Kiramager 33: The Giant Monster Panic Clash

Image
Last week's episode felt like it would not have a cliffhanger but it DID. There's also some massive imagination here to get away from this seemingly impossible crisis. So Sayo's supposed love interest manages to leave the scene to warn the others and doesn't appear again. Typical of one-shot love interests. Now, it's time to proceed to the giant monster clash. The other Kiramagers are now looking for her. Her love interest tells them where she is but disappears all of a sudden. They have their new plan to rescue Sayo and stop the seed from growing. It's time for them to spread it thin. Meanwhile, Garza is trying to get rid of Oradin. This is a really strong sibling rivalry going on one way or another. I really find Garza's obsession with outstaging his brother unbelievably crazy. I'm thinking about Scar and Mufasa from The Lion King here.  Best course of action? They decide to pilot the mechas in not-so-full capacity. Combining giant mechas really nee

Kiramager 32: There's Something About Sayo

Image
What I expected to be just another episode turns out that there's something BIG going on. Yup, it's those pink rangers with one-shot romances whether they were good (or bad). Recently, Sayo herself is seeing out her former colleague Yujin Kusaka. However, something is really looming as a dark plot is about to unveil for a cliffhanger. We see Sayo out on a date. Oh wait, where have we seen pink rangers out on a date? A couple of times actually! Granted, this episode is written by Naruhisa Arakawa. If you do some research then you'll realize that Dairanger's 33rd episode was also written by Arakawa and involved Rin's date with a man acted by Kazunori Inaba (Takeru in Maskman ).  The Riddle Jamen plays riddles and you can't attack it unless you answer them. I admit that I really didn't answer any of them. I was hoping for a bit of recycling of the Dora Sphinx from Zyuranger . In this case, Arakawa decided to do a bit of creative turn here.  Yodonna just prov

Kiramager 31: Kiramei Machines Become Bandai Merchandise

Image
Well, I'm reminded of how I actually NEVER had Megazords as a kid. Sure, I had some Bandai merchandise but I ended up having more books than toys. I still think about times I want to get some Bandai merchandise but I'm finding them costly and would rather save up AGAIN. Anyway, this episode speaks to the inner child. Yup, it's revealed that you just can't call on King Oradin like a genie. The rest are in some kind of team-building activity so why are Juuru and Takamichi left behind? I have to give credit though that at least Juuru and Takamichi aren't becoming Dumb and Dumber in contrast to Ryusoulger's Koh and Canaro.  Yodonna now hatches her scheme to shrink Kirameizin and Gigant Driller as part of her new plan. Carantula wants to shrink Tokyo but Yodonna always aims for the Kiramagers first. What I like about Yodonna is that she really tries to aim first for the Kiramagers. Pinch In Out Dagamens can shrink or grow anything - a pun on zoom in and zoom out ba

Why Fiveman May Have Gotten Vindicated By History

Image
Chikyu Sentai Fiveman is a show that was eventually vindicated by history? Well, maybe. I was thinking about how the show is remembered for being Hirohisa Soda's burnout and the series that could've spelled the end of Super Sentai. Not to mention, Kosoku Sentai Turboranger was also slipping down in ratings too. The trend also followed when both Choriki Sentai Ohranger and Gekisou Sentai Carranger also had low ratings one after the other. Yup, Carranger DID NOT save Super Sentai - it was Denji Sentai Megaranger . Fortunately, Chojin Sentai Jetman saved Super Sentai though it felt like Fiveman was doomed to be overshadowed - at least for the time being. I think about how the show in itself had evidence of Soda having no idea what to do anymore. It didn't help matters (for me) while watching Kyukyu Sentai GoGoFive . However, I couldn't ignore Fiveman one bit. I could say that my liking Nagare as my favorite GoGoFive character all goes back to Ken as my favorite Fiveman

Was Flashman Really More Popular Than Maskman In Japan?

Image
I remembered years ago - there was the rumor that Power Rangers Lost Galaxy was supposedly more popular than Seijuu Sentai Gingaman in Japan. Turns out that according to Sentai Bandicoot (back when he was the Fantasy Leader) - it's a big lie made by stuck-up Power Rangers fans on Rangerboard. The idea then later inspired me to write this iffy post. Hmmm... while it's best to dismiss the claim that Lost Galaxy was more popular than Gingaman but was Choshinsei Flashman truly more popular than Hikari Sentai Maskman ? So far, I don't have any real data to prove it. I'm just left to speculation. So far, I've seen Maskman first (as a child) and Flashman only as an ADULT. So, almost every source I hear is from the Internet. I mean, I even had to watch Hikonin Sentai Akibaranger in order to figure out who the legends behind Super Sentai such as Kazuo Niibori! I heard from Thems Fightin' Words that Maskman is probably one of the most underrated or as some said, it

Kiramager's First Eight Episodes VS. Kamen Rider Saber's First Eight Episodes

Image
I was thinking about the time I made a reaction towards the statement that Kamen Rider Saber turns out to be unpopular in its first eight episodes . It was five days ago and I thought I might want to see how Saber is faring against the current Super Sentai, Mashin Sentai Kiramager , in terms of its first eight episodes.  What reasons are the first eight episodes of Saber getting flak ? Here's what was gathered from Daisuki Toku :  Too many Kamen Riders may cause an accident. It feels more like a 30-minute toy commercial and the content is shallow. The pace is getting too fast to sell more Bandai merchandise that it's boring. A lot may happen in the 30-minute airing but it feels empty. The fact it's written by Takuro Fukuda contributes to the hate.  Kamen Rider Ghost  is considered the worst Heisei-era Rider ever. Some worries were proven right. So, I decided to do a rundown on Kiramager's first eight episodes again. I did write eight weekly reviews of Kiramager (nine,

Kiramager 30: A Seventh Warrior?

Image
Will there be a seventh warrior? Well, this would be an interesting episode. So, just read this post to find out. If you've watched this episode then you know the answer. Regardless, I somehow got what I expected to a certain extent. The beginning has the Kiramagers getting themselves mentally prepared. Yodonna had just arrived and she's making their lives twice as hard. Think of Queen Ahames from Changeman or Trakeena from Lost Galaxy taking matters into their hands.  Is there a seventh warrior? Is Hakataminami meant to become the seventh warrior like Doggie Kruger was in Dekaranger? Just read on and find out! The latest Marrsk monster, Mannequin Jamen shows up and makes dolls out of people. Sena is among the first which might have been part of Yodonna's plan to get the team separated. One thing is certain - Yodonna is a BITCH of a woman. She has mercilessly made some of the Muddites as disposables and it may not be long before she uses them as suicide bombers. Her dark au
