Why I Think Goseiger Was Eventually Vindicated By History

Image
There's always such a time when a franchise can go "HUH?!" I still think Tensou Sentai Goseiger is a franchise that wasn't easily well-received. Some may have called it bland and boring during its first broadcast in 2010. Just because an entry didn't do well during its year of airing doesn't mean that history won't vindicate it . I think Goseiger itself is a series vindicated by history. Personally, I found this series bland and boring (at first) until one big disaster occurred. But before talking about that legendary mega-disaster that's Power Rangers Megafail - we could talk about how Goseiger felt like it was overshadowed not ONCE BUT TWICE in its whole career. Goseiger is overshadowed by Shinkenger It's no secret that Samurai Sentai Shinkenger is a fan favorite for that long. I even dare say Shinkenger is overappreciated. Tori Matsuzaka ends up becoming what I'd call a really big shadow of a red ranger. The role of Takeru Shiba just o...

Singing to Defeat Monsters

Image
I'd like to present the use of singing to defeat the monsters not ever since I read a review on the latest episode of Power Rangers Megaforce.  Here they are: Yuuma used his horrible singing voice to defeat the Space opera singer Zonos.  This one I could relate to considering I'm pretty tone deaf but this one is on the screechy side. The Fivemen faced off against Chevalier's Cricket Jin where they eventually sang the Fiveman song to defeat their enemy.  Chevalier revealed he has a very smooth singing voice though I doubt it that it's really Kihachiro Uemara's because the song "Hero" was by Kai Band.  But it was a very cool episode for me overall. In the case of Eri, it's her cute little voice vs. the rock and roll monster who has a very horrid voice.  It's pretty much a reverse of Yuuma although I think the song is kinda "too generic" for me, like the one that was later used in Power Rangers Megaforce with the same effect of havi...

Super Sentai Series With Post-Series Specials

Image
There were some Super Sentai that can be noted for having post-series specials.  These are the following: Chojin Sentai Jetman- After the conclusion of 51 episodes, there came out the Jetman Toei Hero Encyclopedia where Ryu and Kaori are featured as a married couple, they talk about their days as Jetmen before living normal civilian lives.  Along the way, they recall their adventures and in the end, it's discovered they have named their son as Gai, named after their late friend Gai Yuki. Mirai Sentai Timeranger- After the tearful bittersweet conclusion of Timeranger (since Tatsuya and Yuri well it's impossible for them to be together), we do get a special which is a self-contained episode.  The first five Timerangers go use the Time Gamma to see all the Super Sentai series as the years passed from Goranger down to Gogo V before it ends with the endorsing Gaoranger which became the anniversary special (25th season). Samurai Sentai Shinkenger- There was the...

Just Some Thoughts of Differentiating Megaforce from Its Original Counterpart Goseiger

Image
Okay I don't know why I'm even writing this, I mean let's just say I think Goseiger's the weakest season for Super Sentai (not Go-onger for me) however I just had my thoughts on Mr. Smith's blogging and Rising Sun Tokusatsu as well as Orends Range's latest entry on them to where things differ one after the other.  While Goseiger is all about "angels" from another world who come to defend the Earth from the various factions that want to destroy it, Megaforce apparently goes into the teenager theme like MMPR was (seriously they should however stop using MMPR nostalgia and be more original) with them being chosen for being teenagers with an attitude.  My impression is that there's been some inspiration from MMPR with how the cast is dressed up but not entirely.  So looks like there's going to be more "original stuff" coming in but I hope nobody starts another fan war here. =) If you want to share your impressions, go ahead but rememb...

Goseiger V-Cinema- International Icons?

Image
Source: http://tokupinoy.blogspot.com/2011/02/another-sequel-of-tensou-sentai.html A V-Cinema for Goseiger? I really should apologize to the cast members for bashing their series frequently because I disliked it for certain reasons. But overall, it's not a terrible show unlike the Bruce Kalish era of Power Rangers. So here's how it works: they are unable to memory wipe the people of Earth before going back to their home planet and they become... INTERNATIONAL ICONS? Well technically they're not Japanese so I think it would work. Also, I am reminded Super Sentai can't go multiracial thanks to language barriers. Hee hee.

The End of Goseiger, Gokaiger Begins!

