Real Good Scare: Doctor Man's Origins Revealed Were Unusually Scary Episodes

The New Empire Gear has comedic moments from its members. One might think of Monster and Zyuoh as a dangerous version of Dumb and Dumber. Episode 12 had Mason unleash such a ridiculous scheme that I agree with Farah and Monster. Why Doctor Man even approved of that idiotic balloon bomb operation was something. However, Bioman episodes 25-26 are two episodes that are way too scary. Doctor Man's human origins were already revealed in episodes 19-20. These episodes seem to take Nightmare Fuel Up to Eleven.

The story arc focuses on revealing Doctor Man's true son Shuichi Kageyama. Shuici was introduced to Koichi Nakamura in the first half. Doctor Man wants to find out if the boy is truly his son and not just some lookalike somewhere. IRL you might notice some people who have Toku lookalikes. Lee Seung Gi looks like a younger Hidenori Iura. Doctor Man wanted to be sure if he was looking for the right boy. Doctor Man dons a human disguise to look like his former self and confirm if Shuichi was really his son. There are still idiotic moments though like why would Shuichi's birthmark be revealed to the Biomen? Okay, Bond Villain Stupidity anyone?

Sure, these ghosts are obviously set on a budget. However, a child can get scared of amusement park ghosts for some reason. I used to be scared of clown make-up and Jack Nicholson's portrayal of the Joker. These ghosts can hit but not be hit. They may not be supernatural but Doctor Man came up with some dangerous sciences there. These holograms can still cause harm and were unleashed by Ghost Kans. It can be scary since the heroes know these deadly holograms can come out anytime!

Doctor Man's backstory unravels in such a dark and scary way. In my case, it was scary because I wanted to become the world's greatest genius of all time. I even wanted to become a robot than a human. This was scary to think about how I wanted to become a machine. I even planned to artificially increase my intelligence. Doctor Man's backstory is scary for me on a personal level. However, some people think that this is one scary plot. I doubt this scene would make it past today's Super Sentai or American TV-Y7-FV. It's that difficult to sanitize this scene and that's what I like about it. Doctor Man repeatedly subjects himself to electric shocks -- until he grows old REALLY QUICKLY. I even had a nightmare of growing old too fast after succeeding in such an experiment.

I still feel Bioman has had other scary moments. The episode where Jun Yabuki becomes a human bomb had some nightmare fuel. Silver is one scary foe since he overpowers both the Biomen and Gear. Silver carries the Anti-Bio Particles -- the same form of energy that killed Mika Koizumi way back in episode 10. However, Doctor Man's origin story takes the cake in being way too scary!
