Dai Sentai Goggle V Episodes 41-50

Image
Here's Goggle V's last ten episodes as I promised. We have episodes 41 to 45 which are still regular episodes. Episodes 46 up to 50 will deal with the five part finale arc which shows the beginnings of Hirohisa Soda. Sometimes, I just forget how Goggle V is a very old series and that it's pretty much an experimentation to how the legendary Hirohisa Soda would carry out his later science fiction heavy works with Bioman, Changeman, Flashman and Liveman. 41 -- With great power comes great responsibility, right? Deathdark is creating a new super suit with the help of Silkworm Mozoo. This super suit looks super GOOFY but it grants such power. They intend to create a super army. Unfortunately, the operation goes goofy when a civilian gets his hands on the suit and becomes an instant superhero. This one has me remembering the lines that Wolverine once said in X-Men Evolution when he said, "Greatness isn't supposed to come that easy." Boy, does this episode remi...

Dai Sentai Goggle V Episodes 31-40

Image
Whew! I didn't expect myself to be writing this entry right now. After doing a rundown on episodes 21-30 -- here's my next episode batches which one of them will include a midseason upgrade. Hmmm speaking of which, I'm just close to doing a rundown on episodes 41-50 which will include the finale. But I may not always do posts like this. Speaking of which, I wish Millionfold will just resume subbing Kagaku Sentai Dynaman before director Michael Bay pretty much gets Toei's permission to sub and release it. =P  31 -- Rattlesnakes are poisonous but seriously, where's the literal poisoning? This is Deathdark's latest agenda -- they seek to find children and find out if they are all fit for their future Deathtopia or not. Unfortunately, Rattlesnake Mozoo is THAT STUPID not to get qualified children for the poison the minds of the youth program. It's up to Saboru as he discovers this plan to create a Darwinian empire. It was also fun to see how Saboru tea...

Dai Sentai Goggle V Episodes 21-30

Image
I've done some rundowns for episodes 11-20  -- now it's time for episodes 21-30 which would be the third batch. I admit, there hasn't been much of a change for most of the time with the half-brained plans or how Ambassador Hell errr Deathmark just ended up getting forgettable as Fuehrer Taboo's adviser in some episodes. 21 -- Fish everywhere is turning into fossil. Deathdark uses Coelacanth Mozoo (who's got super hard scales) to carry out this rather devastating project to turn the fish into fossils. I guess they did enough research to know how Japanese love fish a lot -- though it also has us to cherish the fish on our tables too. I just felt sorry for the family whose patriarch gets kidnapped. He's a fish farmer and Deathdark wants to use him to fossilize all the fish in the world. What I find weird though is how in the world doesn't Coelacanth Mozoo not react to that plan considering that he's a fish himself? Also, Coelacanth Mozoo's one we...

Dai Sentai Goggle V Episodes 11-20

Image
We just got introduced episodes 1-10 -- I decided to do episodes 11-20 for this entry. This would be where things start to charge direction a little earlier. I would like to discuss this week's episodes which also includes a bit of direction change -- but not too much. Want to know what it means? Just read on then I may write on episodes 21-30 next! 11 -- I think about this episode to contain one of the most crazy Deathdark Plots ever. Since when did a lion breathe and produce fire? Lion Mozoo is tasked with the task of burying Japan by making volcanoes explode. A Miki focused episode where she works together with a boy and his grandfather. The volcano eruption plan could have also been done this way. If you saw the Dinosaurs sitcom (which was during the 90s) -- Deathdark could have thought of using it to produce super-thick clouds which could block out the sun AND lead the Earth to an ice age. Hmmm... Deathdark could have thought of that to! 12 -- Liar, liar pants on fire...

Dai Sentai Goggle V -- Introduction And Episodes 1-10

Image
Introduction Well I guess I won't be really responding to Shogo B'Stard's Turboranger posts -- where he's talking about episode by episode in contrast to what he did with Chojin Sentai Jetman and previously, Kamen Rider Black . I decided some Goggle V marathon right now -- yes, I'm doing it but it doesn't mean that gone will be the weekly Lupinranger vs. Patranger episode reviews (and DO NOT expect me to give magazine scans since I'd rather see Lupin-X/Pat-X in action first). Goggle V would the beginning of the Hirohisa Soda era -- while Fiveman would be its end -- both series have a "Five" in its title. It would also be the beginning of the era of Takeyuki Suzuki as a head producer for Super Sentai which lasted from 1982 up to 1995 -- a total of 14 installments! Soda wrote a total of nine series straight as its head writer where he inevitably started losing it during Turboranger and Fiveman was where things started looking dark -- until Cho...

