I must admit that I've been left SPEECHLESS and perhaps NOT IN A GOOD WAY! It turns out that Kohaku Shida is GOING TO BECOME SUMINO ICHIKAWA! This information from UkiyaSeed made me WTF through and through: Shida will replace Maya Imamori for the role of Sumino Ichikawa/Gozyu Unicorn starting on the show's 40th episode, which will air on November 30th. As previously reported, Imamori stepped down from the role due to her agency dropping her because of underage drinking.  My reaction to this is like, "WTF are we thinking Toei?" Kohaku was previous cast as Haruka Kito in Avatar Sentai Donbrothers . This was a reaction to Maya Imamori's termination because of underaged drinking . This casting makes me raise the concern. Was this solely done because of whatever charm and impact that Kohaku had while she was in Donbrothers ? Maybe yes, maybe no. I should still wonder how Gozyuger's creative crew will explain Sumino's SUDDEN FACE CHANGE since Kohaku will FREAKI...

Santa Claus: Look kid, there's no Super Sentai timeline, okay? I guess the debate will NEVER end whether or not there's a Super Sentai timeline, right ? Well, maybe. This week's Donbrothers' episode does give us another view of Santa Claus. Interestingly, Ichiro Mizuki died on December 6 -- the traditional feast day of Saint Nicholas aka the real Santa Claus. Here, we're talking about a fictionalized non-existent Santa Claus who either lives at the North Pole or in some strange dimension. The portrayal of the jolly old man in a right red suit really differs.   I dare say I'm still overly hyped with Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger that I'm slowing down on Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger . I finally saw the two movies Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger vs. Doubutsu Sentai Donbrothers (which obviously fits into the non-canon VS. Series unless Toei says otherwise) and what's intended to patch things up with the whole Kyoryuger is part of King-Ohger possible retcon . Some people are probably still forcing the narrative that a Super Sentai timeline supposedly exists .  King-Ohger vs. Donbrothers has me mixed since I do love both shows Should I be bummed up that this show was less than 40+ minutes or what? Doing some research may tell us some crossover specials in Super Sentai can be that rushed.  Himitsu Sentai Goranger vs. Dengekitai JAKQ was treated more like an additional episode for the latter. Surprised or not? It seems King-Ohger's ratings are hitting the roof and we've got not ONE but TWO movies . Sure, King-Ohger has very little MOTW action involved and it's been more like a J-Drama. The way King-Ohger unfolds seems like doing Kamen Rider Saber right. I could remember how Saber got flak early on and somehow recovered.   There are many terminologies commonly used in Power Rangers that I still welcome. Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters used the terms "It's Morphin' Time" and Megazords. As the anniversary of Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers approaches - Let's look at the past Ranger History lessons that Super Sentai did even before Saban Entertainment got its green light.  The first Ranger History lesson happened during Kosoku Sentai Turboranger's "first episode" Turboranger can be a very strange season and I can understand why some people don't like it. Kaiju No Kami's review pointed out how Denji Sentai Megaranger made Recruit Teenagers with Attitude WAY MORE BELIEVABLE. I'd still say Turboranger is still unfairly maligned and it deserves some credit for ACTUALLY TRYING NEW THINGS. Sure, the Bouma main characters are lame personifications of wickedness (as they are pretty much Stupid Evil and For the Evulz). I even want to agree with Kaiju No Kami that Emperor...

