TokuSpirits Guests Eating At A Jollibee Branch In Manila

Image
Considering tomorrow is the day of TokuSpirits and yup this is remembering childhood for some Filipinos (too bad none from Jetman is in this picture) where they saw Fiveman, Maskman and Turboranger dubbed in Tagalog together with Bioman dubbed by Telesuccess. So maybe some can remember the dubbed names like Michael Joe for Takeru/Red Mask and Kimberly for Hikaru Katsuragi/Pink Mask and Ricky for Riki Honoo/Red Turbo. From left to right we have Kei Shindachiya, Kazunori Inaba, Michiko Makino and Kenta Sato (which his name somehow got honored in Megaranger). This picture memorable for me because three out of four of my favorites from their shows are present. My personal favorites from Fiveman, Maskman and Turboranger are namely Ken Hoshikawa, Takeru and Riki. This could've been "perfect" if Akito Osugi were the one in this picture instead of Michiko Makino. But still, it's memorable thinking of it that Bioman was my very first exposure to Super Sentai, Hikaru was ...

Good Old Joji Nakata Is Voicing Azald For Zyuohger

Image
After updating on UkiyaSeed , I have noticed here's what I'd consider to be a good news/bad news scenario. So far, Joji Nakata did voice Rosyuo in Kamen Rider Gaim but never appeared in the flesh. So what's my take? The guy has played two noteworthy villains namely Sir Kaura for Flashman and Great Profesor Bias for Liveman. I haven't seen much of Flashman but seeing him in action based on a few clips - I'd say he was a really badass foe. He was responsible for kidnapping the Flashmen when they were still so young (WTF, how could he do that?) and I'd say it was partly his fault that they grew up in the Planet Flash and its four moons. So talk about how your actions end up having an equal and opposite reaction. What's so badass about him is after a fatal exchange of blows with Jin/Red Flash - he's still alive for the next episode where he performed a kamikazee attack in the next episode. He held the secrets of the Flashmen which added an entirely new le...

My Own Thoughts On Kazunori Inaba's Comment Concerning Super Sentai And Power Rangers

Image
Image source is from Japanese Entertainment Fusion (JEFusion) Aside from the quality of acting , I always thought about the Super Sentai cast members and doing their own stunts in the show. So I thought about how Super Sentai like its American adaptation or localization namely Power Rangers has its ups and downs too. Now it's time for me to share my thoughts about the quality of action scenes of both franchises then and now based on the quote from JEFusion. I wasn't able to immediately react to this since I didn't have the right words (and I hope I do have them) to at least, express my opinion (both positive and negative) on the matter. So what's up with the interview of Chris Cantada and his interview with Kazunori Inaba (Takeru, credited as Ryousuke Kaizo as a screen name during Maskman's screening) and Kei Shindachiya (Ken Hoshikawa). I thought about the question about Power Rangers and how the Sentai purists must be overreacting or in denial. When I...

Nostalgia Analysis: Red Mask and Five Blue at the Henshin Con Launch Party!

Image
While it was too bad I couldn't go to the Henshin Con Launch Party 2015 even if I could afford the VIP ticket (PHP 2,500.00) to get to the party, food, drinks and of course meet and greet, I am still happy nonetheless for people who got to meet them.   People know by know that Takeru/Red Mask is my favorite in Maskman and Ken Hoshikawa/Five Blue is my favorite in Fiveman.  As a 90s kid (now 30 years old and still single), I would like to express my feelings here and for other who were able to be there.  For nostalgia, I remembered watching Maskman badly dubbed on IBC-13 (which sadly NEVER showed the finale) and Fiveman on ABC-5 before it became TV-5. The venue of the event was in One Espelade in the Mall of Asia in Manila.  Fortunately the event went on and no Filipino ultranationalist was able to cause trouble. Pictures were retrieved from here . Two of my favorites at the dinner table... too bad I wasn't there but lucky for the others! Returne...

My Thoughts on Reiko Chiba, Takumi Hashimoto and Aohisa Takayasu at the Lexington Comic and Toy Convention (As a Super Sentai Fan)

Image
Here's a picture of Reiko Chiba, Takumi Hashimoto and Aohisa Takayasu at the Lexington Comic and Toy Convention. They are with Karan Ashley (in the place of the late Thuy Trang) and Austin St. John who met Yuuta Mochizuki at the Power Morphicon 2014. How do they explain the appearance of these three Zyuranger cast members and having a warm reception with Power Rangers cast members? Here's a picture of Catherine Sutherland-Chilson and Reiko Chiba-Kirihara together, both who wore the Ptera Ranger suit. Okay I'm again having my biases since I prefer Amy Jo Johnson-Giner over them in terms of acting (but both still did well for their roles). Again, I wish there will be an event where both Amy Jo Johnson-Giner can meet with Reiko Chiba-Kirihara.

