Filipino Movies with Sentai Themes

Image
Here are a few Sentai-based Filipino films and here are some I can remember: Obviously inspired by Bioman, Bio Kids came and as the name suggests, they were all children.  So I'd say it's not a bad movie, but it's not good either but I'd like to say that using their henshin powers to beat up normal bad guys wasn't ethical IMO.  They were against the odds of Mr. Clown (inspired by the Joker no doubt, maybe a rip-off of Iron Claw) who later creates the artificial being Exxor to deal with them.  This was in 1990, the year Fiveman was aired in Japan.  Here's what I consider funny: Red Lion 1, Green Dragon 2, Blue Eagle 3, Yellow Tiger 4, Pink Panther 5... which later Gingaman had Gingared with a lion theme, Burai was Dragonranger a green ranger and Boi was Tigerranger a yellow ranger. A team of children came before Kou came into creation. Conclusion: Original ideas may fail at first but they may succeed if done right.  Hmmm... maybe we can take failed ideas...

Super Sentai Tagalog Dubs with Tagalog Songs Inserted

Image
Super Sentai before the dawn of Power Rangers in the Philippines was a way of life.  So far, there have been some Tagalog dubs and many of them happen to have gags perhaps so the audience can understand the song. So here are they: In Turboranger episode six, an old man was singing "Anak ng Pasig" (Child of Pasig) in the dub. In Jetman episode 15, Ako Hayasaka in the dub sang "AKO ay Pilipino." (I'm a Filipino)  Pun intended. Well... here's my closing thoughts just for fun. Shinkenger should be dubbed in Filipino and let Genta sing "Si Filimon." to replace whatever Japanese folk song he sang.

Frustated Filipino Super Sentai Fans

Image
I personally thought of it that Filipinos can be frustrated Super Sentai fans. Why? Well are some of my reasons: IBC-13 and RPN-9 had the bad habit of not finishing the Super Sentai show. They left it always hanging and never showing the ending. Fortunately ABC-5 showed the endings of Jetman and Fiveman. I don't think Goranger was ever finished either. They were doing it to just keep getting profits- unethically! Sadly after Jetman, the only Toku that was shown later were the Ultraman series (from Tsubaraya) and Sentai's partner Kamen Rider on local TV. Although Black RX wasn't shown on Filipino TV- they did have Kamen Rider Ryuki. Not all Kamen Riders did push through. Power Rangers came in and some Super Sentai fans who are Filipino end up making bad comments. Well some Filipinos loved it, others really hated it. Disney's PR was terrible starting when Bruce Kalish entered. Yup Bruce Kalish gave Disney a bad image plus, Disney handled it pretty bad. So Fil...

Filipinos, Super Sentai and Power Rangers

Image
Honestly speaking, Filipino fans (and I a current resident of the Philippines who is forced to watch non-subbed Sentai) have been having their dilemmas of "missing pieces" of their younger days. I agree. It's frustrating really. Ha ha. Here are some Sentai shown to Filipinos dubbed in the national language (edited to reduce on-screen violence without changing the story): Goggle V- Only up to episode 20. Boo hoo. I watched the finale on the Internet and found the final battle with Fuehrer Taboo really lame but it did wrap everything perfectly. However it did wrap up the story well. Bioman- Finished. It was shown in English. Some rumors say Saban dubbed Bioman. I think so because the pink ranger was named Kimberly. Maskman- Sadly only up to episode 50. It was a beautiful love story for some. My favorite had to be the not-so-practical Takeru/Red Mask dubbed as Michael Joe. Turboranger- Sadly only up to episode 31. I liked Turboranger's concept of te...