Personally, I don't like crossover movies these days. Sure, I can expect them to be as non-canon as the Dragon Ball Z movie series. Here, I felt that there could've been the usual way to excuse things like make a movie-only timeline. Instead, the movie does try to "solve things" by creating two parallel worlds between Zenkaiger and its successor Donbrothers . I may have not liked Zenkaiger based on its execution (I feel Junko Komura just sucks with anniversaries ) but the unorthodox team is something I'm willing to see again. Meamwhile, Donbrothers has a more unorthodox team of humans. Two hardly typical Super Sentai teams meet together for this strange crossover. The movie begins with Kashiwa Mochi (Red Bean Sticky Rice Cake) World from the world of Zenkaiger . A lot of crazy stuff happen such as when Zoxi becomes the puppet king called Kashiwa Mochi King.  Finally, it's time to wrap things up! I would admit that I didn't really enjoy Kikou Sentai Zenkaiger as an anniversary season. Is it me or does Junko Komura actually suck with anniversaries ? I feel that Komura's writing of Doubotsu Sentai Zyuohger could've made it nearly Power Rangers Megaforce 2.0 - pretty girls in a bad show! Still, Zyuohger still had a more solid plot   than Megaforce . Avatar Sentai Donbrothers was enjoyable though I was worried about Toshiki Inoue. Yes, Inoue (and no, not actor Norimasa Fuke) did appear in the finale in a cameo. Inoue did get permission to make a cameo in Kamen Rider Faiz but strangely never did in other entries where he was the head writer. Heck, I still wish that Yasuko Kobayashi made a cameo in Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters' finale after a rewatch! Note: Most of the photos were taken from Dryed Mangoez. Last year, we had that on/off pink rabbit (and this Chinese New Year will be the Year of the Rabbit). We have the plagiarist in a bunny suit calling itself Naoki Shiina . The rabbit could copy Haruka Kito PERFECTLY. That's just very funny especially when the Manga is so exactly done. If you haven't watched it then beware... SPOILERS! If not, read on if you either don't mind being spoiled (like me) or if you have seen it. As Donbrothers did wrap up its filming - the plot twist can be too predictable. I remembered some forums where people speculated the identity of the bunny. So, now it's time to think about what could be another writing tool namely time travel and alternate timelines. Yeah, it's a common trope, and Toei Ltd. has been copying tropes from Western comics and animation as well. I'm not even surprised at the turn of events that happened.  There had been wild guesses about the bunny suit. Some speculated it's another version of Donbrothers Haruka. ...

I'm more or less "caught up" with Avatar Sentai Donbrothers.  I've been the watching the series in very irregulat paces these days. Then again I no longer plan to do episode reviews as blogging is JUST A HOBBY. I realized a few things as 2022 ends. Toei Ltd. did hit the market big in 1993. I did write a post talking about that during Power Rangers' silver anniversary and the same year when Dimensions in Danger kicked in. This week has a very weird side plot where Haruka Kito takes driving lessons. Yup, her auntie who she lives with decided to enroll her to take driving lessons ASAP! Inoue is also known to revisit old scripts AND add a twist. Inoue was known to have written the X-1 Mask episode in  Hikari Sentai Maskman . It was a one-parter that provided a template for two characters - Burai and Gai Yuki. Though, Inoue didn't do much in  Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger . Later,  Inoue had two episodes in  Mirai Sentai Timeranger . Inoue juggled in between  Timeran...

This week's Avatar Sentai Donbrothers episode tries to bring Donbrothers Kaito Goshikida to the spotlight in a way. Sure, Donbrothers Kaito has been more or less just an ally. As what may be established, Donbrothers Kaito isn't Zenkaiger Kaito. The show's flow of events seem to suggest that this is another Kaito. Others think that Donbrothers Kaito may be the God of Zenkaiger Universe in the form of Kaito. For one, I think Donbrothers Kaito being the God of Zenkaiger Universe is a possibility.  We have a new robot called the Don Killer. It was meant to be launched IF the Donbrothers don't accomplish their mission. The episode is pretty weird actually. Yet, it does reveal why Donbrothers Kaito isn't the same as Zenkaiger Kaito. It's pretty much different from how Kotaro Minami became Kamen Rider BLACK RX or how Ryoma Kagawa became Knight Fire in Solbrain. Instead, it's seemingly planned that Donbrothers Kaito should be a very different Kaito from Zenkaiger Ka...