My Thoughts on Dairanger 20 Years After...

Image
Well this is a 20 year reunion of sorts that has Keiichi Wada, Natsuki Takahashi, Ei Hamura, Tatsuya Nomi, Keisuke Tsuchiya and Hisashi Sakai.  I got this picture from Orends Range.  My thoughts?  Well it's been some time and time flew so fast like yesterday, both Hisashi Sakai and Blake Foster were still the child rangers they were in their respective shows and both are grown up as shown in this picture.  Just made me wonder who married who in Dairanger's cast... since I've heard Natsuki Takahashi is currently married I wish to see her family picture as well as the others.  Other than that, any 90s Sentai fan would LOVE this reunion.  Then again, in my celebrities blog I am so compelled to write about role analysis on the Dairangers maybe on Keiichi Wada or Natsuki Takahashi... but I really wish I could see pictures of their family lives =P

Flashman Senior Cast Photos I Found as of May 14, 2013

Image
Well here's some Flashman photos for all you Flashman lovers.  Hee hee hee, it's been some time! Touta Tarumi Kihachiro Uemara Yasuhiro Ishiwata

An Older Natsuki Takahashi Picture

Image
Here's an older picture of Natsuki Takahashi, just am pretty amazed that she still looks pretty here in this picture even if she could be in her 40s already. So yeah, I hope I can find more senior pictures soon for Super Sentai actors and actresses, though do expect eye candy content or entertainment stuff "after the Sentai" to be in my celebrities blog.

A Rare Picture of Hikaru Kurosaki and His Late Yuko Asuka

Image
Well her death anniversary was just a month ago but I'd like to post this picture of the couple together.  Yeah I know it's pretty sad but let's move on.  Let's also remember the joys of Juspion and Bioman too.

Super Sentai Senior Gathering Photos I Found as of December 23, 2012

Image
Here's another package gift for the holidays with Super Sentai gatherings...  While Kenta Sato does a thumbs up, Keichi Wada does a macho pose. Kenta Sato on a stage presentation of some of the red rangers. Keichi Wada and Ei Hamura with Riki Sato asking some questions.

From All Super Sentai Fans, Happy 47th Birthday Toshihide Wakamatsu!

Image
Time does fly fast and it's been a year since he made a guest appearance in Jetman as Gai Yuki's ghost, despite the fact he's more into J-Drama now (apparently that's what keeps most actors or actresses alive).  I guess nobody who's ever had ranked Jetman as one of the best or in my case, I'm among those who ranked it as the best Super Sentai could forget this awesome guy.  Cheers!

Chodenshi Bioman Reunited!

Image
"One!  Two!  Three!  Four!  Five!  Chodenshi Bioman!"  Well here's the roster of Bioman's roster (and sadly we'll never know what happened to Yuki Yajima as Sumiko Tanaka is here in her place to entertain us) in full bringing back childhood memories.  So what are you waiting for, "BIOMAN!" and remember now they fought against Gear and how the series inspired other Super Sentai series in the future. :)

Some Interesting Super Sentai Senior Gathering Photos I've Collected Just Yesterday

Image
Here are some amusing Super Sentai senior photos I've found.  Now only if somebody can tell me what they are in... Kihachiro Uemara in a reunion... and like the fact he made a cameo in Gokaiger! Masaru Shishido in his Toku-themed bar. Akito Osuga, the legendary red ranger stuntman Kazuo Nibori, Naoto Ota, Ryosuke Sakamoto and Michiko Makino Kenji Ohba with Touta Tarumi.  Thank you Kenji Ohba for being Gavan! Naoya Makoto and Ryosuke Sakamoto.. now both elderly.  Mom and I will want to meet them! Kenta Satou and Yuuta Mochizuki who in here has gained some weight- funny Austin St. John also gained weight as well.

A Toku Themed Bar? Masaru Shishido Opened One!

