When The First Megazord Takes A Little Longer Before It Saw Combat

Image
I've been watching Donbrothers at an irregular pace so you may notice I no longer do episode reviews. I noticed that it's been eight episodes of Donbrothers and the first Megazord hasn't even combined it. It seems Don Momotaro is taking over the spot in the giant mecha battles in the past few episodes. Just note that I'm using the term Megazord even if the term wasn't applied to Super Sentai until Go-Busters when every mecha was called a Megazord. The term Megazord has been used in the Power Rangers fandom. I may not like Power Rangers but I'm still comfortable in calling the warriors "rangers" and mecha "zords". Back then, I haven't seen much of older Super Sentai so I didn't notice the trend that much. Super Sentai had its first Megazord but it was under construction until episode five when it first saw combat. I was probably too used to seeing the Megazord appear a little earlier since Chodenshi Bioman (which was pretty weird by

Toshiki Inoue: For Better Or For Worse

Image
I remembered one of Shogo B'Stard's entries and one of them was Toshiki Inoue and his finales . If there were two Toku writers I feel don't put their best in finales - it's both him and Yasuko Kobayashi . I still find it all too weird the way both Gai Yuki and Naoto Takizawa died - one died by a thug and the other by a lowly footsoldier from a distance. Both Gai and Naoto are douchebag anti-heroes in their own series though the latter is the sixth ranger. Hojo Toru in Kamen Rider Agito is pretty much the douchebag antihero who I wish was played by Shinji Kasahara. Inoue tends to be one of those guys who gets known for good episodes and his screw-ups.  That's why I wanted to panic with his appearance in Avatar Sentai Donbrothers - just remember how Hirohisa Soda fell down during Kosoku Sentai Turboranger (and I feel like fans of Power Rangers are going to rant on me over and over again that Gekisou Sentai Caaaarrrrrannger is SO MUCH BETTER) and  Chikyu Sentai Fivem

Rangers With The Same First Names In Super Sentai

Image
Okay, this blog entry is rather old (written last June 5, 2011) and I decided to UPDATE IT. Yes, it's because of the recent discovery that we've got another Haruka as a yellow ranger. I decided to update this list where some characters have the same first names (and even THE SAME RANGER DESIGNATION) while others have different ranger colors. With that said, here's a bit of an UPDATED history lesson, get it? Haruka (Yellow Mask) and Haruka Kito (Oni Sister) Recently, I really failed to notice this one and this is why I'm updating this old post. Both of them are yellow rangers. With this in mind...here are others you may have noticed had the same first names.  Tyuyoshi Kaijo (Akaranger) and Tyuyoshi Kijino (Kiji Brother) Both of them have named Tyuyoshi. Pink is a lighter variation of red. I just wonder if having the first male pink ranger is actually because of that? Then again many pink rangers had male stunt doubles too! Akira Shinmei/Aoranger, Akira Momoi/Denzi Pink,

Junko Komura's Seems To Hit The Mark With Non-Anniversaries, Misses The Mark With Anniversaries

Image
Granted, Junko Komura is a writer for the Pretty Cure series. What I didn't realize was that she was that secondary writer for several Super Sentai series such as Engine Sentai Go-Onger  (which I hate now after Gekisou Sentai Carranger ran over it), Tensou Sentai Goseiger , Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger , Hikonin Sentai Akibaranger , Kamen Rider Drive , and served as a major contributor for Kamen Rider Wizard  - a series I felt failed to meet its potential. Komura herself would have three major Super Sentai involvements - Doubotsu Sentai Zyuohger , Kaito Sentai Lupinranger vs. Keisatsu Sentai Patranger , and last year's Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger . I would like give my personal thoughts. If you like any of the shows I bash - I'm fine with it. If you dislike any of the shows I like (ex. Seijuu Sentai Gingaman for those who might want to say Power Rangers Lost Galaxy and maybe Choshinsei Flashman  are better) then I'M STILL FINE WITH IT. Granted, my opinions should NEVER affect wha

"Saber + Zenkaiger: Super Hero Senki": The "Never-Ending Story" Of Super Sentai And Kamen Rider

Image
\ Well, it's sometimes better late than never though I believe it's better never late, right? I'm now reviewing Saber + Zenkaiger Super Hero Senki which was very much last year. Now, I want to give my thoughts on several stuff I'm catching up ever since real life caught up. The movie was due to the fact that Kamen Rider turned 50 years old and Super Sentai had its 45th season. Though, Kiramager was aired on the 45th adversary of Goranger with the monsters-of-the-week serving as tribute to the Masked Monsters. Now, it's time to look at another non-canon movie which seems to throw in elements from The Never Ending Story (which may be an inspiration to  Kamen Rider Saber ).  The movie has the tandem writing of Nobuhiro Mouri and Junko Komura. I personally think Komura is hit or miss - she did well in Lupinranger vs. Patranger but I'm not fond of her anniversaries including the most recent one. Zyuohger was more eye candy and was only watchable IMHO because Power