Goggle V Revisited

Image
I felt like I wanted to write this article.  Okay so I wonder if I have any mistakes here but I thought Goggle V deserves to be revisited.  Now for the article: Well I am afraid this season is pretty underrated... despite it not really entering into my "amazing list" but still, I feel this is a must watch.  For me, I thought this whole season was filled wit concepts that would soon bring forth Super Sentai's newer ideas.  There's a little bit of a shout-out for me.  For example consider Goggle Red symbolizes Atlantis, Goggle Black symbolizes Asia, Goggle Blue symbolizes Egypt, Goggle Yellow symbolizes Lemuria and Goggle Pink symbolizes the Easter Island.  I thought that the whole show was laced with a lot of gymnastic style fighting which really makes the fight scenes fun to watch. So any shout-outs referencing to Goggle V in later Super Sentai?  Here they are that I think do exist: Kenichi Akama was an adventurer.  Did his character conce...

Super Sentai Team that Got Framed...

Image
Here are the Sentai groups that got framed by the enemies namely... Dai Sentai Goggle V- The Deathdark managed to create evil clones of the Goggle V to destroy their reputation known as the Deathdark V.  However they were visually distinguisable. Chikyu Sentai Fiveman- When Meadow got really angry and turned red (actually Vulgyre caused his illusion to do that!), Chevalier released the Leech-Butterfly Jin to absorb the Fivemen's powers.  The Galaxy Sentai Gingaman (Galaxy Men) got the Fiveman powers and used them to attack the city.  Remi's gutsy move against them revealed the whole fraud scheme. Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger- After Burai died and before the return of Dai Satan, the Zyurangers had to deal with Dora Mirage who not only replicated the Zyurangers in their suits but also imitated civilians and attacked the civilian Zyurangers to frame them up.  I considered this the best frame up ever with two schemes at once.   Missed any?  Corrections? ...

"Shinkenger Hints" in Past Super Sentai

Image
Before Shinkenger, the idea of the samurai seems to be hinted for a decade or more. Here are the following series as one or more of the team wore samurai suits or at least, the actor or actress: Battle Fever J introduced a samurai-like robot and Commander Kurama Tetsuzan was an expert in handling the samurai sword. Takayuki Hiba/Vul Eagle II was a master in Kendo. One episode of Denziman had the team in several cosplays, one of them being the samurai.

Sentai's "Wall Villains"

Image
Sentai had some villains that were initially "walls" or had a wall behind them, they were usually immobile at first but then they gained mobility. They are: Fuehrer Taboo in Goggle V remained behind a translucent wall in the series and appeared immobile at first. He was however a force to reckon with. He is ruthless, cunning and a product of genetic engineering. In the finale, he was ironically struck by Goggle Red while in his wall form which revealed his true self. He emerged in giant form for the finale to destroy the Goggle V team after his right hand man Deathmark was killed in battle. When the Goggle Robo's sword couldn't defeat him, the sword was thrown right into his eye and destroyed him. Emperor Ragorn in Turboranger initially just sat on a throne while he could move his upper body. He however revealed a mobile form in episode 39 after a rather awesome (at the same time ridiculous) duel with Riki Honoo/Red Turbo in which he was defeated one-on-one but...

Pre-PR Sentai Marks I See in Kimberly Hart

Image
Trini Kwan and Tommy Oliver aren't the only ones I felt that weren't that close that somehow hand pre-PR Sentai marks. The lovely and iconic Kimberly Hart is one too. Here are some: Okay this may not be the first to be noticed but Miki Monozono/Goggle Pink is a gymnast like Kimberly Hart is. I think the first noticeable one for Filipinos would be Hikaru Katsuragi/Pink Five in Bioman. Why? Well in the English dub, Hikaru Katsuragi was called Kimberly . Both of them were less skilled in combat and more on subtle tactics plus they were the show babes. I think Haruna Morikawa is another mark in the lovely Kimberly Hart. Both of them are kind of witty, prone to disasters and not to mention, can show valley girl attitudes to some extent. Also not to mention, both fight evildoers while being high school students.
