I'm more or less "caught up" with Avatar Sentai Donbrothers.  I've been the watching the series in very irregulat paces these days. Then again I no longer plan to do episode reviews as blogging is JUST A HOBBY. I realized a few things as 2022 ends. Toei Ltd. did hit the market big in 1993. I did write a post talking about that during Power Rangers' silver anniversary and the same year when Dimensions in Danger kicked in. This week has a very weird side plot where Haruka Kito takes driving lessons. Yup, her auntie who she lives with decided to enroll her to take driving lessons ASAP! Inoue is also known to revisit old scripts AND add a twist. Inoue was known to have written the X-1 Mask episode in  Hikari Sentai Maskman . It was a one-parter that provided a template for two characters - Burai and Gai Yuki. Though, Inoue didn't do much in  Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger . Later,  Inoue had two episodes in  Mirai Sentai Timeranger . Inoue juggled in between  Timeran...

Bonjour my readers! Okay, I'll be sounding much less enthusiastic right now and I feel like I may need to slow down. I probably need to take a bit of pacing by not sticking to an exact schedule within the week to when I write le episode reviews only when I can. Anyway, I'm just glad that there's still some readers here and there though I'd appreciate it if people can tell me how I can improve my reviews. Anyway, I decided to use some French again for le title which means "split personality" -- which this episode takes it way too literally! Le newest monster Doriun Sanp is causing people to be divided into three. This is really a funny scene when you just don't realize you probably have more than one hidden personality. It all surfaces in one hit. Worse, Kogure is even hit by it causing much confusion! It gets funny to meet le super nice guy Kogure. Okay, he's an old man but he sure was acting like a polite youngster to an old woman. I guess...

This week is full of flamboyant humor. I've known the fact that some the best martial artists where also really good dancers (ex. Bruce Lee) while this episode fools people into joining into a martial arts dojo that teaches only aerobics? Well, aerobics is part of martial arts but that alone won't make you a martial artist. Note that this episode is written by Atatsuki Yamatoya -- take note he also wrote that really crazy episode in Shinkenger where Mr. Brown attempted to become a samurai! Le beginning of le episode has a chicken monster like Byodor. I was wondering are we selling fried chicken here or what? He disappears and suddenly more hilarious hijinks happen! Yup, a crazy fat old man appears forcing people into his dojo. Le next victim is none other than Touma. This gets even funnier with how things turn out to be. So it turns out that Sakuya is le assistant mentor? He's assistant mentor all of a sudden? Le people at le police station discuss le absurdi...

Bonjour readers and subscribers! It's time for another Lupinranger vs. Patranger episode -- which really made me TOO HUNGRY to think of a proper post. I was planning not to give an episode review and write a food entry rant. Looks like I decided to do le weekly review after all though I'm wondering should I go minimalist on le pictures here soon? Anyway, let's move on! Le beginning has a new trio all named after food called the Raimon Gang. The members are known as Raimon Garofang (the leader and possibly a pun on lemon), Giwi Newzie (a pun on New Zealand, the kiwi bird as well as the kiwi fruit) and Ushibaroque the Brawl (a bull). They are le potential new successors of Don Dogranio's mafia gang.  At le restaurant -- we see that Noel is enjoying some delicious fish. Touma reveals he's no compliment addict and just wants people to enjoy their meals properly. Meanwhile, we also learn of this fiasco... Le police tried to draw out le Gangler but to no av...

I remembered seeing Fiveman episode 33 dubbed in Tagalog back in the 90s. It was also back in that day when I played Pog and a lot of my Pog sets got confiscated by the teachers. A lot of Pogs were confiscated because they were study hazards. Sure, nothing wrong with owning Pogs but a school is a school, right? I think Gaku Hoshikawa would still confiscate them if he were my teacher. Anyway, let's move on to the episode shall we?  This episode was full of laughs. Aside from Garoa's really huge colossal failure of incompletely combining both Galactic Beasts back to back  it also featured the brains vs. brawn episode. The monster has tremendous strength and it could have ripped the whole world apart in that episode. Gaku finds his Menko cards as a child and decides to use them against this bizarre creature. The monster gets too obsessed with Menko since it's obsessed with flipping things. So how could the monster not budge a Menko card is beyond me but it was funny ho...

