I Still Find Jasmine's Marriage To Hikaru To Be Extremely Awkward

Image
It's no secret that there's an upcoming Kyuranger vs. Space Sheriff movie and I thought of the Gavan vs. Dekaranger movie . These movies seem to connect to the Dekaranger 10 Years After Movie which I didn't enjoy and I hope NO MORE ten years after movies. Now it's time to discuss about the really WTF screwed up coupling that happened in Dekaranger. Ayumi Kinoshita's marriage left broken hearts and they were most likely coming from children below ten years old (Reminds me of crying over an actress when I was that age!). Now, I'd like to discuss the whole WTF moment where Hikaru Hiwatari became Jasmine's husband of ALL PEOPLE! I guess Naruhisa Arakawa is already heading towards Burnout Ville since 2014 with how things turn out. I thought that Sen and Umeko should have already been married off-screen. Seeing them marry in Gavan vs. Dekaranger makes me want to cry because the wedding didn't happen MUCH earlier. Then we have the whole idea where Jasmine m...

Wishful Thinking: Satoru/Masumi/Sakura Love Triangle In Boukenger

Image
After watching Lupiranger vs. Patranger's first episode that I have my Boukenger hype all over again. But since it's Valentine's Day -- I decided to write this post on what Boukenger may have needed IMHO though some fans may disagree. So what's my latest view? I decided to rewatch some Jetman episodes that focused on the whole Gai loves Kaori but she loves Ryu and Ryu loves Rie scenario. But would such a similar scene work in Boukenger? I remembered a couple of times I did some Jetman/Boukenger comparisons -- such as comparing the rivalry of Satoru and Ryuon to Ryu and Radiguet or Satoru and Masumi have a Ryu vs. Gai rivalry minus the love triangles. So I thought wouldn't it be "fun" to throw Sakura into the picture? She's from a rich family and she joins the Boukengers to escape her boring life -- and I felt like she needed an episode where she has a snotty fiance that Masumi beats up. But that might only happen if Toshiki Inoue were one of its ma...

How Many Arsene Lupin-Related Literature And Media Have You Tried Reading Or Watching Before February 11, 2018?

Image
As I watched Lupiranger vs. Patranger -- I want to suddenly ask myself and readers this question, "How much Arsene Lupin-related media have you read or watched anyway?" The answer may be very few considering the age of the Lupin novels and films. I really don't get surprised if not everyone is all too interested in watching old school media while they may enjoy reading classical literature at the same time. The same may go for the Lupin-related media. The story of Arsene Lupin goes back to the way to the books of Maurice Le Blanc. They are very much classical literature so I can understand why some new school fans haven't even heard or read them -- and even not take interest in them at all due to the generation gap issues. Then we ended up having decades later adaptations or alternate continuities. Heck, I'm even not surprised that there were Arsene Lupin films during the 1930s to 1940s as well as a couple of TV series -- such as a 1970s TV series based on Arse...

Lupinranger VS. Patranger Number 1: The Phantom Thieves Continue Arsene Lupin's Legacy

Image
Yup the story of Arsene Lupin continues. I think this Super Sentai series may be one wacky adventure that may exceed the Boukengers and Gokaigers in treasure hunting as they have to face the Patrangers (probably the show's parody of Dekaranger). Let's get started shall we? The scene begins with a gambling scene. I kind of wished that Toshihide Wakamatsu of Jetman made a guest appearance as the human form of the Gangler. One priceless treasure is manipulating probability harassing people. Worse, there's even organ harvest involved (off-screen) and the Lupinrangers come in crashing! Yup, things will get ugly. The opening scene is really one amazing piece of art with CGI. Personally, I wish they were firing bullets instead of lasers for a bit of retro feel but I guess we can't help but use lasers. The Lupinrangers defeat the Gangler monster after they get the treasure. I personally wish we've got the Boukengers to check the Hazard Level here. Hehe. But...

Winspector Up To Janperson Are Making Me Like The Rescue Ops Super Sentai A Little Less?

Image
I remembered writing on how Winspector, Solbrain, Exceedraft and Janperson felt like " prime time shows for older audiences rather than kiddie shows ". I still can't get over how I thought Janperson is a better show than the Robocop TV series (which came after Janperson) or how it's Toei's tribute to the Robocop movie trilogy. Before that, there was also the Rescue Police teams namely Winspector, Solbrain and Exceedraft. So how are these shows making me think less of certain Super Sentai seasons that I also like as my personal favorites? So what favorite seasons of these are getting affected in some way? I would say these are GoGoFive, Timeranger and Dekaranger. I saw Dekaranger from start to end first then GoGoFive and Timeranger. Sure, I do like those seasons but watching Winspector, Solbrain, Timeranger and I'm currently watching Exceedraft's releases from Sailor Otaku. Also, I'm waiting for more of Janperson's subs since I can't wait to ...

My Latest Concerns While I'm Getting Excited For Lupinranger VS. Patranger

Image
It's no secret that I can't wait to see Lupinranger vs. Patranger -- how can we have a Super Sentai series that's two-in-one while both sides can't work? I gave consideration that right now -- I'm not that huge into Toku in general as much as I used to. Sure, I finished Kyuranger this year AND I'm watching Kamen Rider Build -- but I may end up taking Toku breaks out of taste fatigue . Not to mention that I'm also getting more into Korean Drama and maybe more Taiwanese drama (I haven't watched for a long time) while I'm still watching the latest installments. I ask myself after realizing (again) that making episode reviews isn't easy. Am I going to write weekly episode reviews (and still, I won't talk about toys or merchandise since I want to introduce more "original content") or am I going to do what I'm currently doing with my Kamen Rider Build updates -- that is I'm going to only give reactionary updates when I feel lik...

Kyuranger 48: The Universe Is Saved And The Upcoming VS. Space Sheriff Movie

Image
It's the final episode and this is the final chapter of the legend of Kyuranger. Well, I think the whole ending was revised several times to avoid ruining the fun. So how did it end?  The Kyurangers are at their most desperate moment. It's a fight between them and Don Armage absorbing plenty of people right into him. This is the real fight for the finish. They won't go down without a fight and it's going to be one legendary battle in some way.  As figured out, Don Armage isn't going down without a fight. He's ragged around like a doll yet he fights back. He reveals he's got power over all the negative energy of the Universe. Wait, doesn't that sound just like someone way back in 1999? Yup! Don Armage is born from negative energy personified. It's almost a throwback to Grand Bitch Grandienne in GoGoFive. He was born out of despair and the time lapse that took him to gain consciousness is unknown. But that's one terrifying thought ...
