Similarities I've Observed Between Gingaman and Shinkenger

Image
While watching Gingaman (hopefully I'll see more subs soon), I have noticed the following similarities between both series aside from Yasuko Kobayashi being their head writer, the color arrangement of the first five rangers and the animal motif.  So what's in common between them even if there's some character uniqueness? Both the Gingamen and Shinkenger inherit their legacy by lineage.  Shinkenger has 18 Generations and Gingaman has 133 Generations of ancient warriors who protect the Earth with elemental powers.  It's lineage based for both teams who use the inner energy within them.  The Gingamen have Earth Power, the Shinkengers have Mojikara.  They are also a team of swordsmen. Now to take a look at other similarities: Stand-in Red Rangers for the real red rangers.  Shinkenger had Takeru Shiba as a stand-in decoy for the real 18th head, Kaoru Shiba who is the true Shinken Red, he is a decoy Shinken Red.  Gingaman had Ryoma standing in the p...

Sentai Badass Moment: Ryoma Recovers the Starbeast Swords in Gingaman Episode Five!

Image
Now I'd like to share my opinion on what is one of the best moments in Super Sentai.  While watching some Gingaman, I am now about to put Ryoma/Ginga Red as my second favorite Kobayashi Red... while I still think Tatsuya is her best red ranger.  I'm looking at you Fantasy Leader. =)     In this episode, Sanbash seeks to recreate the Dark Sword so they an free Daitanix from its seal.  Rigorou was stealing some weapons and he wanted to also keep the Starbeast Swords for himself.  In this episode, it's revealed that he stole the Kiba Blades too. What makes this a badass moment in Super Sentai is this.  He struggles not to let the sword go.  I can understand why he feels that way.  After all, his brother supposedly died in the first episode.  I would also do the same if I were in his place. Hmmm being caught into a monster... how crazy is that?  And he shows he's not easily taken down.  The next scene just gets even ...

Is Captain Ryuya a Villain or Just an Annoying Douchebag?

Image
Timeranger itself has Ryuya who some may say is the real villain, he is a villain or not a villain. I'd like to beg to differ and have my view point that he's more of that annoying douchebag than the main villain. Let me explain my stance. In my own opinion, Dolnero is still the main villain of Timeranger while if Ryuya is a villain, he's a sideline villain though my stance is that he is just that annoying douchebag. Now how do I really explain my stance on Ryuya? This is one of Yasuko Kobayashi's masterpieces which provides a rather complex plot in the series. Now I'm not all that surprised considering his ancestors Wataru and Wataru's father were also douchebags. Wataru was a victim also of his own father's manipulations so don't be surprised that 1,000 years later, they will have a descendant who will manipulate time itself. Why the Asami company ceased to exist in the year 3000 is never explained... maybe it went bankrupt. But let's think of R...

Silly Confession: How I Feel Mako Shiraishi Fills My Kimberly Hart Nostalgia Void!

Image
It's no denial that I'm a Mako Shiraishi fan although she's definitely NOT top-tier like Yuuri, Lin and Momoko though I find her better than Saya. The whole event started with Samurai Sentai Shinkenger, my first Super Sentai series I saw from start to end with Yasuko Kobayashi as its headwriter. She's still in my list of favorite pinks . I cannot deny that until now, she's still in that list. As of late, Mako went down from my first favorite Kobayashi pink to my second favorite Kobayashi pink thanks to Yuuri/Time Pink. Just a bit of background for a start. I would admit that I did return to Sentai because of other girls like Nanami, Ranru, Jasmine and Sakura and my favorite from that list is Jasmine. But I cannot deny that even Jasmine didn't really fill my void. Now I wonder why for some reasons did Kimberly stick into my head like glue. Even after seeing Megaranger's Chisato, I still think Kimberly's hotter. Then after so and so, it just got dumber...

Sentai Badass Moment: Ban's Explosive Entrance as Deka Red!

Image
Okay most of the scenes here are not the actor but the stuntman but hey, it's still awesome right?  Let's get it moving!  This is one of the most badass red ranger entries ever! Ban is one dedicated SPD Red Ranger.  He would never skip an obstacle course and this scene shows even at episode one, why you can't mess with Ban! Revealig that he is Deka Red, he prepares to take on the Anaroids and the Batsuroid leading them. He shows his bare fist combat. I would admit this scene was copied into Power Rangers SPD but it was more fit for Ban than Jack.  Ban is one badass red!

My Personal Fanboy Opinions on Kimberly Hart and Rishiya Princess Mei as a Super Sentai Fan!

Image
It's no secret anymore I like Zyuranger better than Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers and that I wish the latter ended in just one season. Now I'd like to discuss about my personal opinions on Kimberly and Mei. Knowing I've seen MMPR first, I would discuss about Kimberly though I may limit her discussion most of her first season since Mei was a season long only character written off with everyone in the finale. Kimberly It's already obvious my favoritism for Kimberly is wide open, it's no secret. I liked her a lot for shallow reasons. So it's no secret and I've stated it too many times that I watched MMPR as child because she's really hot. It's no secret that I consider her hotter than any Super Sentai or Power Rangers girl... though due to time, Mako gets the crown for me. For a bit of background. Kimberly is portrayed as the hottest girl in high school although the actress was 23 years old but looking young. She is best friends with Trini. S...

Crack Pairing Kenta Date With Chisato Jougasaki Is My Guilty Pleasure With Megaranger!

Image
While watching Megaranger while there was zero attraction between Kenta and Chisato (they were just friends) but I thought that they can be ship-teased and it's more of Kouichirou/Chisato shiptease (but it never became a relationship either).  So much for me making a warning MUCH earlier not to attempt this. Episode 9 felt like a bit of Kenta/Chisato tease than real pairing.  So while I can't really say, "Hey they're lovers already." but it was kind of funny. I thought the interaction between them for the episode felt like they could work out. Although Chisato is attracted to Kouichirou and not Kenta and Kenta's not attracted to her, I felt like the series was teasing everyone. Episode 11 had a minor shiptease... nothing more. But I really wonder what was Chisato's reason for putting the box lid on Kenta's head? XD Episode 23 is for me, another potential shiptease. While Chisato just plays the concerned friend, it's funny how she would go...
