Kiramager 29: Somebody's Back...

Image
Last week's Kiramager was the tears for a new Bandai merchandise . Now, we see the Bandai merchandise in action. Also, somebody we thought dead is back in a new form. Now, read on and see who's back. Last week was written by Kaori Kaneko and this week is written by Tete Inoue.  Last week's episode ends with the Projector Gomoryu in battle. The Kiramagers are lucky that the monster overheats so they retreat. This doesn't work out so well for Yodonna's devious plot. Meanwhile, a petrified figure of King Oradin is discovered. So like the queen, King Oradin is ALIVE? Well, Yodonna shows how much of a bitchs he can get with what she does. She shows Garza the petrified remains of King Oradin. The Kiramagers enter into the world of Atamald which is just an illusion. It turns out as the ideal place where both Earth and Crystalia are in peace. Think of Dekaranger's world where aliens and humans are aware of each other's existence. Meanwhile, some nightmare fuel is sh...

My Random Rambling On Go-Busters And Beast Morphers

Image
Well, it's time for a bit of #ThrowbackThursdays. While I did end up getting disappointed or not even finishing several Power Rangers (Disney era) because it wasn't my cup of tea, I ended up not liking Power Rangers RPM seeing the hype to be just... a hype, I remembered how I nearly ditched Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters and other series after it because of some peer pressure rather than check it out myself, and I decided to check Power Rangers Beast Morphers to see how Hasbro would handle it. Why Saban's name was still credited alongside Toei Ltd. in the opening credits boggles me. So, it turns out that Hasbro was able to save Power Rangers with Beast Morphers. However, can they save Power Rangers with the upcoming Power Rangers Dino Fury ? Well, take note that I actually ended up asking the question later on if Toei Ltd. could save Super Sentai with Kishinryu Sentai Ryusoulger - a series I finished BUT I don't plan on rewatching.  So, it's pretty much another Yasuko Ko...

Kiramager 28: Shiguru's Tears For A New Bandai Merchandise

Image
This week's episode is the beginning of a two-parter. The first part has the mission to restore the Atamard Kirameistone. This week is also written by secondary writer Kaori Kaneko. I'm just wondering though if Naruhisa Arakawa is now given break periods as to avoid him from burning out?  The beginning has a bit of exposition. Juuru has a dream of King Oradin. We also have the key that will open a new dimension but what is this new dimension? Mabusheena wishes to see her father even if it's just a dream.  The fight is now against an invisible foe. It really makes me think about how the stakes are high. The invisible enemy causes the main mecha to crash.  As it figures out - Yodonna is up to her next scheme. For me though, she could've actually sent hordes of suicide bombers to finish the job. Then again, any sadistic bitch would want to prolong the agony of their foes - something that's always detrimental to them succeeding. The main Kirameistones are all out of shi...

Kiramager 27: Dashing Speed Sena

Image
Well, it's time for a Kiramager/Gekiranger episode. So, while it's really expected that Toei uses the multiverse format . Kyuranger episode 18 verifies the fact that most Super Sentai belongs to different realities just like the now-defuct Super Robot franchise by Toei. In this episode, both Miki and Natsume make a guest appearance as their characters - not as different characters. Though last we know, Kazue Itoh appeared in Shinkenger as Mako's mother and Sakina Kuwae guest-starred in Akibaranger's second season. What's also interesting is that this episode is written by Michiko Yokote of Gekiranger.  The beginning has Sena prepare for her speed test. Yup, as expected, SCRTC (pronounced as Scratch) is involved. Sena is doing some tests and yet she hasn't gotten any faster yet. It seems that most of the running scenes are done by actress Yume Shinjo by herself though I do feel a stunt double was used for the riskier parts. So, SCRTC is Sena's sponsor? Lik...

Recalling That Time When I Saw Them Japanese Bandai Toys While Mighty Morphin' Aired In The 90s

Image
The 90s were simpler times but also the times when the Internet was very limited and VERY EXPENSIVE. Who can remember the times of the dial-up Internet or when using the Internet meant you can't accept calls? It was also that annoying dialing sound and if you wanted faster Internet - you had to GO THE INTERNET CAFE. Well, we never had any Internet connection in our house until I was in high school. Then again, when we did, DIAL-UP CARDS which were very ANNOYING. The 90s was also the era of a lot of new stuff popping out. Being in the Philippines after the post-martial law years was something. New video games, new shows, new cartoons (which back then still had some quality check), and the rise of Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers was the thing. So, it was that time when Super Sentai got overshadowed due to the fact that the information age was in its infancy. I did just mention that dial-up Internet was still the thing before the Digital Subscriber Line came in, right?  Before Might...

Sentai Similarities: The Way Changeman's Ahames And Kiramager's Yodonna Get Introduced

Image
No matter how old an idea - somehow some of them tend to find their way into the modern age, right? It's just like no matter what age - innovation should always carry the 4Ds which are definition, discovery, development, and delivery. That is, innovation always has one thing in mind - it's not just a new idea but also making sure that the new ideas work and deliver good results. While watching Kiramager - I noticed that one old idea was suddenly fished way back 35 years ago namely Ahames from Changeman. Suddenly, the idea was somewhat modernized (though probably won't be as intense due to current censorship laws) with Yodonna in Changeman. Both of them are played by an attractive actress (though I wonder who Fukomi Kuroda is married to) and wear white wigs. Both of them carry a baton that can also double as a whip. Just because Hirohisa Soda hasn't been involved in Super Sentai that his ideas are gone. They have just been improvised over the years by writers such as Jun...

Kiramager 26: Create The Arrow

Image
Last week's episode introduced us to this new bitch, Yodonna. I wonder if we're going to get a Kiramager movie called Kiramager Versus Road because of the actress Nashiko Momotsuki? This episode shows all the more how ruthless the new field general, Yodonna, can be. At this point, I feel like I'm getting what I'd call a toned-down version of Queen Ahames from Changeman.  Yodonna is such a bitch. Okay, got away with it! Yodonna shows her frightening power by replicating Bomb Marrsk for her grand plan to open the canyon. She also treats the Muddites as disposable foot soldiers - something that disgusts Tametomo.  Meanwhile, the Energia Grantersone has shown its limits. Yes, getting yourself powered up can also mean your defenses lower down. Speaking of which - some people get more powerful at the cost of their defenses. Some fighting games do have that mechanic that you get a temporary power boost at the cost of something. The Monstone gets easily defeated as a result.  ...