Image
Well finally Goseiger ends and I didn't have a very positive view of the series. Anyway Sentai didn't enter the "Kalish age" either. I personally had mixed feelings for the series. I can't wait to see how Naruhisa Arakawa would finally get the whole script done seeing he's pretty much the kind of guy who like Judd Lynn is much an imaginative fellow. He does bring the best on the table. I expect a more well-balanced series since some seasons were kind of dark especially those in the 80s-90s which most of pre-adapted Sentai didn't appeal too much for Power Rangers fans IMO because they were kind of too serious.

The Ultimate Nemesis of Goseiger: Bladerun!

Image
Well I can't believe how the assumption of some fans that Bladerun being the final enemy is SO REAL. Anyway let's review on who he was here and there: He started off as Bladerun of the Comet, serving Warstar and became its only survivor. He then became Bladerun of the Chupacabra upon joining Yuumaju. He was supposedly killed but... Whatever was left of him became Blade-RUN of the Cyborg. He is actually Burajira, the self-proclaimed messiah who's going to cause havoc in the finale. Anyway he'll be back for the crossover movie. Street Fighter's Gill anyone?

Some Great Events for 2011 for Power Rangers-Sentai Fans

Image
Yup as the year ends, here's what everybody's looking forward to: Strictly for Goseiger fans, the Goseiger finale. I personally think the show's not my type or is Shinken-mania affecting me? February 5, 2011 will be the premier of Power Rangers Samurai. Too bad Saban wasn't able to return earlier. And well, here it is. I've heard that they plan to make it a fun season which is kind of in contrast to Shinkenger which was a more serious season. The coming of the Goukaigers and the 35th Sentai anniversary. Why do I get the feeling it'll be better than Goseiger? I just hope my fixation on Shinkenger won't stop me from watching the show. It will be on February 11, 2011.

Goseiger Masks Along with Other Japanese Characters

Image
I got this picture from Muza-Chan's Gate to Japan. Strangely enough, we have Goseiger mixed with some older Kamen Riders.

I'm Having Thoughts on Goseiger vs. Shinkenger

Image
As the fan-based canon (or fanon) Sentai VS. Universe featured the Goseigers in the feature of Shinkenger vs. Go-onger, a crossover will happen after all. Hee hee. So anyway, Lavender Ranger has featured some spoilers of the upcoming Goseiger vs. Shinkenger movie . I pretty thought of it that a pretty serious series vs. a pretty light-hearted series, so maybe there's no problem. Two red rangers of opposite personality- Takeru Shiba's a lot more serious than Alata. An evil Shinken Red? A clone maybe. I don't know. I think so. Or maybe a product of Takeru Shiba's dark side manifesting? Or his alter ego? I suspect this is pretty much like Ryu/Evil Ryu type of relationship- a weird case of split personality. Oh no- Eri and Mako Shiraishi might kill everybody with how they cook! I wonder if any of the guys can cook better than those two pink rangers! Hikoma meets the Goseigers and Takeru's in the picture. I wonder if Kaoru Shiba will appear?! I personally wish...

Bladerun's Cyborg Form

Image
Okay I may not be liking Goseiger that much (and I hope Goukaiger will do better, I like Go-onger better), but it's pretty interesting to know how Bladerun despite his damaged self is back as a cyborg to serve the Mantrinitis Empire. Hmmm. Things might get pretty dangerous but, I won't be talking much about Goseiger. Actually this is proof of how weird science can be put into the Super Sentai shows.

Zordon Type Mentors in Super Sentai

Image
I think Power Rangers' Zordon did somewhat create this impact of having "Zordon" type of mentors. However none of these characters were portrayed to be that powerful and made more mistakes than Zordon did. Wisdom Tree Moak- He was a Zordon type IMO, well tree-wise. Hee hee. He is very knowledgeable and he gave the Gingamen their weapons. Plus he was assisted by Bokku. His self-sacrifice in episode 48 to prevent the birth of the Earth Beast was similar to Zordon's sacrifice in Power Rangers in Space. Mr. Voice- Actually he's more of a prop than a mystical being. It's obvious from the start of the series that he's a computer program that runs Search Guard Successor. He like Zordon told the rangers of various locations of the enemies and trouble, except he was using computers. In the end, it was revealed he was actually a computer program (and her avatar) created by Leona Giordana, making him (or it) merely a figurehead and Leona the true head. Master...