This feels like Poison Ivy not knowing Bruce Wayne is Batman After watching Carranger and well, it might not be Valentine's Day and I discovered this... wow I can't believe that some of my favorite Sentai red rangers share some kind of ill-fated romance namely Takeru (Maskman) with Ial, Ryu with Rie/Maria (it doesn't help that Kaori likes him and Gai likes Kaori), Tatsuya and Yuuri and well... Kyousuke has it with Zonette which is however a parody of romances (in Abaranger, Asuka may be black but he has shared an ill-fated romance with Jannu which fortunately had a happy ending). Carranger's comedic romance is really THAT entertaining. The whole comedy itself is when Zonette is only in love with Red Racer, not the man in the suit which creates a series of complicated problems, written in a comedic way. What is very funny is that Zonette is unaware of the fact that the "monkey faced civilian" Kyousuke and the Red Racer are just the same person. Hmmm... I f...

Maskman had one particular episode that I found funny... but at the same time not all that surprising. I mean Takeru back 13 years ago remind me of me as a child. Now here's where the comedy is really kicking in... At the beginning of the episode, Takeru demonstrates his badass karate. Yes it's really, REALLY impressive to see all that. You hardly see that in new school Sentai. Now the whole plot involved time travel because Igam wanted to eliminate Takeru in the past... and for a plan, it certainly IS a good one. Kill Takeru in the past, the Maskmen are forever disbanded. However the episode felt comedic when things don't turn out the way it should be. But the Maskmen meet a WAY different Takeru than their leader. Now, it made me think of the Shinkenger episode where Takeru Shiba's secret of peeing on his pants over a ghost house incident was funny... but this one is a bigger, darker secret than the second Takeru in the amusement park. Super Sentai villains are usually known for launching convoluted schemes in their quest to achieve invasion plots, destroy humanity, etc.  Which in Maskman for a more serious series, one episode was really comical for me.  It involved one really weird scheme in Super Sentai I wish was repeated in other Super Sentai seasons. What I found funny about this is the oddity it caused... making people fight because their faces SWAPPED?!   Now I understand Tube wants to invade the surface world but swapping faces is one ridiculous plan to take over the world.  

Carranger itself is known for its lighthearted gags.  Although my impression of it is not really a joke series, I can't deny that the humor of the show is noteworthy.  Now let's try to examine the humor behind imo yokan which is Japanese for sweet potato jelly in Carranger! Seriously Imocho, can't you see anything wrong there?! What makes the humor so funny?  For one, most Super Sentai villains wouldn't politely buy their own sweet potato jelly from a store.  Who can imagine any Super Sentai villain for that matter being polite if they wanted sweet potato jelly?  For example, if I were a Sentai villain, I'd probably kidnap Imocho, enslave him and a bunch of people to make me some sweet potato jelly.  But no, Grotch is sent to buy some imo yokan from Imocho who for some reason, doesn't suspect anything strange about the former.  Again, I can't help but comment how unrealistic most Sentai costumes are which makes it so easy for kids to know it's ju...

Dekaranger despite its being a cop show... is a show you can say is filled with some well-timed humor and one can see this in Ban vs. Hoji.  Now this is really a conflict of two personalities... the reckless fireball vs. the ever dedicated professional. Now I would share my biases here... what I like about Hoji better than Sky in SPD is that, the former doesn't think he should be the red ranger nor does he whine about it.  Hoji trusts his whole group but can't stand Ban.  It's funny how Hoji can withstand Sen's eccentric nature and Umeko being childish... while it's only normal he agrees with Jasmine and Tetsu who looks up to him... but he doesn't get along with Ban.  It was later revealed that he looked up to Gyoku Rou, who was originally to be Deka Red but got too injured to serve that post. What I like Hoji is that he is a jerk with a heart of gold.  Now he's a jerk in the sense that, he can get overly strict, too trim, follow by the book BUT you ca...

Be afraid, be very afraid!!!!! Now I'd also like to start a series of entries called the "Sentai Comedy" series. These are my opinions on what I personally think were moments in Sentai that made me LOL and LMAO. Now my first entry for this is one of Shinkenger's crazy moments... characters get scared but I am on LMAO mode. Prepare your stomach pills everyone! I would admit that bad cooking is one of my favorite sources of humor... and she and Yuuri, two of my favorite pinks , are bad cooks! Ryunosuke testifies on TV... that this was the cake that got him hospitalized!!!! The first unfortunate victim of her bad cooking was Ryunosuke. What I found funny about that episode was this. Come on, he could have just TOLD HER that the cooking was SO TERRIBLE. Takes a bite, spits it out, then consumes it and I guess that traumatized him so he's glad Mako wasn't interested in him beyond his problems. How he survived (or most characters for a fact) is really unknow...
