It feels kinda sad, really, to think that it's 2026 and it could've been the 50th entry for Super Sentai . Instead, we have Gavan Infinity ,  which may ultimately replace Super Sentai as the franchise had ran for too long. Super Sentai had its FIVE-YEAR CEREMONIAL FINALE , which started in 2021 with Kikou Sentai Zenkaiger and finally wrapped up with No. 1 Sentai Gozyuger .  I had a feeling that there's an "anniversary curse" That didn't happen with Hyajakuu Sentai Gaoranger (which felt more like a REBOOT ) for the 25th season. Neither did it happen with 30th season is Gougou Sentai Boukenger . Gaoranger had the Gaoranger vs. Super Sentai non-canon film but the main series was still self-contained. Boukenger vs. Super Sentai was obviously another what-if movie. The Super Sentai Encyclopedia in Boukenger was never meant to be part of the show canon. Boukenger carried over designs that mimicked past Zords in Super Sentai with various Monsters-of-the-Week (MOTWs) ...

These days I don't really care about the Super Sentai VS. Movies . Most of them tend to be like the Dragon Ball Z movie series -- a series of What-If scenarios. Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger is already a fun continuity error. Many events in previous Super Sentai series can't be connected. I rewatched Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters after I finished Power Rangers Beast Morphers . This reminds me Power Rangers' use of continuity vs. Super Sentai's mostly self-contained plots are probably due to CULTURAL DIFFERENCES . This TV special is no different as several plots make them NON-CANON. There are going to be several non-canonical events. One can have fun and point out the glaring continuity errors. Who can remember how events unfold in most Super Sentai crossover movies? This one spared no effort to let you know it's just another crossover film.   There are many terminologies commonly used in Power Rangers that I still welcome. Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters used the terms "It's Morphin' Time" and Megazords. As the anniversary of Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers approaches - Let's look at the past Ranger History lessons that Super Sentai did even before Saban Entertainment got its green light.  The first Ranger History lesson happened during Kosoku Sentai Turboranger's "first episode" Turboranger can be a very strange season and I can understand why some people don't like it. Kaiju No Kami's review pointed out how Denji Sentai Megaranger made Recruit Teenagers with Attitude WAY MORE BELIEVABLE. I'd still say Turboranger is still unfairly maligned and it deserves some credit for ACTUALLY TRYING NEW THINGS.   Surprise, I did some Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters rewatching. I was in the closet about liking that show. Now, I'm going to say that I'm a fan of Go-Busters and I don't care anymore if a show's popular or not. I've marathoned up to the two-parter where Go-Busters had a team-up with the legendary Gavan. It would be important to know that it's actually Gavan's 40th anniversary this year. This reminds me of the time when I used to watch Gavan badly-dubbed in Tagalog as Sky Ranger Gavin on ABC-5 . Now, it's time to take a memory lane to pay respect to one of the greatest old-school heroes. Back in 1982, Gavan premiered alongside Dai Sentai Goggle V while Kamen Rider took yet another hiatus. The popularity of Gavan brought in two direct sequels with different new heroes namely Ucchu Seiju Sharivan and Ucchu Seijuu Shaider. There was no Internet back then so it was a big deal when I missed an episode of Gavan like I missed an episode of this and that. I rememb...

I was watching Donbrothers and it's been hard not to think about Beast Morphers . Call me weird all you want but it happened. I wonder why is Donbrothers even using the ability to become past Super Sentai... pretty much like  Gokaiger ? At one moment where I'm praising Go-Busters for trying to make Enetron independent of all other sources - I'm now wondering if I'm badmouthing Donbrothers for linking itself to Zenkaiger so directly? As if having both Zoey and Haruka showing their jobs as noble heroism wasn't enough. I did write an article about why a Super Sentai Morphin' Grid is just impossible . However, what if the concept was integrated into the VS. Movies and the anniversary seasons (as well as some selected seasons) without us knowing it? 2011 was when a tsunami hit Japan some time in March. Who would've thought that in 2021 - 10 years after the same incident - something similar will happen to the Philippines? Odette struck so hard that it's left a huge wave of devastation. It's a weird coincidence or not that something tends to happen on major events? Now, I decided to watch the Gokaiger OVA movie which takes 10 years after that's before I might consider quitting Super Sentai for good. Zenkaiger is no longer interesting me in spite of the interesting new concepts. I think Donbrothers resuming the already burnt-out Toshiki Inoue may not be the best move either.  I must admit I have been skipping the 10 years after movies - except for Dekaranger .   It was 2011 when Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger aired and now it's 2021, right? The series had its celebration when Super Sentai hit its 2000th episode on the year of its 5th anniversary . Right now, I'm even thinking that I do regret saying that I enjoyed Doubotsu Sentai Zyuohger over Gokaiger . I'd say that Gokaiger probably still stands the test of time though I'd still hate it when people think it's a cheat sheet. Nope, it shouldn't be treated like a cheat sheet. Rather, it should be treated like some kind of invitation to watch older Super Sentai series or to give tribute to the longest franchise by Toei Ltd. for all its ups and downs. The series in itself is what I'd call Toei Ltd.'s most ambitious anniversary season ever. One could think of the major milestones with anniversary seasons. As Kyuranger comes to an end -- I want to recall once more Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger's fifth episode which was a Dekaranger-focused one. The Gokaigers are searching for the Greatest Treasure in the Universe and they run across Jasmine, Doggie and later Ban. Knowing that Takaaki Utsunomiya is once again involved isn't a surprise either. Sure, he wasn't the top producer of Dekaranger (as it was Hideaki Tsukasa) but I guess he couldn't resist making that reference in his upcoming series. After all, he was the guy who was behind Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger as its producer. The episode plot was kind of fun to think how the Dekarangers want to arrest the Gokaigers. The whole scene where Marvelous gets arrested by Jasmine was fun. It was also fun to see Ayumi Kinoshita show a little more badass moves before she decided to settle down and focus on the family. It was an episode. But maybe, just maybe Utsunomiya thought, "Let's try and create two teams that are at odds with...
