I never thought I'd put this into writing but I want to write about the Super Sentai crossover hype. If you try to do some reviews you might notice that the crossover hype wasn't done overnight. There were some stage shows then later TV performances. I want to write about the Super Sentai crossover hype which was shelved for a long time but came back during the late 90s and has been continuing until this present year of 2017. Now, I decided to update this post in regards to Donbrothers really refusing to become more "self-contained" like Go-Busters did.  The ongoing yearly Super Sentai vs. Super Sentai VS Movies It started with JAKQ vs. Goranger which were the only two series made by Shotaro Ishinomori.   I wanted to go on a hiatus (or even eventually stop blogging about Super Sentai altogether). Now, it's time to look at what I might call a new type of mecha combination. It's really not enough that the other rangers become CGI-deformed people.  This is really one weird way to do the mecha... Previously, we saw the Donbrothers become CGI-deformed characters. Some even defy their sizes like how in the world did one's spandex (insert Dr. K's jokes here) get LONGER LEGS or how can one become a midget dog or a bulky gorilla? What I find even more logic-defying is how in the world do they become mecha versions of themselves? Instead of piloting the mecha - they BECOME the Mecha. I was watching Donbrothers and it's been hard not to think about Beast Morphers . Call me weird all you want but it happened. I wonder why is Donbrothers even using the ability to become past Super Sentai... pretty much like  Gokaiger ? At one moment where I'm praising Go-Busters for trying to make Enetron independent of all other sources - I'm now wondering if I'm badmouthing Donbrothers for linking itself to Zenkaiger so directly? As if having both Zoey and Haruka showing their jobs as noble heroism wasn't enough. I did write an article about why a Super Sentai Morphin' Grid is just impossible . However, what if the concept was integrated into the VS. Movies and the anniversary seasons (as well as some selected seasons) without us knowing it?   Maskman turned 30 last 2017 and 35 this year. The cast reunion (above) is a charm. I wonder about the private lives of the others such as who married who? I viewed some of Kaiju No Kami's reviews where he seems to give Gekiranger and Dairanger scores higher than Maskman . Kaiju No Kami gave Maskman an average 3/5 Grown Ups In Spandex score which means, "It's not that good but you still need to watch it." Besides, I even heard how Maskman wasn't originally well-received though older fans loved it. Was it the same thing that happened with Timeranger ? I feel Kaiju No Kami probably represents that population of Power Rangers fans checking out the Super Sentai franchise. Their choices may differ especially if you're dealing with the pre- Zyuranger era - shows that came before Mighty Morphin' helped Toei Ltd. get a chunk of the American market. Okay, here's an old list I decided to update. Yellow rangers were usually male but there were times when they were female. In Power Rangers , most of the male yellow rangers are given female counterparts for some cultural reason. I admit I wasn't too shocked that Trini's counterpart in Zyuranger is a MAN because Turboranger had a male yellow ranger. I decided to update this post because of Haruka Kito herself. Here are the female yellow rangers in Super Sentai up to the present: Mika Koizumi/Yellow Four 1 and Jun Yabuki/Yellow Four 2 She was the first yellow ranger in Super Sentai history. Sadly she's the first female ranger to be killed off too. Bioman wanted to do so but there was some behind-the-scenes conflict with Yuki Yaijima. Yuki abruptly left the show and not so many know why she did it. Mika was presented as a loner who just wanted to be left alone. I gave an assessment of Power Rangers Beast Morphers with a positive and negative . I guess I don't really hate the franchise even if I could shout out loud that I still dislike it for PERSONAL REASONS. Right now, I'd rather say I blame Toei Ltd. as to why Super Sentai was overshadowed for some time in the Western fanbase or why Power Rangers shows on Philippine TV instead of Super Sentai. It was Toei Ltd. who gave Saban Entertainment the rights in the first place! I guess Kamen Rider has been cheaper to air huh? Then again I guess Kamen Rider is more lucrative to Philippine TV which is why the networks choose it. Right now, I'm watching Avatar Sentai Donbrothers but at a very irregular pace especially with how the digital age creates massive distractions. Though, I didn't give high hopes for either Beast Morphers or Donbrothers . Honestly, Kikou Sentai Zenkaiger just doesn't meet my expectations implementation-wise.