Is This Promotion of Shinkenger vs. Goseiger Real or Not?

Image
I found this picture from Toku Insider. So I kind of thought that this could be real. And well, I can't wait to think how this crossover will turn out. Well, I thought of it though that it would be interesting to see a lighter series cross over with a darker series yet again. Looks like the Goseiger vs. Shinkenger crossover will happen after all. Also, remember that the Goseigers made a cameo in Shinkenger vs. Go-onger. Well what are these two red rangers waiting for? By the way Take-chan, I wonder if you'll fly here in the Philippines to get a lucky girl?!

Bad Times For the Goseigers

Image
Well the Goseigers are in for tough times. Why? Here's what's going on... It is revealed that Master Head is gone so a new Heaven's Tower can't be built. The Gosei Ultimate was the cause so they can defeat Makuin (a second time) who was aided by Kinggon. Just imagine an off-line Zordon. Plus the Mantrinitis Empire has arrived. Robogogu and Metal-A of the Agent are the new threat after Yuumaju. Looks like I won't leave Goseiger after all. Are these guys related to Baranoia? Joke.

I've Had Second Thoughts on Leaving Goseiger

Image
Actually I think I'm changing my mind over leaving Goseiger. Why? Somehow Epic 30 was a lively episode with its focus on the cute and adorable Eri. It's very epic to see her a pink ranger do a marvelous job. She's just so lively, well I don't think I can leave the series. Hee hee. Well it was also nice to see the final battle against Makuin. He was simply revealing how vile he can be. So I wonder why he gets written off before Kinggon. The next episode will be Nozomu's birthday where Kinggon will be the final opponent and the Erurei Box plays a big part too. However I may not be doing too many episode recaps but rather focus on new significant points.

Goseiger 29- Bladerun's End

Image
It's just sad to say that Bladerun had potential... but sigh... he meets his end. In this episode, Bladerun meets his end in a treachery vs. treachery battle where he plans to get the Erurei box and Kinggon does get his revenge- that's by using him as a shield against the Goseigers. I kind of find it interesting to how Kinggon isn't as dumb as we think he is also, he took the Bibi Bug Hive and uses it to enlarge Bladerun who meets his demise. You can tell at times I don't like a series that much with such a short summary. :-P

Goseiger's Father and Son Episode

Image
Goseiger 28 almost reminds me of Power Rangers: The Movie except the victims of the hypnosis were CHILDREN. The monster Pikarime puts children under his mind control including Nozumu which causes Professor Amachi serious problems since he's a good father, which becomes the ultimate weapon to break the spell. The power of parental love! On the other hand, I can't wait to see what evil Bladerun will do next now that he's managed to outbest Kinggon. You can tell I don't like Goseiger that much. :-P

Goseiger 27- Backbiting is Deadly

Image
In Goseiger 27, we can see the moral lesson of backbiting is deadly. That's what the enemy is taking advantage of with the monster known as Jogon of the Ningyo. He has the ability to put seashells into people's ears to make people think somebody's backbiting at them. Also in this episode, Bladerun is released with a warning. The monster intends to replace Bladerun. Agri/Gosei Black becomes the victim in this episode. However he is able to overcome this no matter how difficult it is. I just find it amusing how he beats up Kinggon as well.

The Corniest Special Effect in Super Sentai

Image
Taken from Goseiger Epic 26, this is where the cute and adorable Moune gets caught in a bottle. I really think that this is too comical and if this kind of special effects get out of hand, you might get a disaster like... MMPR remastered... good thing it's coming to an end.

Goseiger 26- Laughing Goseigers LOL

Image
This episode is kind of more on the funny side... literally. So I think Hyde's blue color represents the blues, being gloomy since he's the only one not laughing. Eri is just adorable. :-P Here the evil Hitto of the Tengu seeks to remove laughter from the world. For a wtf moment, Alata does some impersonations to give Hyde. This just worked as it attracted the monster and freed the others who were captured. I guess this episode shows blue for coolness and for gloominess as evidenced by Hyde. Anyway, I don't know how to make up for deleting previous Shinkenger reviews I made last because the videos were removed by Youtube (they weren't mine). :-(
