King-Ohger 24: Things Are Heating Up With A Sudden Global Warming

Image
It's midsummer and I guess it's almost time for vacation to be over. The World of King-Ohger is kinda hard to understand since it's not a Planet Nation. It's another version of Earth (called Chikyu or Terra). This week's episode heats things up literally. The planet is experiencing an unusual global warming because of a new Bugnarok plot. Desnarak VIII plans to finally blow up the Earth. Kamejin is scared to death thinking about it. Gemojim reports everything to Jeramie. Jeramie himself decides to confront Desnarak VIII. I wonder how many  Desnaraks have been taking over since Jeramie's 2000 year slumber?  As the weather of the World of King-Ohger heatens up - the other monarchs make demands. Gokkan is also suffering from the heat wave. Servers at N'Kosopa are overworked. Ice in Gokkan has melted. Agriculture in Toufu is affected. Well, Ishabana must be getting too full of patients. It's revealed that Desnarak VIII plans to enter the core of King-Ohger...

My Random Thoughts On "Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger" In 23 Episodes (Spoilers Ahead!)

Image
King-Ohger seems to be ready to open a new chapter. We have Racules overthrown (but I believe he'll be back as a neutrally aligned villain (since he does have his own powers too), given that Masato Yano hasn't been given his flowers unlike Boshimar's actor). I guess the writers have no intention to expand on what Boshimar was before Kamejim's assassination and identity theft. So yeah, it's kinda not surprising that the real Boshimar was dead and that Kamejim stole the identity of a dead person. It's very typical in many superhero shows to steal a dead person's identity. I wrote about why I felt that King-Ohger was a celebratory show after all . I could really discuss what might be Easter eggs left and right. There are some shows (under the Toei umbrella) that are celebrating their major anniversaries. This year is also the 30th anniversary of Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers - the very big entry point for Toei Ltd. to the American market. I feel the show ...

King-Ohger 23: Yes, Get Shugoddom's Giant Castle Zord Moving!

Image
This week's episode gets the Castle Zord moving! Okay, why I'm using some Power Rangers terminology even if I blatantly dislike it is because I feel King-Ohger is a celebratory season . 30 years of Mighty Morphin' means 30 years since Toei managed to get its bigger start in the Western market. This week manages to conclude the Shugoddom Castle as a giant Zord arc. When the Ultrazord will debut may also be sooner than you think. We see Kofuki who was first introduced during the King Racules mini-series . Speaking of Racules, I'm missing that idiot because he really has a lot of entertainment value. Kofuki was last seen unconscious and Himeno uses some healing spell. Wait, Himeno had that power? Did I miss something? Okay, it's all about trying to unlock the power of Castle Shugoddom. They find out some secret that it's not going to be that easy. What better way to awaken a Zord than a Zord? Gira begs the Shugods to help them awaken Castle Shugoddom's mecha fo...

Wacky Post: How Robo-Rita's Existence Might Be A Reference To Lt. Gara Of The Gorma (Some Spoilers)

Image
I decided to watch Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers: Once and Always for the heck of it. I may dislike (or hate, take your pick) Power Rangers but I'll always acknowledge that it's also Toei's fault that the franchise became a worldwide sensation. Both Toei and Saban have had a longtime working partnership, and even resumed their working relationship, all before Toei went with Hasbro (and Toei once provided animation for Hasbro during the 1980s). Toei also managed to pay Hasbro so they can create the Takara Transformers Trilogy based on Hasbro's hit franchise, The Transformers .  At first, I thought Rita had reverted back to evil. However, like the "Lord Zedd" of Power Rangers Dino Fury  (and I'm NOT watching it), this Rita is an evil clone. Billy tried to restore Zordon only to realize that Rita's evil particles haven't been eliminated. I guess Zordon's sacrifice was only worth destroying the active evil of that time than all the evil of th...

Super Sentai, Power Rangers, And Language Barrier

With the 30th anniversary of Power Rangers  approaching   - I just write this one. It's going to be some strange rant of sorts. It's going to be strange because it's already established I don't like Power Rangers . However, I blame Toei more than I blame Saban for why it exists or why it overshadowed the source material for some time. Some people will still always insist on the whole "cultural erasure thing". Just because I don't like something doesn't mean it's a cultural erasure. I may not like Power Rangers but blaming it (instead of Toei and Bandai) as to why it took over the timeslot in the Philippines is PLAIN DUMB. It's as dumb as those who blame K-Dramas instead of the networks (such as Japanese companies trying to get more exclusive) as to why they got more famous than J-Drama. I remembered writing an article on JEFusion (while I decided to get experience and left so I could focus on my personal life) talking about the cultural diffe...

King-Ohger 22: Unlocking Shugoddom Castle's Mysteries

Image
This week starts a new arc towards unlocking a new Megazord. The Bugnarok are beginning another rampage at Shugoddom. After Racules' supposed death (though no sign from Masato Yano that he's left the set) - we have a new establishing character moment. After last week's clip show  - we have the turning point as Daigorg does something crazy. Yes, just read on and find out! After Daigorg's rampage on Shugoddom, we see him do something absurd. Daigorg dares to swallow three Shugod souls which makes him grow much bigger than a standard Super Sentai Megazord. We've seen this a lot when some foes are too huge. Fiveman had Vulgyre revealing to be much bigger even than the base robot. Dai Satan in Zyuranger has to be much huger than Daizyujin. Daijinryuu in Dairanger was also that huge that it's freaking terrifying. The Shugods even rattle in fear against this one. I mean, who wouldn't? Kamejim shows up and starts bragging about how Daigorg may soon destroy Shugoddom...
