Kiramager 16: Marshmallow Royale

Image
Well, this week's series is putting Tete Inoue to the test. One thing worth noticing is that the number of episodes written by Naruhisa Arakawa is cut short. I think it's good not to give Arakawa too much to handle. Fortunately, Toei didn't have Yasuko Kobayashi thrown into this crew even if she was the main writer of ToQGer. This episode is kind of weird with some science lessons. Just remember superhero shows have some scenes that defy simple science! This is a new half-brained plan. Carantula wants to eat HUMAN marshmallows so he sends Marshmallow Jamen to do the job. This reminds me of some toning down Super Sentai did considerably since the 2000s. Turboranger had the episode where Ragorn sought to have humans turned into dumplings and some rubber balls produced nightmare fuel. Here, the monster turns humans into marshmallows hence reducing the nightmare fuel. Though, the mere thought Carantula is eating marshmallows who use to be humans is still nightmare fuel....

Kiramager 15: Listen To Takamachi's Voice

Image
Well, this episode is written by Kaori Kaneko. She was a major writer for Lupinranger vs. Patranger (episodes 8 , 11 , 18 , 29 , 36 , 43 - 44 ) and Ryusoulger episode 10 ! Honestly, I've lost track of the episode writers already due to my bad habit of biting more than I can chew. Heck, I even forgot that Riku Sanjo wrote episodes 7 and 8 ! Anyway, this is an episode that makes me wonder is it even a good idea to assign different writers in writing the sixth ranger's introductory arc episodes?  The beginning features Shiguru on a movie set and it's a... J-Drama? I almost thought it's another half-brained villain plot. Instead, it's actually Shiguru's latest project and the guest star Maru Kiuchi (who just turned 18 some time ago) is his co-star Rikako. So, she's just a set-prop? An interesting note is that the guest actress is born of a Russian mother and a Japanese father. No wonder she has Caucasian features. This is really something when the Ki...

Kiramager 14: Kiramei Silver Joins In

Image
Well, it's good thing that Kiramei Silver doesn't easily join in either. I mean, Toei is forced to introduce new stuff after its necessary Legacy Virus Hiatus . Takamachi is still not yet ready to join them for a reason which will be revealed. Takamachi is still trying to get along with the others. Both he and Juuru go treasure hunting and find a newly-born Kiramei Stone. Takamichi just wants to ignore it. For Juuru, he wants to take it with them. The monster SL Jamenshi shows up and charges at them. I'm just reminded of Charge Man from Megaman 5 in this regard. Also, I think the ToQGers could've easily defeated this guy . The Kiramagers may have the ToQGer's imagination but not the ToQGer's charging techniques.  A flashback now reveals why Takamichi is a loser. Garza as his adoptive uncle lies to him that he can do things himself. This leads to a lot of hilarious hijinks. Meawhile, thee's the occasional nude but covered cast member in Su...

Kiramager 13: Great Battle Underground

Image
Last week's episode focused on the first arrival of Kiramei Silver . This week's episode really starts with well, the not surprising revelation that Takamichi is just adopted. However, there's something that might make you go bonkers. The opening has a bit of a nightmare fuel from past Super Sentai. Yup, it's a killer flowers plot  that would be very similar to what happened in Flashman, Maskman, Fiveman, and Zyuranger. The flowers here almost makes me want to sing the song "Little Shop of Horrors". Just where is Rick Moranis when you need him?! The Kiramagers discuss about the past details. They also have trouble accepting Takamichi into their team due to a grudge held bu Mabushina. No surprise, Takamichi is adopted. I wonder why didn't they decide to go for the human form and he's actually a Crystalian? It turns out that decades ago, the late King Oradin worked with Hakataminami's father. One day, Takamichi found a Monstone and wa...

My PERSONAL Review On Ryusoulger VS. Lupinranger VS. Patranger

Image
It's really something when a Super Sentai I like gets paired up with a Super Sentai season (or any show) that I dislike. It's happened before such as my dislike for Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger while I like  Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters or when Samurai Sentai Shinkenger got a team-up with two shows I really dislike namely  Kamen Rider Decade and Tensou Sentai Goseiger . Well, at least Goseiger got vindicated because Power Rangers Megaforce really shot itself at the foot big time! I also felt relaly awkward when Kamen Rider Drive had a crossover with Shuriken Sentai Ninninger - a show that only got "better" because Power Rangers Ninja Steel was even a bigger mess.  The same can be said for this tongue twister of a special Kishinryu Sentai Ryusoulger vs. Kaito Sentai Lupinranger vs. Keisatsu Sentai Patranger . I feel Ryusoulger is really a low-tier Super Sentai (sorry really) compared to Lupinranger vs. Patranger which for me was a very daring direction. The crossover movie...
