Super Sentai Strongest Battle Mini-Series VS. The First Super Hero Taisen Movie

Image
I remembered some time ago where I wrote an entry bashing Power Rangers ' short feature episode "Dimensions in Danger" . However, there's yet another movie by Toei Ltd. that I'd say reminds me I've got a LONG way to learn about better storytelling - it's the first  Super Hero Taisen   movie . I gave some painful jabs on "Dimensions in Danger" but it doesn't mean I have completely forgotten why I still hate the first  Super Hero Taisen  movie like there's no tomorrow. The whole movie was so full of annoying sob stories and a bigger mess. I can understand if I can write really bad stories because I'm no story writer. However, Toei has producers and writers to guide it so why did it become the mess it was? At least, the didn't hire me to write the script or they'd go bankrupt with the special effects! Now, it's time to consider my comparison between the two massive crossovers. Super Sentai Strongest battle is not just an ...

My Thoughts On Space Squad VS. Super Hero Taisen

Image
Last year, producer Shinichiro Shirakura announced that he was pulling off the plug of the Super Hero Taisen movies . It was also in the year 2017 when Gavan vs. Dekaranger made its premiere (which also somehow tries to connect itself with Dekaranger: Ten Year After which happened last 2014)  and Chou Super Hero Taisen became the last movie. I admit, my feelings for the Super Hero Taisen films have been mixed -- I still tend to think that the concepts are better off placed in video games and Manga because an hour or two movie is NOT enough to contain such a huge plot. So did Super Hero Taisen's plug get pulled out in favor of Space Squad? It looks like it! So why do I think the plug out of Super Hero Taisen was removed last 2017? I guess it's all about budget and avoiding work overload. A certain degree of workload reduction can be very helpful to improve the quality of innovation. It takes well-rested minds and a healthy workforce to think good ideas and to make sure that...

My Thoughts On Shinichiro Shirakura's Announcement Of Possibly Discontinuing The Super Hero Taisen Film Series

Image
It's no secret that I still view the first Super Hero Taisen with utter dislike or view it like as if Spongebob and Patrick had a fight and fan war. At first, I was excited for that film but then it ended up with one person after the other hating it. Just a bit of note to other people criticizing it - most crossover movies made by Toei are usually out of canon and are just what if scenarios.  Tokusatsu News Network translated Shinichiro Shirakura's statement as follows: We do not intend to do “Spring” movies. The “FINAL” on this one’s title refers to this as well and it concentrated the efforts for both the Winter and Spring movies.  The Amazons movie is part of another thing, separate from the main Rider movies. We would like to bring something impressive. Do I hate the SHT idea entirely? For me, I did enjoy Chou Super Hero Taisen for quite awhile, Kamen Rider Grand Prix, Super Hero Taisen Z (to a lesser extent) and Kamen Rider Grand Prix but none of those mo...

Wishful Thinking: Captain Marvelous/Gokai Red And Tsukasa Kadoya/Kamen Rider Decade As Guest Stars In Kyuranger

Image
There's an upcoming Kyuranger episode where Banban Akaza and Geki Jumonji will show up just made my crazy imagination flow out of control. I feel like it's been a huge breath of fresh air with how Kyuranger isn't your typical Super Sentai. So what's my current wishful thinking as of late? Here's a few stuff that I wish would happen considering this series looks like it's ready to welcome in a lot and I mean a lot of guest stars from the vast Toei Tokusatsu Multiverse . Now it's time to give my newest wishful thinking on two characters that I want to show up as guest stars. As much I always felt Kamen Rider Decade caused a meltdown  but the problem was more of the implementation than the idea. Gokaiger succeeded where Decade failed as an anniversary season. As much as I don't like the first Super Hero Taisen Movie (because Marvelous and Decade were acting like toddlers fighting over which franchise is better). What I want to happen is to see both Marv...

Super Hero Taisen Series May Be Better Off As A Video Game Series Than A Film Series

Image
After watching Zyuohger's villains doing the Blood Game, some entries of the Super Hero Taisen film series and remembering the Super Robot Wars series gave me the thought that the Super Hero Taisen film series is better off as a video game series than a movie series. The Super Hero Taisen film series really ticks me off execution-wise but idea-wise, the concepts are really not bad at all! Creating what may be considered as the " VS. Universe " for the crossover series might as well create a Super Hero Taisen Universe exclusive to the video games. The concept of Super Hero Taisen film series is better off in a video game. A single movie is NEVER enough to fully explore the ideas that were presented in each and every entry. Patrick Star should've said, "We should get all the Super Sentai and Kamen Riders and put them into one video game." instead of putting them into one movie. The Super Hero Taisen films really had some creative ideas like what if we had a...

