Sumino Ichikawa Sings A Detective Ending Theme In Gozyuger Episode 5

Strange but true. I fell in love with older music when I heard some old school songs sung in new school entertainment. I remember hearing some old Chinese music while watching newer Chinese shows from either China or Taiwan. The same can be true with Japanese shows. I fell in love with the song that Maya sang in the bar of episode 5. I feel the whole song was filmed but was deleted due to time constraints. Yeah, talk about how deleted scenes are PLAIN INEVITABLE.

The song came from the LONG-RUNNING series called G-Men 75. It's a long-running detective series in Japan that ran from May 24, 1975, to April 3, 1982 -- a total of 355 episodes! I'm certainly not too curious to watch it! The song "Omokage" was sung from episodes 1-55 and episodes 175-204. I don't like anything that runs too long. Why do you think I didn't bother watching Dragon Ball Super and I don't watch One Piece?

Maya Imamori plays the role of Sumino Ichikawa -- a DETECTIVE. The sad song also talks about losing her younger sister eight years ago. Yes, that younger sister who's not yet revealed may become a Walking Spoiler!

The title of the song is "Omokage" meaning "Faces". The singer is Yuru Shimazaki.

Here is the English translation (by Google Translate) of the song:

Memories Seeking Alone
Oh only once in love and burned
Oh, I'm not going back to that time anymore
It can't come true.
Vain Prayer
Wandering City of Sorrow

In a chair in a certain place in a certain place
A city of memories to look at alone
Oh only once in love and burned
Oh, I'm not going back to that time anymore
Thoughts in my heart, ask for a vestige of my face

A city of dreams that never be seen

Let's say goodbye to those memories
Let's say goodbye to that face

Oh only once in love and burned
Oh, I'm not going back to that time anymore
The farewell I said was in tears.

Tomorrow is the city of departure, somewhere

But call me crazy -- I want to see Sumino Ichikawa sing a Tagalog song in later episodes! What song should it be? What Filipino sentimental song got popular aside from "Anak" (Child) by Freddie Aguilar? Maybe, it might be time to do a Japanese rendition of "Sana Kahit Minsan" (Even if Only Seldom) sung by Ariel Rivera. Would be cool actually!

Comments

  1. Speaking of G-Men '75, Hiroshi Miyauchi portrayed Detective Shimatani in order to balance his acting schedule while playing Akira Shinmei/AoRanger in Himitsu Sentai GoRanger & Soukichi Banba/Big One in J.A.K.Q. Dengekitai on the other side. And when it comes to "Anak (Son)" by the Philippine Folk Singer Freddie Aguilar, Miyauchi sang the Japanese Version ("Musuko") with his guitar in Kaiketsu Zubat. Keep up the fight until the end, Grandfather Miyauchi!!!
