Go-Busters VS. Beast Morphers: Weakpoints Compared

Image
Power Rangers Beast Morphers released its second episode where the weak points of the Beast Morpher rangers were shown. Now I'd like to do a bit of throwback to the Go-Busters' weak points as a response. So what's the big deal with weak points? They did get civilian superpowers as a result of altered DNA (the first one had it way back in 1986 with Choshinsei Flashman) from many years ago. On the other hand, the Beast Morphers team had them only in the first episode as part of an experiment to create newer Power Rangers. Hiromu Sakurada/Red Buster Hiromu's civilian superpower his his super speed and agility. WHat causes him to break down is his psychological fear of chickens. It wasn't explained why it happened until Go-Busters revealed it was a childhood trauma. He was brutally attacked by chickens as a child causing that phobia. I wonder is the freezing also a result of the DNA alteration or not? I guess the fact that his muscles tend to move faster than usua...

Super Sentai Strongest Battle Final Week: NEVER MESS WITH SUPER SENTAI!

Image
All explosions courtesy of Koichi Sakamoto and Michael Bay? This is the final week of this Super Robot Wars/Super Hero Taisen type mini-series. Personally, I think this four-part mini-series totally owns the overly rushed Dimensions in Danger during the 25th anniversary of Power Rangers. Giving it four parts actually help spread development and pacing rather than just something as rushed as Forever Red. Now let's move on... The last episode had Captain Marvelous allow Gaisorg to possess him. Now I wonder where have I seen this kind of move before aside from Gaoranger with Shirogane's daring sacrifice? Fortunately, Marvelous has had more strong will which makes him way more badass than Tommy "That Overrated Prick" Oliver in more than one level. He manages to rescue both Luka and Takaharu (who's fortunately improved overtime). I like the chemistry between Luka and Marvelous here though they sadly -- aren't officially a couple. So what's Rita...

Never Underestimate The Lone Female Ranger In A Super Sentai Team

Image
As the dawn of Ryusoulger arrives this Women's Month -- I thought about writing about why it doesn't have to suck to be the sole female in a Super Sentai team. I know the Toku heroes are usually male-oriented (when it comes to main characters) yet it doesn't mean women are any less or not useful either. Now, I'd like to focus on Super Sentai teams that only had one woman from start to end. We just got to celebrate the great lone women in a team of men! Which teams only had one woman from start to end? Aside from the upcoming Ryusoulger (unless producers decide to add another female ranger) -- you'd actually need to do some research and discover that a lot of Super Sentai teams also had only one woman. Yes, many yellow rangers are in fact -- male ! You have Goranger, JAKQ, Battle Fever J, Denziman, Goggle V, Dynaman, Liveman, Turboranger, Zyuranger, Dairanger, Kakuranger, Gingaman, GoGoFive, Timeranger, Gaoranger, Hurricanger, Abaranger, Gekiranger, Go-Busters, ...

Why I Still End Up Picking Zyuranger Over Mighty Morphin'

Image
The Super Sentai Strongest Battle is coming to an end and I feel like writing yet another post due to the Zyuranger connection -- it's because the villain Rita had her plan to revive Dai Satan who was used as Lokar in Mighty Morphin'. I know there have been mixed reviews, I would even dare say that Zyuranger isn't solid gold either (and no Super Sentai is without its flaws... GET OVER IT) but I still want to talk about why I'd end up choosing Zyuranger over Mighty Morphin'. Yeah, I know I've been told not to think about Mighty Morphin' and just enjoy Zyuranger for what it is. So let's get started, shall we? Child of the week is better than Bulk and Skull's weekly antics I know Zyuranger gets skewered at times because of the child of the week focus. I know it's a weakness but I'd rather take the Zyurangers having to handle some brat in trouble over the antics of Bulk and Skull. It's just like how I still think Ohranger's most unf...

A Random Crazy Rant On Go-Busters VS. Beast Morphers For #ThrowbackThursdays

Image
Beast Morphers has me nostalgic though it also has me bashing Power Rangers with its decision to localize something that was from 2012. So WTF Hasbro or is Hasbro playing it safe? Then I thought about doing a rather random #ThrowbackThursdays rant by recalling the first episodes of Go-Busters and Beast Morphers. Each one has its own strengths and weaknesses. It doesn't matter how I prefer Super Sentai over Power Rangers -- I still want to name everything up and down about them. I decided to rewatch Go-Busters' first two episodes and Beast Morphers' first epsiode. But I doubt it I'd actually write this one weekly because I've got some load of other stuff to do. But here's a bit of throwback to a series that I was afraid to admit I liked -- because some people I knew like Sentai Bandicoot and Shogo B'Stard didn't like it. Then I thought it's better to check it out for myself and I found Go-Busters entertaining though not as good as Timeranger. The h...

Turboranger Makes Me No Longer Want To Rewatch MMPR

Image
I always felt like Turboranger is unfairly maligned by some fans and that Mighty Morphin' is just overrated! With the dawn of Beast Morphers -- I'm already thinking about rewriting and rescheduling an old post in order to further celebrate Turboranger's 30th anniversary this year. Now I could come up with good reasons to why Turboranger is actually better than Mighty Morphin --  in fact watching pre-Zyuranger Super Sentai even makes me dislike Power Rangers all the more . Let's get started, shall we? Let's start with the Turborangers as heroes I won't use the whole there's no Zordon or Alpha Five to ruin the spot thing. Instead, I would actually focus on how the characters were actually better used than the Mighty Morphin' cast. What's with the characters? I thought about how Turboranger actually has better characters than Mighty Morphin'. Now for a bit of a start of the characters -- they aren't perfect, they're flawed but they do ...
