GoGoFive VS. Gingaman: A Nightmare Fuel Of A Super Sentai Crossover Movie

With GoGoFive's 25th anniversary - I'm writing this entry while I'm SNAILSPEEDING on Boonboomger. Maybe, I want to keep saying that the power of Lightspeed is TOO GREAT to be handled by "unremarkable civilians". This movie has some inconsistencies that wouldn't make it canon. This movie has some bizarre scenes. One can ask, "Do they even show this to kids in Japan?" Warning: This movie has some scenes of blood that can't make it past TV-Y7-FV. This movie can be terrifying even if it's supposedly aimed at children.

The introduction of non-canon villainous family members may have started here. Other non-canon crossovers gave villains a non-canon extended family like in Hurricanger vs. Gaoranger with Chuzubo's brother Chubozu, Bacchus Gill in Go-Busters vs. Gokaiger (which the latter still had their powers), and would Hizumira from Gingaman vs. Megaranger even count? This film gave us Darkness King Gill - a villain introduced as Grand Bitch Grandienne's oldest son. Pretty much, it's like how Cooler was introduced as Frieza's older brother in the Dragon Ball Z movie Cooler's Revenge. Pretty much, it's like the Dragon Ball Z movies where certain events tell you RIGHT ON YOUR FACE it can't be canon.

It's VERY random that I'm bringing up Cooler's Revenge out of the blue. Series-wise, Zylpheeza is introduced as Grandienne's oldest son. Was it supposed to be a plot twist or what? However, there are details here that would bring up why the movie was just a what-if scenario. Cooler's Revenge showed Gohan still having a tail and Goku can't easily go Super Saiyan against Cooler. The GoGoFive team was already able to use Victory Mars at FULL POWER when they shouldn't. That one event could be easily overlooked. In short, Gill is just as non-canon as Cooler as a villain.

Gill does the unthinkable through. Most Super Sentai villains today are near TV-Y7-FV in terms of plots. Gill's plot to use human blood to release the Infernal Dark Hell Beast. Minor spoilers: Gill eventually offers his own evil blood to finish the ritual! Obviously, GoGoFive has to get involved. However, Gill's just freaking powerful that the Gingamen are needed. The horror may have caused parental outrage. The movie premiered while Timeranger was airing. Another noteworthy non-canonicity is that the GoGoFive siblings NEVER mentioned the Gingamen in their crossover with the Timerangers. IMHO I think Gill may have fused himself with the beast in the process. Regardless, this was one nightmarish scene. This form was later used as Trakeena's final form in Lightspeed Rescue's crossover with Lost Galaxy. Well, Trakeena's just that popular to Power Rangers fans so it's only fair she gets that upgrade!

My theory is that Gill was a rejected idea because he'd be too cruel for continued use. I had that idea with Cooler in Dragon Ball Z why Frieza is canonically an only child. The purpose of the movies would be all about money. Was there a special event when this was released. I feel Gill was really Too Cool to Live. Salamanedes was even amazed at the cruelty brought by Gill in this movie. The producers of the movies are given the right to contradict the canon in many ways possible. Like the Dragon Ball Z movies - they can be enjoyed while keeping in mind it's all but a What If scenario.

I guess Toei doesn't really care too much about consistency. As I heard, Toei already stated it that most Super Sentai series are independent of each other - unless stated otherwise. Though, there's the possibility Toei's already retconning stuff every now and then creating that highly contradictory Super Sentai timeline
