarges himself but he's inevitably destroyed by the newly formed Super Kakure Daishogun. But Daimaou is still unleashed anyway swearing to avenge his late son.

The finale later reveals that Daimaou is the embodiment of all negative energy in the show's continuity. Tsubamaru, Kakure Daishogun and Muteki Daishogun warns that destroying Daimaou would unleash all the negative energy into the world. The solution had the Kakurangers put him into a door and they sacrifice their henshin devices. I felt like it was a nice change for once. But I guess that may not go so well with Doug Walker/Nostalgia Critic should he ever decide to review it.

Gekisou Sentai Carranger

Okay it doesn't run on us as much as Turboranger but I can't deny how the show STILL had it running later in the series. For a good portion of the series, the Carrangers ran on Car Magic and the Bowzock didn't really run on negative energy. But some stupid festival where evil energy comes in turns Ritchhiker into a more powerful villain. But all of that wasn't the focus on the show until midseason.

So Carranger ends up having its own version of Emperor Ragorn in Emperor Exhaus. Hes' the negative energy that opposes Car Magic. He seeks to get rid of it because it stands in the way of what he wants. I guess getting rid of Planet Hazard was because that planet contained Car Magic Powers, something he greatly fears would ruin his plans. He would later try to get rid of it and even nearly got rid of it towards the finale. To finally get even, he absorbs all the negative energy around him allowing him to take his final form.

I felt like Carranger was weaker with addressing negative energy than Turboranger since that plot didn't progress until Emperor Exhaus came along. The only negative energy that the Bowzock were was that they're stupid and evil. But I guess Emperor Exhaus still used it to his advantage anyway. In the end, I guess Gynamo feeding Emperor Exhaus expired imo-youkan was an act that released positive energy. The Carrangers unleashed all their Car Magic to destroy the depowered Emperor Exhaus once and for all.

Seijuu Sentai Gingaman

The battle of Gingaman was between the Galactic Light and the darkness of the Bowzock. Some hundreds of years ago, the evil Captain Zahab was feeding on death by turning planets into jewels after systematically destroying them. Then the Daitanic turns into stone and the Barban Pirates were imprisoned on Earth. An earthquake happens so maybe some negative energy showed up allowing them to be freed. The Barban starts their attack but Captain Zahab would use his generals until they all ran out of subordinates to serve him.

The battle of light and darkness in Gingaman gets more focus after the Sanbash Arc. Budo seeks the Lights of Ginga to help revive the dark creature known as Daitanic. It also shows how the Barban's own dark and twisted nature has caused them to cheat on each other. During the Budo Arc/Lights of Ginga Arc, the arrival of Bullblack also shows the conflict of ideas. Bullblack wants revenge but the Gingamen want to protect the Earth. In the end, the positive energy of the Gingamen prevail over Bullblack. This also brings back Hyuga who becomes the second Bullblack. Then Budo gets betrayed by Illies. Budo decides to end his life in battle.

During the Illies arc and the Batbas arc, both villains sought to use destruction and mayhem to provide Daitanic the energy needed to be revived. Illies was soon destroyed which she was turned into a jewel to sustain Daitanic's rotting body. I guess Daitanic is sustained by negative energy in some way. We also had the Steel Starbeasts arc where the Gingamen managed to prevail over Biznella's greed and cruelty. The Steel Starbeasts become an important part of the Gingamen.

So Daitanic is destroyed but the Earthbeast is created. We also have the plot where Hyuga cooperates with the now defecting Pucrates. Pucrates may be a villain but he starts to show some positive qualities. Hyuga gives up Earth power so he could find a way to destroy Captain Zahab for good. This doesn't help so much as the Gingamen's energy is the one that defeats Captain Zahab. In the end, the positive energy of the Gingamen not only destroys Captain Zahab but restores life to the barren Ginga Forest.

Kyukyu Sentai GoGoFive

Fiveman started out the sibling theme then GoGoFive did it better. GoGoFive is a rescue based Super Sentai. Before that, we had Winspector, Solbrain, Exceedraft and Janperson in the Metal Heroes department. So what's the huge deal with GoGoFive? In 1999, there was the real life phenomenon called the Grand Cross in the Solar System. What happens is that the start releases the Saima Clan. The GoGoFive are using positive energy to battle the negative energy of the Saima Clan.

The show's events were also focused on the positive energy and negative energy of the GoGoFive. The first half focused on trying to get Grandienne to complete her bodily form. This is done by whatever methods to use negative energy to complete her. Thanks to the GoGoFive's efforts like forming the newly formed Max Victory Robo, they manage to destroy Zylpheeza. The process of interrupting the flow of negative energy causes Grand Witch Grandienne to appear as an incomplete version of herself. But she manages to use enough negative energy to turn the infant Drop into the Draconian Prince Salamandes. This creates more negative energy within the Saima Clan.

