The Literal Brain That Rules Over An Evil Organization? (Spoilers)

Super Sentai might be a Japanese franchise but it has copied from American pop culture. Nothing's completely original. Toei Ltd. created a Japanese Spider-Man in 1978 based on a Marvel license. Getting inspired by American pop culture isn't surprising either! One of the craziest things Toei did was to create a villain that was a LITERAL BRAIN! The concept was never revisited probably due to it being way too bizarre or just plain unpopular.

Earlier Super Sentai has a lot of strange plots aside from crazier violence. Taiyo Sentai Sun Vulcan (a show probably hit by the Super Sentai curse if it ever exists) had its frontman Hell Saturn. Hell Saturn was already hinted to have been answering to a higher power. However, this higher power never revealed itself UNTIL the finale. He was either called the Omnipotent God of Black Magma or the Black Solar God. What made it ironic was that Commander Arashiyama deflected its own blast at him -- destroying him. It was a 1980s show after all.

Going beyond looking at Super Sentai and Power Rangers helps. One may find out about the DC Comics villain The Brain. There will always be some things that NEVER make sense in a superhero show. Superman and Santa Claus are both fictional heroes that defy science Up to Eleven. The Brain is a LITERAL BRAIN. The Brain once had a body but lost it in an explosion. I wonder why Sun Vulcan never gave Black Magma's true mastermind any backstory. Instead, the Black Solar God was simply seen as a DISEMBODIED BRAIN. No backstory was given! It was older Super Sentai so we can expect villains are just there TO BE THERE. 

Should I be surprised that Power Rangers SPD actually decided to give The Brain another tribute? Sun Vulcan copied the concept from The Brain. This character was named Omni. Omni had a frontman in Emperor Gruumm -- one who supposedly led the organization but was answering to a higher power. I still think he's (or it's) an improvement from the Black Solar God. Omni achieved his final form known as The Magnificence -- something overlooked in Sun Vulcan. However, Omni's true origins were never explained either. Omni was a hidden evil force that ran everything BTS like Black Solar God did. It was good that Disney didn't give him the pathetic death that the Black Solar God had in Sun Vulcan.
