No. 1 Sentai Gozyuger celebrates the 50th anniversary of Himitsu Sentai Goranger . Has the celebration changed to  Goranger's birthday from the entry number ? I'm watching Gozyuger (but no episode reviews, sorry in advance). It's already amazing enough (?) that we have a half-Pinay ranger  and that Power Rangers Operation Overdrive had a Pinay ranger (but was born in Great Britain). The most recent episode ended with Daizyujin as the FIRST MEGAZORD (well, for Super Sentai ) to come out of that dreadful Megazord Graveyard! I'm A-OK with using Power Rangers terminology with discussing Super Sentai . The term Mecha is no longer overshadowed and would be more appropriate. However, the term Zord was used in Mirai Sentai Timeranger for the enemy robot known as the G-Zord. Before that, a lot of Evil Zords were created even before Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger . Feeling old yet? I wrote that post in 2016 . It reminds me of how Mirai Sentai Timeranger's Ranger History Lesson (special episode) called Himitsu Sentai Goranger  "Your parents' Super Sentai. " Timeranger was the 24th series and it felt like a grand finale. It was like Toei was telling audiences that Hyajakuu Sentai Gaoranger was rebooting Super Sentai . Super Sentai  needs a reboot if it expects to go on for a long time. Keep the current audience in check! Goranger will turn 50 years old this April 4, 2025. So yeah, big event.   There are times when comparing Power Rangers and Super Sentai can be apples and oranges. However, both shows tend to copy from each other and from American superhero fiction -- A LOT! I watched Denji Sentai Megaranger -- the source material for Power Rangers in Space . There's no doubt that Space saved Power Rangers from cancellation -- hence the possible why Mystic Knights of Tir Na Nog was left hanging. Power Rangers gained traction and Power Rangers Lost Galaxy was conceived. I watched Megaranger without thinking too much about Space .  SPOILERS AHEAD! I. I couldn't come up with a good ramble. I had recent thoughts considering that I'm FREAKING AS OLD AS DENGEKI SENTAI CHANGEMAN . However, I've treated Super Sentai more like a side hobby like everything else in the entertainment world. I'm proud to say that I've actually watched a lot of the older entries and the newer ones. Yes, that's why I ask how many old shows have you tried watching. Not everyone can truly watch the older seasons and some older fans may drop Super Sentai for other stuff. Heck, I've been contemplating that for the nth time. Last year, I wrote a random rant admitting that I'm okay with Power Rangers fans using THEIR terminologies . It's actually easier to talk about Super Sentai with a Power Rangers fan using terms like rangers (which is acceptable), morph over henshin (both are synonyms), and I'm okay if someone still calls Kamen Rider with its now discontinued international name Masked Rider . The term "Zord" is also used to refer to any mecha. However, Super Sentai uses the Japanese term Mecha instead.  The term Zord has been used in Power Rangers . I may not like Power Rangers but watching The Toys That Made Us is still enlightening. The international market has no one-size-fits-all arrangement. Different countries may require different types of localization. Power Rangers is STILL an adaptation based on the BUSINESS TERM localization. The term mecha wouldn't hit. I must admit I belong to the same age group as the 1980s babies Super Sentai veterans. Some of them are still acting and others aren't. It's understandable that some of my favorites barely show up because some are already married and have families. I watched No. 1 Sentai Gozyuger to get a glimpse of how Akiko Inoue (Toshiki Inoue's daughter) may contribute to Super Sentai .   It's Valentine's Day today and I can't resist writing this post. As I grow older, I discovered that I've been watching love stories A LOT. I mean A LOT. Super Sentai has attempted love stories like any other superhero show. Some superhero shows tried to mix in love interests. However, most love interests tend to be treated like, "POOF! They're never remembered!" Super Sentai  doesn't focus too much on love stories -- presumably because the target audience is younger children.  When Super Sentai writes love stories for the heroes that go beyond a guest-starring Super Sentai rangers tend to have one-shot love interests. The Hirohisa Soda introduced one-shot love interests. Dengeki Sentai Changeman had Mai Ooishi fall in love with a scientist BUT he's treated like every guest character.