Sentai Rambling: Kamen Rider Decade and Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger As Anniversary Seasons That Were HUGE Massive Crossovers!

Image
ONERE DIKEDO!  Well that's the phrase from Kamen Rider Decade.  What must be established is that there is NO Sentai timeline and that Kamen Rider and Super Sentai as series are independent from each other's continuity and that the crossovers themselves are NOT part the continuity to either which show. Kamen Rider Decade... ONORE DIKEDO!!!!!! Kamen Rider Decade (the 10th Heisei Rider hence the name) appears with the story of Nine Alternate Reality versions of Kuuga, Agito, Ryuki, Faiz, Blade, Hibiki, Kabuto, Den-O and Kiva which presented different versions of their original versions.  The show would later feature more than the nine worlds when it also added the World of Shinkenger (which is Shinkenger's continuity), the World of Black/Black RX (two alternate versions of Kotaro Minami even show up) and the World of Amazon.  There was no finale except for the Kamen Rider Decade movie which came later.  Boy, did this series suck or what?! Since most of the K...

Movie Review: Super Hero Taisen Z

Image
So I really have done a review on Super Hero Taisen which was one horrible, horrible movie written by Shoji Yonemura who I love to call as "Patrick Star".  So we do know or realize that Kamen Rider is separate from Super Sentai if you've seen the Decade series which explains that the world of Shinkenger is a world without riders (just like the series involved in Nicktoons Unite all belong to self-contained continuities) plus Toei said it themselves that most Sentai series are self-contained.  Now moving on for this non-canon crossover. Compared to Super Hero Taisen which is garbage in detail, read review here , this movie though it is still messy and mind you I don't like Kyoryuger's samba and dinosaurs (agreed so much to Shougo B'Stard), however this movie has some of its positive points.  It focuses on Wizard, Gavan II, Sharivan II, Shaider II (well I guess Shaider died with his actor) and the epic appearance of Gai Ikari.  This also had Suzuka Morita pla...

Another Super Hero Taisen Movie?

Image
I don't know but I seem quite negative with the idea of another Super Hero Taisen movie after seeing the disaster that it was- a "masterpiece" that looked like Spongebob Squarepants' and Patrick Star's messy writing. Producer Shinichiro Shirakura has actually said that the "Super Hero Taisen 2" which he hints it will be something new and different.  Hopefully they'll get a better to carry out the job.  S I do hope they all learned from the disaster that was Super Hero Taisen and hopefully it'll be better. Super Hero Taisen Review

Image
I had just finished viewing Super Hero Taisen and seriously, I'll really write a review that's really what I'd call a series of mixed emotions that came along the way. At first, I was pretty excited at the concept of Super Sentai and Kamen Riders joining together, Decade's crossover with Shinkenger succeeded where Saban's Mashed Rider failed but apparently this film is what I'd call as if Shoji Yonemura really teaming up with a bunch of morons to write this and for Shinichiro Shirakura, he just wants to make everything look cool when in fact it's nothing more than childish fan wars in the beginning. This piece of trash is what I'd call something Patrick Star would write, yes it is indeed written by Patrick Star! Nice aesthetics, nice concepts but eventually it's ruined by bad writing to a huge extent! It's just like Operation Overdrive's got a nice concept of the Corona Aurora but ends up being one of the worst seasons because of the way i...

Super Hero Taisen... Some Gush Value...

Image
Well talk about GUSH.... I'm GUSHING!  As said, this was the result of this... Just a funny illustration and kudos to whoever made this funny photo... you rock! Well this one makes me gush.  Why?  I remembered watching both Maskman and Kamen Rider Black as a child.  Both series were part of that childhood and delusions.  Just seeing them even for awhile is an "ooohhhh" to me remembering both series. Or one can consider what if your childhood favorites fought side by side to correct a timeline gone wrong?   Then again how did Black and Black RX split again- it's been I mean the third time the past and future meet?! I am yet to see but I will definitely want to see it.  Even if I'm not much of a Kamen Rider fan but it's fun to relive those good times that prevented me from going insane.
