Domon's And Honami's Awkward Time Crossed Romance

Image
Well it's time for yet another friendly debate with Shogo B'Stard with his latest post . I may be a fan of Timeranger but no series is without its flaws. One plot I'm pretty mixed is the inclusion of Honami as Domon's love interest who appeared in Timeranger. While I'm somewhat a fan of the time-crossed, awkward romance of Tatsuya and Yuuri  -- I find myself pretty mixed when it comes to Honami and Domon as they are pretty much awkward. Honami appears in episodes 9, 11, 15, 24, 31, 36, 44, 48 and 50. Why she was given more screen time than there should be is unknown. Did they think they needed another love story aside from the rather kiss-slap-kiss relationship of Tatsuya and Yuuri? I tend to view this plot as to be one of the weaknesses of an otherwise great show. So what's the issue? Honami falls for Time Yellow, think she's Ayase and yet an experience with Domon out of suit made her discover Domon is Time Yellow. Weird? Yes, it's weird. I find ...

It's Timeranger For Toshiki Inoue's Episodes

Image
I thought I'd never resume with my friendly debate with Shogo B'Stard. Now I'd like to talk about episodes 14 and 22 in one post in contrast to what he did as of recent in his blog. Here's two episodes that may be worth or worth not talking about -- Toshiki Inoue is pretty much either hit or miss which can be seen in these two episodes.  Episode 14 -- Dead Heat Want some Inoue tropes here? Misunderstandings! Yes, that's almost the whole problem between Ayase and Mad Racer as well as the Timerangers. I think about some of Inoue's hit or miss humor in this episode if you consider the beginning. The argument between the Timerangers leads to Ayase getting his license suspended (for overspeeding) and I kinda wanted to strangle Domon in this episode. Ayase later figures out his friend Mad Baron has been de-compressed and has become Lila's personal bodyguard. There was some interesting background story for Ayase and Baron. He testified against Baron...

Lupinranger VS. Patranger Nombre 11: Movie Madness

Image
Bonjour to all my readers! Ses time for another Lupinranger vs. Patranger episode review and my French impersonation hasn't gotten better hehe -- I'll just keep le French minimal as to still make it readable and more obvious I'm just pretending to be a Frenchman in future posts. I'd like to do some more "French mode" posts until I decide to change my mind. I find this episode to be hilarious and creepy as the picture I've placed above.  Le beginning is somewhat breaking le fourth wall for ce reason. We think it's an actual fight but il isn't. Shouldn't il remind you that filming those those scenes isn't easy? I could imagine how many bloopers could happen if the out-of-suit doesn't happen right -- especially when ses almost really protocol in Super Sentai to fight foot soldiers out of suit before transforming. It turns out that le Patrangers are in a movie set. Ce reminds me of Timeranger Case 38 where le Timerangers enter...

Tatsuya, Yuuri And Broken Trust

Image
Looks like my friendly debate with Shogo B'Stard has resumed -- I just didn't feel like responding to his last article where he was doing an Ayase/Lucas comparison yet again. My latest response will be towards his latest article on Trust and Triumph  -- where I thought that Yasuko Kobayashi wasn't afraid of taking things too far. After all, wasn't Yuuri a bitch because of unresolved trauma ? She grew up seeing her family die right in front of her, she grew up alone and she wanted to become a police officer -- she wants to do everything right and she must face her insecurities. I do like how the simulation felt like it was an actual, real battle and later you get surprised into finding that it isn't. This has a bit of personalities discovered -- Tatsuya's easygoing facade and acting like an idiot hides his insecurities. Yet the other person who has insecurities is Yuuri herself. These are two episodes that involve the relationship of Tatsuya and Yuuri -- it...

I'd Like To See Another Time Traveling Super Sentai That'll Teach Kids History Lessons

Image
While I was having a friendly debate with Shogo B'Stard concerning Timeranger -- something entered into my mind while remembering some past seasons of Super Sentai where at least one episode had time travel. Flashman, Maskman, Liveman, Jetman, Abaranger, Gekiranger, Gokaiger (the Timeranger arc) and last year's Kyuranger had some time travel done. Kyuranger had episodes 29-30 as the time travel episodes. Now I thought about as Timeranger's DVD release is coming in -- why not try to look at an old concept and enhance it for this day and age? Kyuranger was able to give me the space themed Super Sentai I wanted to have, it's not exactly what I wanted to have but I enjoyed it for its "unique approach". So what's my current wishful thinking? If you've tried watching Time Bokan, Time Squad or Back to the Future then you'd probably have an idea of what my ideal Super Sentai is. Time travel was heavily done during Kamen Rider Den-O though IMO it was...

Time For A Lighter VS. Darker Shade Of Red

Image
Well the friendly debate still resumes itself while Shogo B'Stard decides to do another two parter ( Part 1 and Part 2 ) -- I'm going to do a one part reply once more. So let's get started, shall we? I thought about it that maybe Tatsuya IS my favorite character -- Naoto may have ended up as my second favorite character. It's almost like how I had Ryu as my favorite Jetman member -- whilst Gai becomes my second favorite in said show. Again, spoilers ahead to read at your own risk! I'd like to bring some arguments about 6th rangers during the 20th century starting from Zyuranger up to Gingaman. We can take a look at Zyuranger where we had Burai/Dragon Ranger first appear in episode 17 and Kou/Kibaranger first appeared in episode 17 of Dairanger. Riki first appeared in episode 26 of Ohranger -- same went with Hyuga's return when he becomes the second Bullblack in Gingaman. But in the case of Timeranger, it's episode 28. Yup, it's the latest one and t...

Timeranger For A Massive Foreshadow

Image
I was reading through Shogo B'Stard's entries and yes folks -- the friendly debate has resumed between me and him. I was reading his two previous posts namely Time For The Time Shadow  and Time For Future Unknown . Hmmm... I kind of find it funny that he should be raising up two writers I believe get tons of praise even for all their mistakes -- Yasuko Kobayashi and Judd Lynn -- both writers who have hit massive burnout after some time of getting praise from their respective fandoms. At the same time, he mentions about pacing which IMO is one of my issues with Power Rangers in general. Do you remember how Saban's usually had an average of 40 episodes or that Disney's rushed era had only 32-38 rushed episodes? I just feel like the super rushed seasons or the 40 episode format can be such a "Huh? That it?!" -- though I did feel that after watching the hit classic Metalder which was cut short probably due to budget constraints. Now moving on the topic of ...

Lupinranger VS. Patranger Nombre 10: Le Ice Gangler Arrives

Image
Bonjour readers!  Last week did have a rather depressing end. Le Lupinrangers are wondering how ils (they) are going to get leur wish to come true considering that a Lupin collection is supposedly destroyed. Okay pardon all the French words here but I kinda like throwing in French jokes so I'll pretend to be a French guy whenever I write a Lupinranger vs. Patranger related post! Nous see a scene where Keiichiro (who's still unaware of the true identity of le Lupinrangers) offers a drink to Kairi. Kairi then overhears of le Gangler he was waiting for -- Zamigo Delma! Cette becomes le plot for le day. Umika is trying to find fragments that could have been there but there's none. Le Patrangers also are concerned to why Medou didn't show up. It also had me wondering. It turned out it was a brilliant such a brilliant escape tactic. Meanwhile, we see more shipping for Umika and Sakuya. At le same time, Kairi overhears some students talking about a weirdo who c...