Image
While I was reading one of my currently number one J-Entertainment and Tokusatsu blog "Orends Range" I ran into this interesting information: former actor Masaru Shishido opened a Tokusatsu themed bar!!!!  Wow!  Looks like he's not the only red ranger to open a restaurant as Kazunori Inaba is currently running a restaurant. So how do I think of it?  Here's my thoughts on the information Ukiya Seed is sharing to all of us Toku fans...and I caught it while reading his blog whenever I can: I guess he hasn't forgotten about Tokusatsu after all... like even if they proceeded to soap operas and action series, Toku is after all what launched them.  And here's another... And here's the ambience... and according to Ukiya Seed the following actors have been there: Touta Tarumi, Keichi Wada, Kenta Satou, Kei Sindachiya, Yuu Tokita and Daisuke Tsuchiya have been there.  So who wants to go?  So I guess this is a place for adult toku fans who wanna feel young bu...

Keiichi Wada's Older Photos

Image
As Keiichi Wada makes an appearance next week on a Gai Ikari focused episode (I wish the focus episode was on Capt. Marvelous, why couldn't Gai Ikari meet Gai Yuuki?), it should be fun to see his older photos after Dairanger.  I say he's probably the most bad-ass Sentai red ranger actor yet that Jason David Frank would probably want to learn from him. I just wonder if he's married now and who his wife is if he never got married. Older and now more professional look... Despite him not getting any younger, he still displays some charisma. Hey Shinkengers who wants to challenge him?  I bet the Shinkenger class can learn a lot from him.  Oh, maybe the cast of PR Samurai should enroll in his classes too. With a lot of seniors... too bad I can't identify them all. Just on stage doing a trio Who's with him?  Can anybody comment? He hasn't lost his charm here.  He's got the wackiest shot here.  Only if he and Kenta Satou can show us their moves ag...

Another Older Michiko Makino Picture Finding

Image
This is definitely another classic find.  Okay she's in her 40s but still... this picture is amazing. A reunion with Ryosuke Sakamoto.  What's this event?  Too bad she didn't appear in the 199 Hero Battle of Gokaiger.

Super Sentai Cast Members in Metal Hero

Image
Well some Super Sentai characters did also appear in Metal Hero.  Now time to recall who I can recall... Kenji Ohba- He played as Gavan in his own series and later made a finale appearance in Sharivan.  Perhaps his best known part is GAVAN!  When he appears, Gavan comes to mind.  Glad he would reappear for the Gokaiger movie. Soga Machiko- She appeared as a Double Girl in Gavan (forgot which) and she also appeared as Queen Pandora in Spielban.  RIP Soga Machiko. Takumi Hirose- I forgot which series he appeared in.  I think it was Jiraya.  Correct me if I'm wrong. Yuki Yajima- She appeared in Bioman as Helen before her role as Mika Koizumi in Bioman.  Sadly she didn't last long in the entertainment world.   Naoto Oka and Junichiro Katagari- They guest starred in Janperson as incompetent police officers.

Some Childhood Nostalgia and Missing Pieces of Childhood of Sentai Fans in 199 Great Battle

Image
So why am I saying that there's a childhood nostalgia in me?  Well here's what's going on: First, it's a childhood nostalgia for the really older fans will be with the appearances of Naoya Makoto as Aka Ranger and Hiroshi Miyauchi as Big One.  However Hiroshi Miyauchi for me is best remembered as Kamen Rider V3.  They were those who watched Goranger (dubbed as Star Rangers in the Philippines) as well as JAKQ. Second, it's also a childhood nostalgia for those recalling the pre-Power Rangers days in the Philippines. With who?  Ryosuke Sakamoto remembering the Bio Integrate phrase, Junichi Haruta will be Goggle Black and Kenji Ohba (remembered him best as Gavan) or the legendary Kenta Satou who will be Red Turbo (I count him as another Jason David Frank of Super Sentai).  Too bad, Super Sentai isn't being shown anymore thanks to overrating Power Rangers and all things American and not giving the other side a chance.  Honestly, can't the local networks REAL...

More Sentai Seniors for February

Image
One of my followers Ling pointed me out this link (http://plaza.rakuten.co.jp/totatarumi/diary/201012190001/) and I ran into these photos. Here are some Sentai senior photos you'd like to see: Shishido Masaru still looking great but too bad he's not in red. Ryosuke Sakamoto in a funny expression. Keichi Wada doing a thumbs up. Third red ranger in a lone picture here. Keichi Wada and Ei Hamura drinking some liquor. Matsumuto Hiroyuki of Kamen Rider fame with Teruaki Ogawa from Kakuranger. Kihachiro Uemara and I can't recognize the other one. Keichi Wada with Shigeru Kanai. Satomi Hirose hasn't aged much and still looks cute. I wonder who's her husband. Yuji Kishi and his wife Mika Kikuchi-Kishi. Oh yeah, it's time for picture taking isn't it?
