Super Sentai Lovable Nerd Heroines

Super Sentai was trying to stay afloat more than once. The reboot treatment has been working wonders as long as it caters to children. What I never noticed is that Super Sentai tried a new plot with the lovable nerd heroine. Power Rangers fans may raise Kendrix Morgan due to her wearing glasses. The difference is Kendrix wore spandex and fought bad guys. However, most of the lovable nerds here minus Yayoi Ulshade aren't ranger-type characters. Maybe, three out of four of them have really bad eyesight -- not good for battles! However, they made up for it with their intellect. Yes, not all heroes go out into the battlefield and fight. Some are the BTS encouragers like Alfred Pennyworth in Batman.

Miho Nakamura was the laboratory assistant at Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters. The show does have some similarities to Power Rangers RPM like having a sentient virus Big Bad. I like how the Energy Management Center gave a commander in Takeshi Kuroki (too bad the actor Hideo Sasaki has pending charges of sexual assault) and had an assistant. Having Kuroki act like Colonel Truman from RPM (while having an assistant) gives some sense of realism. Miho is practically the Dr. K of the show. A shame really that the Messiah Virus wasn't allowed to destroy the World of Go-Busters -- presumably because of the rumors the world will end in 2012! 

The following year, we have Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger. I think Yayoi hasn't been fleshed out or not much was done with the character. Yayoi only showed up 18 times for a series that was meant for an ENTIRE YEAR. Heck, I'll admit Kyoryuger nearly made me quit Super Sentai. Right now, I still feel I dislike Kyoryuger and its localization called Power Rangers Dino Charge. Yayoi's American counterpart Kendall Morgan can be given credit for having more screen time. So yeah, I think Dino Charge did a few things better than Kyoryuger like Kendall and the cast not being hyper. However, I'll just treat both shows like a food item that I dislike but respect. 

Morfonia works as Rita Kaniska's personal secretary (and closest friend) in Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger. I guess Morfonia's eyesight is so bad that sending her out into extreme battle is a bad idea. I feel Rita Kaniska is just fortunate she's got Morfonia as a friend. Morfonia temporarily became ruler of Gokkan when the monarchs did some crazy stuff. Rita allowed herself to be locked for a leave. Morfonia's character makes me wonder what possibly happened behind the scenes. Was Yanma originally meant to be the nerdy character but producers approved of a punk inventor instead? IMHO Yanma could've worked as a weaker but smarter character like Billy Cranston in Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers or Nagare Tatsumi in Kyukyu Sentai GoGoFive. Instead, that honor went to Morfonia. Morfonia becomes the supportive geek that keeps Rita's rage in check.

Lately, we have Shirabe Saibu in Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger. The character shows up every now and then as an agent of the International Space Agency (ISA). However, the character hasn't been building gear like Miho or Dr. K. Instead, Shirabe is sent as an investigator to aid the rangers in their fight against the Hashiliens. Presumably, Shirabe's real role is to keep an eye on peace and order on Earth. I wonder how Shirabe will be dealt with as she tries to understand the heroes better.