Grand Witch Grandienne is still focused on gathering enough negative energy so she can become more and more powerful than ever. What I assume is that events in the show started to gather more than enough evil energy for her. Towards the finale, she starts absorbing enough negative energy to complete her bodily form. After she's destroyed, she suddenly causes the biggest surge of negative energy ever. She revives her two sons Zylpheeza and Salamandes as destructive gods. Only a backup Max Victory Robo powered up by the positive emotions of the GoGoFive managed to provide enough positive energy to overwhelm her and destroy her for good.

Hyajakuu Sentai Gaoranger

Gaoranger is a pretty light season but it still addresses the evils of the human hearts. The Orgs are born out from negative emotions of humans. In modern day, the Orgs like the Youkai inhabit inanimate objects turning them into monsters. The Orgs start off getting "born" with the result of negative emotions like Shuten somewhat represents rage, Ura represents vanity and Rasetsu represents gluttony. The "Org Master" which is just a figurehead was created by previous Highnesses to procreate their kind.

The Gaorangers on the other hand are the forces of light. Their mission is to defeat the Orgs with their powers. They are the counterbalance and its their responsibility to get rid of that negative energy. Every time a disturbance happens, the sacred waters at Gao Rock react in such a way. The stronger the Org the bigger the reaction.

The concept of positive vs. negative energy seems to dwell heavily on Shirogane. Years ago, Shirogane became one with the demon Rouki. Shirogane's unity with the demon gave him power to destroy the previous final Org Highness but at the cost of his soul. So he appears as a walking conflict which Org Highness Ura tries to take advantage of. The Gaorangers lose a lot of their Gao Animals. Gao Rhino and Gao Armadillo show up to where the kick at the Gao Hunter's mouth purifies the mecha of all its evil energy. But Ura is a persistent foe. Gao Icarus was later formed destroying Ura then we have Rasetsu.

The finale arc reveals the arrival of the Org Heart. I guess the Org Heart represents the ugliness of the human heart. Yet, we also see Gao God decide to return the Gao Animals for the sake of a few people who are different than the rest. In the final episode, the Gaorangers' positive emotions manage to allow them to get their powers and Gao Animals back to defeat Ultimate Highness Senki and the Org Heart for good.

Ninpuu Sentai Hurricanger

I'd call this an attempt to combine Liveman and Kakuranger. I like Liveman better than this show at many levels. Considering it's a ninja show, there's been some concept of positive and negative energy with the show. The Jakanja has its leader Tao Zanto seeking the negative energy called the Evil Force. Tao Zanto has his followers known as the Seven Dark Spears to cause trouble to the world itself.

The Hurricangers are on the other hand using positive energy in some way to combat the forces of Tao Zanto, reversing everything he did. Later in the show, it's revealed Tao Zanto's been housing negative energy within himself. He takes advantage of Sandaaru's betrayal. Later in the finale. Tao Zanto even manages to revive the Seven Spears again. The Hurricangers battle him and destroy him with the Victory Gadget in a desperate battle.

Now only if I can see more of Hurricanger to further discuss on this one.

Bakuryu Sentai Abaranger

Abaranger tries to explore positive and negative energy yet again. The story begins with Asuka feeling to "Another Earth" from Dino Earth. Dino Earth was ravaged by Evorian and the Eldritch Abomination known as Dezumozoryla seeks to dominate the "Another Earth" where the story takes place. In the series of events, Dino Guts happens to be the positive energy that can defeat the Evorian. That's the belief held by the show's red ranger Ryouga Hakua. Many times, Dino Guts ends up accomplishing something beyond than what we can accomplish.

The show explores the use of Dino Guts for both good and evil when Mikoto Nakadai arrives. Mikoto is a season long evil Abaranger. No he doesn't join in quite early on. He exists as a cruel bastard representing the dark side of humanity. Even if he's human but he shows he can be more evil than the Evorians. He's a pretty cool dark villain who not only manages to cause real pain to the Abarangers but also to the Evorian. He's one cool villain who manages to add more game changes. He's so much of negative energy that the Abarangers can't take him down easily. He's even corrupted some Bakuryus to a certain extent.

Later on, we see that the evil Evorian god Dezumozoryla is still trying to complete himself. It's later revealed that Mikoto's wickedness was amplified because half of the evil god was within him. I just felt that as much as I'm a Boukenger fan but sorry, Sho Aikawa's direction isn't so good. I felt like Mikoto should have been freaking destroyed by the Abarangers. I like him better as a villain than a last minute "hero". But again, he's just got that selfish tendency to why he even went against Dezumozoryla in the first place.

The other battle of positive energy and negative energy is the love story of Asuka and Mahoro. No, Mahoro didn't end up like Maria in Jetman. Mahoro was brainwashed into becoming an Evorian general known as Jannu. The two were at odds but Asuka's love for her eventually prevailed in the finale. I felt like it was nice to have a happy ending for a change.

Mahou Sentai Magiranger

Okay this will be VERY SHORT considering you know how much I really hate this show now. The show ends up like a typical fantasy of battle of light and darkness. The Infershia is sort of the "Hell" of the series where its ruler N-Ma seeks to be completed by negative energy around him. But unlike GoGoFive, I find the way this show progresses to be not so very good. Plus, shouldn't Houka's inappropriate behavior be a source of negative energy. NEXT!

