Sentai Series I Feel Were Inspired by Role Playing Video Games

Image
I feel like a few series in Super Sentai were probably inspired by the RPG (role-playing game) genre one way or another and here are they: Turboranger despite the theme of high school students' challenges had some enemies that were typically from an RPG game. Zyuranger is kind of close. Despite the dinosaur theme, the show also focused on mystical weapons rather than technical ones taking the story back to an ancient war. In fact, I find Bandora to be a typical enemy found in RPG games. Dairanger well is almost like Chinese-based RPG. I feel like Koei must have been popular by that time. This one featured not only martial arts but different uses of ki power against the enemies. Kakuranger well.. a Japan-based RPG. :-P Gingaman was yet another. This time, series itself involved spell-casting among its members in battle. Gaoranger in itself had an RPG-like concept with Gao Rock, the Orgs and their mentor Tetomu. In fact, collecting the power anima...

Chinese Celebrities I Think Who Have Sentai Celebrity Look-Alikes

Image
I think the following Chinese celebrities do have Sentai look alikes. They are: I think Ambrose Xu kind of looks like Ryosuke Kaizo. I think Jaycee Chan kinds of resemble Hiruta Kazunari. I think Pace Wu resembles Kanako Maeda but she's hotter. I think Jerry Yan resembles Tetsuji Tamayama. I think Kaoru Aba resembles Jason Hsu. I think Vanness Wu resembles Tomokazu Yoshida. I think Rainie Yang resembles Rika Sato. You may also want to see: Filipino Sentai Look Alikes Sentai Look-Alikes I've Met Part 1 Sentai Look Alikes I've Met Part 2

Some More Older Sentai Senior Photos

Image
Here are more rare finds of older Sentai cast members in their older photos. Ha ha. Too bad we don't know much of what they're doing. Here's a reunion of Ryosuke Sakamoto and Michiko Makino. Time has already passed on them. How old are they now? If I'm not wrong, they look like they're in their 50s already. Hikaru Katsuragi despite her aged self still looks recognizable for some reason. On the other hand, Ryosuke Sakamoto has gained a LOT of weight. I really wished Michiko Makino would have played as the mother of Ran in Gekiranger or as Mako's mother in Shinkenger. :-( Women do age faster. :-( Ryosuke Sakamoto with other Sentai alumni. If you know who they are, please comment. I wonder why we don't see these guys guest star as parents in Super Sentai? Keijiro Shiga who acted as Baraba in Maskman. I really wish he'll appear as a villain in Goseiger. Yuko Asuka the woman we know who played as Farrah (at the left) and if I'm not wrong, with...

Types of Sentai Fighting Scenes

Image
So far I think Super Sentai has some types of fighting scenes we can notice. Here are some of them: We have the traditional flips and kicks in a fight, whether in suit or out of suit. In fact, doing all the tumbling, back flips and rolls make a fight scene good.  Of course raw fist fighting accompanied by kicks is really cool in Sentai, it's the most common stuff that fuels the fight scenes. Maskman, Dairanger and Gekiranger really had all those fists of fury which almost equaled the majesty of Chinese action cinema. It happens usually with civilian fight scenes then transitions to suited scenes. Air combat and jump kicks are another way of fighting. We have the classic self-defense grabs used. There are also motorcycle stunts which was very prevalent during the 90s sentai when motorbikes were frequently used. Lately there hasn't been much of this for some reason. We just can't do without a good old one-on-one battles can we? In fact, despite it being cliche...

Sentai Acting

Image
The fact is Super Sentai has a mixed variety of actors and I think I can classify them as: The inexperienced ones at the start cast members- They are the ones who usually play as the rangers/warriors in the show. I think it has to do that MOST of the time is that these cast members are usually newbies so they really don't know how to act better yet. Some of them had been guest stars previously in other Tokusatsu for one episode prior to their main cast inclusion. However a classic sentai case happens that when they shift from "below par" to "good" because it seems Sentai gives them a classic edge if they ever want to enter into the action cinema. I think it's just appropriate though because the show features young heroes so we can't expect their fighting to be that awesome all at once. :-P Some newer cast members in Sentai already had acting experience prior to their Sentai roles. For example, Toshihide Wakamatsu can really act Guy Yuuki well, in fa...

What I Think of the First Episode of Goseiger

Image
The fact is as Goseiger started yesterday but I was too tired, I'll write on what I think. This picture gives the feeling of Dragon Quest IX or Final Fantasy. Woohoo! I wonder if Squaresoft took part because it seems to have the RPG feel unlike previous Super Sentai. I think there's not much action yet but I hope they get better. I just wonder why they are called "angels" if they are according to Wikipedia a "race of humans"? Boggle... boggle... Honestly speaking after reading the latest update on Dragon Quest, the story seems to have inspired Goseiger. I don't play computer games as much as I used to except for fighting games like Tekken 5 on the PS2 against my cousins or my sister. Also it gives me the feeling of Final Fantasy so I expect myself not to like the series easily because I'm not much of an RPG fan. The first episode was kind of a modest effort and I believe it can do better. One part scared me though- it was the part where the b...
