My Own Amateur Rant On Super Sentai Crossovers

Image
Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers became a hit in 1993 and got extended up to 1995. By now, people would've figured out that selected licensed use of stock footage from Gosei Sentai Dairanger and Ninja Sentai Kakuranger  was used while keeping 5/6 of the Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger costumes. Toei also produced the Zyu2 footage for Saban Entertainment to use. I'd like to do a bit of a rundown on the history of Super Sentai crossovers and how Power Rangers handled theirs.  Himitsu Sentai Goranger and Dengekitai JAKQ weren't part of the Super Sentai franchise until 1995. I'm glad Toei made that retcon in 1995 - the same year as Choriki Sentai Ohranger . Toei released some short films that barely lasted an hour. JAKQ vs. Goranger was pretty much like a "follow-up episode" instead of a movie that had 40+ minutes to an hour long. Yes, I'm going to keep saying it that the whole thing was rushed! JAKQ only having 35 episodes would make it all too rushed while Gorang...

Boonboomger's 12th Episode Make Me Ask, "Is Go-Onger Vindicated By History?"

Image
So much for claiming I'm snailspeeding Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger huh? The recent episode has Yasuhisa Furuhawa resuming his role as Sosuke Esumi from Engine Sentai Go-Onger . This episode also verifies that most Super Sentai entries belong to another dimension or Universe. It's best to treat Super Sentai Strongest Battle as just another crossover event. Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger should be treated as part of the VS. Universe or a year-long crossover.  Speedor mentions that he and his partner Sosuke came INTO THIS WORLD - referring to the continuity of the Boonboomgers. Go-Onger operates with the concept of Braneworlds. I may dislike Go-Onger now but it seems it's getting Vindicated by History. Sosuke was racing across different worlds and landed in the world of the Boonboomgers. Speaking of which, Go-Onger even had a 10-year-after special (which I didn't watch and I'm no longer looking forward to Super Sentai reunion movies) - something that the better shows before an...

King-Ohger's VS Films: A Short Film With Donbrothers, A Time-Travel Mess With Kyoryuger

Image
I dare say I'm still overly hyped with Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger that I'm slowing down on Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger . I finally saw the two movies Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger vs. Doubutsu Sentai Donbrothers (which obviously fits into the non-canon VS. Series unless Toei says otherwise) and what's intended to patch things up with the whole Kyoryuger is part of King-Ohger possible retcon . Some people are probably still forcing the narrative that a Super Sentai timeline supposedly exists .  King-Ohger vs. Donbrothers has me mixed since I do love both shows Should I be bummed up that this show was less than 40+ minutes or what? Doing some research may tell us some crossover specials in Super Sentai can be that rushed.  Himitsu Sentai Goranger vs. Dengekitai JAKQ was treated more like an additional episode for the latter. In Power Rangers - Power Rangers Time Force's crossover with Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue was just ONE EPISODE. The same happens here with King-Ohger vs...

Abaranger VS. Hurricanger: An Interesting Non-Canon Crossover While Dekaranger Aired

Image
For some reason, Super Sentai makes some non-canon crossover movies (and I wonder if some Super Sentai movies are even non-canon). It's pretty much like what Dragon Ball does by making a series of What If films . Sure, I usually tend to skip Super Sentai VS. Films these days due to them being non-canon. However, some entries were still enjoyable as a reunion film. The trend started with Choriki Sentai Ohranger vs. Ninja Sentai Kakuranger and became a yearly trend. The films were more like What If Scenarios. Ohranger vs. Kakuranger was already too obvious that it couldn't happen. The same goes with Bakuryu Sentai Abaranger vs. Ninpou Sentai Hurricanger . The film seems to fit into that imaginary Super Sentai timeline. Wendinu and Furaibijo apparently survived and met Dino Earth's legendary evil, Evil Ninja Iga. Iga was a member of the Space Ninja Group Jakanja. Okay, it does feel cool and he's almost way cooler than the rest. Iga fought with the Ryujins of Dino Earth. Ig...