Jyuken Sentai Gekiranger

Well my extreme favoritism for this show is so manifest. Now I like Dairanger and Maskman better but Gekiranger still has its own set of charm. The story between two schools of thought namely Gen Juken and Rin Juken is positive and negative energy. There's a conflict that needs to be balanced. On one side, the Gekirangers remain true to what martial arts should be. On the other hand, the Rin Juken ends up using forbidden styles.

While it's not as good as Dairanger or Maskman but the show features a lot of conflicts. There's forbidden techniques, there's honor vs. dishonor and light vs. darkness. The Gekirangers are tested several times against the dishonorable methods used by Rin Juken users. The heroes win without stooping down to the level of their foes. In the Gekiranger Movie and throughout the series, we're actually seeing that Rio and Mele still have a sense of honor left in their twisted, warped minds.

Long appears midseason pretending to serve Rio and Mele. But in reality, he's the very person responsible for everything wrong that happened in the show. He's a badass immortal dragon who takes out his boredom on other people by making their lives miserable. He's shown that as far as the show's continuity is concerned is that he freaking cannot die. He seems to embody the scientific notion that energy is neither created nor destroyed. He's been there since then and he's the one who's causing negative energy.

The spirit of reconciliation between the Gen Juken and Rin Juken holds the key to defeating Long. While Long can't be truly destroyed but the Gekirangers managed to get rid of him in a way. The Gekirangers turn Long into a ball where he'll be incapacitated for a very long time. In the crossover Go-onger vs. Gekiranger, Long makes a temporary return but is still defeated anyway.

Samurai Sentai Shinkenger

Shinkenger for me is a good season but gets too much credit for many stupid reasons. It's the first Super Sentai series that had Yasuko Kobayashi as the head writer I've seen. Now I could start talking about this show where I'm starting to like it less. I still like the cast but as said, it's not as good as many people can think. But it still gets involved in the battle of positive energy vs. negative energy. The Shinkengers have had that battle with the Gedoushu for eighteen generations with the use of Mojikara.

The Gedoushu tend to return whenever there's a huge influx of negative energy. Perhaps that explains how and why Chimatsuri Doukoku returned in the modern day to start with. Doukoku plans to get the Sanzu River flooded to the surface world so he can conquer it easily. The Gedoushu are caught in between life and death. They can't stay too long in the world of light because they'd dry up easily. But some have managed to work on that weakness like Juzo and Dayu. They seek to cause negative feelings on the surface world so they can finally flood the Sanzu River up for their invasion.

The plotlines also involve Takeru/Shinken Red's pure motives vs. Juzo's thirst for blood as a samurai. Now I don't consider their battle as intense as Takeru/Red Mask vs. Kiros but it can't be denied it's still a conflict of forces. Deep within, Takeru struggles with the fact he can't reveal his real role in the Shiba Household until later in the series. Mako also battles with Dayu a lot as her personal rival. Mako is what Dayu isn't and vice versa. Dayu's despair would later be the key to finally completing the mission Doukoku wanted. Doukoku would later absorb Dayu into himself so he can finally be complete for the finale.

Speaking of the Shiba house, the 18 generations up to its real head Kaoru Shiba were dedicated to the sealing symbol. The sealing symbol was meant to seal Doukoku forever. But it failed because Doukoku had more negative energy than he had before. The Shinkengers' bond with Takeru as a friend was what ended up destroying Doukoku. As much as I felt that the Shinkengers managed to use their bond to defeat Doukoku but Kaoru not Takeru should have stayed as the head of the Shiba. Takeru's the best but I still prefer to think of him as a loyal servant to the princess.

Ressha Sentai ToQGer

Yet another show that gives me the "Oh no! No! Please no!" Yes this show has given me more darkness than the Shadow Line can ever generate. Okay, this is meant to be a fun show but I don't find it as fun as Go-onger or Carranger when it comes to giving us silly villains. The show has the Shadow Line taking over towns and the ToQGers restore light to every town they're in. I found it funny that Emperor Zed feels like he's the misplaced son of Lord Zedd and Rita Repulsa. Emperor Zed appears and tries to go against his nature of loving darkness even if it causes him cancer. The more I watch this show, the more I think I can't seriously take it. Sorry ToQGer fans, I really still hate this show until now.

Shuriken Sentai Ninninger

And yet another horrible season. It was good to try and use Kento Shimoyama and I was expecting something. While ToQGer failed because Yasuko Kobayashi was already like how Hirohisa Soda and Toshiki Inoue were in the earlier years. Ninninger probably has Naomi Takebe to blame. IMO, Go-Busters' weaknesses are to be blamed on Takebe just like I can blame more on Shinichiro Shirakura than Inoue for Kamen Rider Faiz's weaknesses. The show has the Youkai gathering negative energy to revive Mangetsu but a lot of the episode fails. I guess it's because of the bad writing of the show or bad production. I can't even talk further about it! UGH! A lot of the stuff just ended up watering down Shinkenger's concepts to such a new level of low.

Closing words

I guess that covers up a lot. But I still think I may have missed a lot. So what do you think of the war of positive energy vs. negative energy?
