My Final Thoughts On Denziman

Image
So I finally finished Denziman. While I normally prefer old school Super Sentai to new school ones but it's not always the case. For me, it's all about which show does good and there have been good new school shows such as Go-Busters (though it's about to go old school now) and maybe I can say Kyuranger (sorry bashers) or even Lupinranger vs. Patranger for me. But, I'd like to really talk about how Denziman just ends up passable in my list of Super Sentai series watched. So how does it go? I could go on and on with the following issues... I think Queen Hedorian of Denziman is well, basic. I need to cut some slack considering it's still an early Super Sentai. Maybe, the madness of Bandora in Zyuranger (which was also acted by the late Soga Machiko) is more fun to watch than Denziman. While she's an interesting villain in the sense that she's actually a benevolent boss in many ways but Bandora was more interesting to watch. Maybe, I could also say...

My Thoughts On Denziman Halfway

Image
Well, I've reached half of Denziman. Rather than do a batch review of episodes -- I decided to do this kind of rant because I'm currently trying to focus on Kamen Rider Zi-O (trying to wrap it up) and Ryusoulger (weekly episodes though I may soon focus on other newer stuff soon). So here's my thoughts on Denziman which is pretty much from the pre-Hirohisa Soda and pre-Takeyuki Suzuki era. The main characters If you're watching some old school then learn to cut some slack. If not, you might as well not watch every old school Tokusatsu series if you feel you have a generation gap. In my case, shows from the 80s can still click with me in contrast to the way older shows. So, what's with the characters? It's obvious that everyone has their colors written over their names. The names are Ippei AKAgi (red), Daigoro Oume (blue), June KIyama (yellow), Tatsuya MIDOrikawa (green), and Akira MOMOi (pink). What's more interesting is that the red ranger's surnam...

I'm Currently Watching Denziman

Image
Sometimes, if there's a silly (if ever) reason why I tend to like older Super Sentai better is that I can watch at my own pace -- as if I could do the same thing with newer Kamen Rider this year! Now, I'm currently watching Denzi Sentai Denziman at my own pace. It will take some time for me to adjust to series that's before the Hirohisa Soda era -- I've had some hard time adjusting to Sun Vulcan and Battle Fever J too. Now, it's time to look at the first evil queen role the late Soga Machiko had. Is it me or does she look like Marvel Comics' version of Loki's daughter Hela? Machiko herself has played evil queens such as Pandora of Spielban (who was just downright f***ed up cruel) and Bandora of Zyuranger. Here, her first role exists as a wicked woman who has different standards for physical beauty. She thinks the Earth is ugly for her taste and decides to "beautify" it by distorting the world as she sees fit. This is a young Machiko serving her...

"Shinkenger Hints" in Past Super Sentai

Image
Before Shinkenger, the idea of the samurai seems to be hinted for a decade or more. Here are the following series as one or more of the team wore samurai suits or at least, the actor or actress: Battle Fever J introduced a samurai-like robot and Commander Kurama Tetsuzan was an expert in handling the samurai sword. Takayuki Hiba/Vul Eagle II was a master in Kendo. One episode of Denziman had the team in several cosplays, one of them being the samurai.

Sentai Groups Without Individual Ranger Signature Weapons

Image
There were some ranger groups that just didn't have the individual ranger signature weapons. They are: Denshi Sentai Denjiman Taiyo Sentai Sun Vulcan Chodenshi Bioman Dengeki Sentai Changeman Chojin Sentai Jetman

Sentai Android Assistants

Image
Super Sentai had robot assistants. The idea got ported for Power Rangers' Alpha Five (but he didn't exist in Zyuranger). I'd like to display them: IC the Denjidog may look like a real dog but he's actually a robot from the Denji Star. The concept was also ported into the Metal Hero series Metalder. Peebo is the first humanoid one. He's a cross between Kamen Rider and C3Po. He was more of an assistant than a commander. His personality IMO would later be used for Alpha Five in Power Rangers. He's been able to cry when Mika Koizumi died in episode 10. There was MAC from Flashman who assisted the Flashmen. Colon was the first action oriented android assistant. She's also the first female assistant. Arthur G6 is the Hoshikawa family guardian. He also becomes a cannon when needed. Gogo V had Mint a cheery and child-like assistant android. He worked as an analysis android. There is also Robota from Timeranger. Timeranger also had Tak...
