Super Sentai Villains And Death Gas Plots!

Image
Here's some Super Sentai moments where poisoned gas was used as a main plot or not... though this list I assume is pretty incomplete so feel free to throw in your comments on what I missed. In Dynaman episode 47 (now only if I saw more of Dynaman than just some raw videos and the Dynaman parody dub), there's the Poison Gas Weasel monster.  He was created to poison people but according to Power Rangers Wiki , the gas got tainted by the Retro Gene created by Professor Yumeno resulting to rather hilarious consequences. In Bioman episode six, Dr. Man plans to set a rather genius trap that involved Mt. Taikyoku and having an underground trap.  Dr. Man knew he can't face Bio Robo head on so he has Farrah create a trap that would release poison gas into the air.  It was revealed to be a trap for Bio Robo from the beginning to the end of the episode.

Turboranger And Carranger Similarity: Ruffian Bouma And Speed King Max Join The Stars!

Image
Here's a similarity between Turboranger episode 11 and Carranger episode 9. The main difference was Kunio Fuji wrote the Turboranger episode and Yoshio Urasawa wrote the Carranger one. Now for the startling similarities.  Turboranger had the story of the Ruffian Bouma who Zulten released into the modern day. Unknown to everyone in Ragorn's empire but Zulten, Ruffian Bouma had already defected away from the empire.  In that episode, Zulten tried to use Ruffian Bouma to defeat the Turborangers. When all else fails, Ragorn destroys Ruffian Bouma who is then enlarged by Zulten. After a giant robot battle, somehow Ruffian Bouma returns back to his senses. The Turbo Robo then flies into space then drops the dying monster there.  Ruffian Bouma becomes a star. A similar plot was carried into Carranger. While Carranger is considerably what you'd call a very lighthearted season but you still have serious moments like these. In the story, Speed King Max was long missing as...

Sentai WTF Moment: Garoa's Fusing Two Monsters Back To Back?!

Image
When Chevalier arrived in Fiveman as a game-changing villain, Garoa was in the risk of losing his position as captain.  I always thought that while Garoa did achieve something with the Franken Capsule or that, he isn't a total moron... however, here's one plot in Fiveman was probably really very crazy.  I took the images from Toku Monster . Garoa was trying to secure his position in the most moronic way possible.  He combines Eagle Gin and Gorilla Gin BACK TO BACK?  WTF!  I thought that the episode was pretty stupid (but entertaining) in its own way.  The two had disagreement problems which caused the monster to be ineffective. But I was wondering if the disagreement was also planned by Garoa so the two can generate such a strong wind against the Fivemen.  At first, it felt effective but the combined stupidity of the combined monsters managed to be Garoa's downfall in that episode.  I found the whole idea of beating a monster with flip cards...

Super Sentai Villain Midseason Upgrades

Image
Seldom in Tokusatsu or does it happen a lot, villains do sometimes decide to reorganize their organizations or upgrade their equipment because the heroes do get upgrades.  Now for the kinds of upgrades that I can remember... please do feel free to tell me what I'm missing. Change of monster of the week composition.  Deathdark used Neometal to create advanced Mozoo beasts, the Jashinka also changed the composition of their monsters to stronger metal, Dr. Lee Keflen of Mess later made monsters with the genes of La Deus, Bandora later used Dokeeta clay to make stronger monsters (though the effect was as usual very temporary) and Dr. Hinelar later created Psycho-Nejire monsters with Javious' DNA. In the case of Gear in Bioman, Doctor Man began upgrading his technology from episodes 31-34 during the power-up arc.  He introduces the Metal Megas after some kind of meteorite passed through Earth.  He also later rebuilds Psygorn, Mettlzer and Juuoh far stronger than the...

A Rundown on My Thoughts on Super Sentai Villain Monster of the Week Plots

Image
In Super Sentai, one of the many things I enjoy about it are the rather preposterous schemes that villains do in their efforts to either take over the world or to destroy the Super Sentai.  Here's how I can categorize them... The standard begin the invasion plot- Super Sentai apparently releases a monster without the rather flamboyant schemes that make Super Sentai enjoyable.  So the bad guys release a monster to attack the Earth only to be stopped by the Super Sentai. Focused on destroying the team alone- Sometimes some monsters were created to focus on destroying the Sentai team.  Juice Jigen in Jetman was created to divide the Jetmen so they can be easily defeated. Things are getting desperate so get the strongest possible monster- This kinda happens sometimes in later series.  In Turboranger, we have Rehda using the Chomajin Bouma to try and defeat the Turborangers after the deaths of Zimba and Jarmin.  In Jetman, we have Semimaru as an example. ...

Some Possible Meanings Behind the Gorma Monsters

Image
I haven't thought much for the Zyuranger monsters but I've decided to do some Dairanger monster analysis for now.  Not all will be featured though: Key Jester- The symbolism of the key here is that he gains access to areas.  He gets the souls of children via the "key of their heart". Mirror Magician- Another mirror-based monster and for me, better done than Mirror Jigen.  This monster trapped women into his dimension whenever they looked at the mirror emphasizing vanity. Father Magnet symbolized the power of magnetic poles- when two things are too alike, they repel and when two things aren't so alike they attract. Kabuki Kozou represented the art of acting- you can pretend all you want but you'll never be what you pretend. Kageru Zukin as a flame-based monster may have also portrayed making intense decisions.  After all it caught Daigo and Kujaku attempting to destroy them leaving the other Dairangers in a heated decision. Copy Empress may sy...

Some Meanings Behind Jetman's Monsters of the Week?

Image
While watching Chojin Sentai Jetman, I thought there were some meanings to convey with these monsters.  I'm not putting all monsters but some of them anyway: Faucet Jigen- I thought there was some chilling symbolism with this.  While faucets provide water to bring life, however this one does the reverse it kills.  In fact, some people have died being absorbed by this monster. Road Jigen- Stop, ready go... it seemed to weave through the episode.  Kaori had some stop (think about what you are doing), ready (she knees her former fiance) and go (she joins the Jetman) for me.  In this one, also Radiguet considered his monster to be the end of order by perverting a traffic light's use that is to promote order in the roads. House Jigen- I guess this symbolizes the statement "You're not safe in your own house." Mirror Jigen- For me, this is probably an address of "stuck in vanity" as many of the others were sucked in the mirror admiring themselves th...

Super Sentai Perverts

Image
In Super Sentai there have been some perverts I'd like to bring out into notice.  They are... Takeru/Red Mask as a kid.  Okay while he's a pretty decent person and likable character as of present, everybody was shocked to find out that the little him was a pervert who lifted Haruka's and Momoko's skirts.  I wonder how he overcame perversity since there's no detail to how he matured in the middle of being a kid up to the point he became a Maskman. Kiros really had some nerve to stare at Ial bathing for some time. I guess Gai Yuki will count especially when was caught climbing up to peep at the girls while they were at the hot spring resort.  Then he tricked Ryu into falling into the girls' bathing area.  However aside from that, he hasn't been seen doing upskirts on women. When Kou appeared at first, he was a pervert who abused his powers by looking at female underwear and two, he groped Lin's breasts.  However he was a short-term pervert ...
