I wrote a post where I raised my ever-changing opinions on Gougou Sentai Boukenger . Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger  aired in 2023 -- the same year as Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers' anniversary . I even felt King-Ohger probably felt that it was going to be that signal that Super Sentai was getting ready to be enshrined at Toei HQ as a museum relic. I decided to revisit the Corona Aurora plot from Power Ranges' Operation Overdrive . It was all because of King-Ohger's 18th episode , where the Founder's Crown was introduced as a plot device. It's a relic of Shugoddom that was introduced sometime later as a moving plot device. Still, I can't get over how the concept was almost from Operation Overdrive . The Battlizer that Kuwagata-Ohger dons (the King Kuwagata-Ohger) may remind some of the Operation Overdrive Battlizer. The difference was that Red Overdrive Ranger merged with Sentinel Knight to create the Battlizer. This Battlizer seems almost unintentional. After all...

  Yawn! Bored? I can't be sure. I was thinking about how No. 1 Sentai Gozyuger was overshadowed by Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger for two years . Right now, I have decided to write this post for fun. It's no secret that I've compared both Kamen Rider Saber and later King-Ohger  to Mystic Knights of Tir Na Nog . I looked into the show and thought about how Mystic Knights failed (and it was a huge, ambitious project) vs. how King-Ohger (25 years later) managed to fix things. In fact, it seems Toei had seldom made "pseudo-sequels" for Saban Entertainment sometime later . Now, it's time to dig into the essay... I. The recent termination of Maya Imamori is something I consider ALL TOO EXTREME . I pointed out the problem that No. 1 Sentai Gozyuger may have been a result of a premature celebration. If we look into the cycle, G ozyuger is actually Super Sentai entry NO. 49 NOT ENTRY NO. 50 ! The celebration feels very PREMATURE. If we need to take a look back, we had anniversaries ALWAYS by entry number and NOT by Himitsu Sentai Goranger's birthday. Some Super Sentai series will and DO get overshadowed. In this case,  Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger didn't just cause a two-year time skip . King-Ohger also created the scenario where it actually created a TWO-YEAR SHADOW.   Several character songs don't get used in-show, presumably due to time constraints. Most of them are simply treated as supplementary songs. Some got played in-show (or in a special). However, there doesn't seem to be time to play all the bonus tracks. Some of them only get a TV-sized edition. I'm not a big fan of most Super Sentai opening songs these days. I watched King-Ohger in Space . It was just another "special episode" instead of an hour-long movie. Yes, the whole web special was only 17 minutes and 49 seconds long. It would've probably been better to save it for next year or put it into the Space Squad movies -- something that's probably in Development Hell now. I watched the short film and I'd like to give my thoughts. Watching King-Ohger from start to end last 2023 was something. I still have that hangover feeling. It was like attending a party every Sunday from March 5, 2023, to February 25, 2024 . So festive that it decided to even stretch things out by being part of the same continuity as Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger . It's usually established that unless specified -- most Super Sentai entries (or seasons as Power Rangers fans call it) usually take place in their own Universe (or continuity) .   This is an idea that came to mind but I was hesitant to write it. I'm still stuck with Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger and not too excited about Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger -- even NOW! It's probably because King-Ohger felt so different it's more than just something new. I felt King-Ohger's innovation was highly ambitious! It felt more like a serialized Anime series than a Super Sentai . Toshiki Inoue made a comeback in Avatar Sentai Donbrothers -- something I enjoyed more than Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger . With Inoue's return -- I was excited and worried at the same time. Inoue is among the writers who got overused. I even remember a rumor that Kamen Rider Zi-O's head writer would be Yasuko Kobayashi.  As I did more research on Kobayashi -- she also wrote for Attack of Titan -- something I only discovered by researching about her! Some time ago, I wrote a comparison of Haruka Kito with Yoko Usami and Zoey Reeves . I was putting this wacky post for a long time. I did see several photos of actress Erica Murakami (who's half-Canadian, I want to know her real surname) without her wig. What might not be easy to notice is that she does bear certain resemblances to actress Jacqueline Scislowski. The characters of Himeno Ran and Zoey only have yellow spandex in common. Both actresses were also born in 2000.  Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger might be a celebratory season after all . I feel like many events that happen within the show are Easter Eggs towards several very old shows. Heck, I even feel Jeramie Brasserie himself has to be a reference to Japanese Spider-Man way back in 1978.   That's all before Haim Saban produced what I'd dub as Saban Spider-Man in 1994. Amid the airing of Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger -- we have this update on what's probably rightfully delayed. I confess that I'm still stuffed from the Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger hype and I feel there's a lot of them.  An update from Tyuyoshi Hasashi has an unsurprising twist -- the actor will be voicing the main villain Donking -- a possible reference to the boxing promoter Donald King. Capcom already created its controversy when Balrog's Japanese name was actually MIKE Bison -- a clear reference to MIKE Tyson. Donald King was a notorious figure and Tyuyoshi also had a boxing role in one episode of Tokosou Sentai Dekaranger . However, it doesn't seem that Tyuyoshi will show up in the flesh and will just be there to voice the notorious kingpin. Toei also shows its bad habit of recycling props a lot -- any fan of Tokosou Sentai Dekaranger will know the design was from a guest villain named Tylerian Durden -- the main antagonist of the Fight Club series. SuperSentai2023 Instagram Super Sentai was trying to stay afloat more than once. The reboot treatment has been working wonders as long as it caters to children . What I never noticed is that Super Sentai tried a new plot with the lovable nerd heroine. Power Rangers fans may raise Kendrix Morgan due to her wearing glasses. The difference is Kendrix wore spandex and fought bad guys. However, most of the lovable nerds here minus Yayoi Ulshade aren't ranger-type characters. Maybe, three out of four of them have really bad eyesight -- not good for battles! However, they made up for it with their intellect. Yes, not all heroes go out into the battlefield and fight. Some are the BTS encouragers like Alfred Pennyworth in Batman . Miho Nakamura was the laboratory assistant at Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters . The show does have some similarities to Power Rangers RPM like having a sentient virus Big Bad. I like how the Energy Management Center gave a commander in Takeshi Kuroki (too bad the actor ...

  The passing away of Shelley Duvall a few days ago made me rewatch one episode of  Faerie Tale Theatre . I rewatched the episode "The Nightingale" which had white people play as Chinese characters. The episode was aired on May 10, 1983, and Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger premiered on March 5, 2023. It was Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers' 30th anniversary. It was the 25th anniversary of Power Rangers in Space , Man in the Iron Mask , and Mystic Knights of Tir Na Nog -- which may explain the show's awkwardness.  The more I look back at the earlier episodes -- it becomes obvious that Chikyu has some very Western-like civilizations. I could always get over N'Kosopa and Toufu getting played by East Asians. However, it's blatant that Shuggodom (from the Japanese words protect and kingdom), Gokkan (Midwinter), and Ishabana (coming from the words doctor and flower) are based on Western civilizations.
