No Summer Hiatuses For Super Sentai

It's no surprise that Power Rangers Beast Morphers is now on hiatus thanks to Nickelodeon's sloppy scheduling. So what's the point of having a two-season split for Power Rangers? None! With that in mind, I decided to write a new article where I'd talk about the fact that there's no summer break for Super Sentai (and in extension Kamen Rider). While Super Sentai does suffer from some issues such as writer/producer burnout, a mismatched writer/producer tandem (which I think happened during Ninninger) and maybe mixed audience reception (ex. Lupinranger vs. Patranger has lower than expected toy sales while possibly receiving praise from older audiences) but there's really no summer break!

Summer in the astronomical point of view (which is based on equinoxes) will occur on June 22, 2019, and end on September 23, 2019. Can you imagine what if Super Sentai decided to take a summer break rather than keep itself going as a yearlong show? It wouldn't be a good thing and Power Rangers' current dwindling performance is proving it. Do you remember how it took TWO YEARS to complete one show? So why is Power Rangers having that summer hiatus then suddenly it returns as a "super season" -- it's just so unnecessary to split it into two seasons. Summer is the time for vacation and promotion. It's so baffling why Power Rangers has been doing it since Power Rangers Samurai.

The results of Power Rangers' summer hiatuses have not been good. There's a lot of backlogs. Since it took two years to finish Power Rangers Samurai -- Power Rangers Megafail ended up mixing ideas from Goseiger and Gokaiger. Power Rangers Megafail ended up showing in 2013 than 2012 and ended in 2014. All the while Toei ended up releasing Gokaiger, Go-Busters, Kyoryuger, and ToQGer all the way from 2011-2014. Go-Busters was skipped in favor of Kyoryuger then ToQGer and Zyuohger were both skipped. Now, instead of getting Kyuranger -- Hasbro decided to pick Beast Morphers and it's uncertain if they can really save Power Rangers. That's a lot of backlogs compared to how Power Rangers operated in the past where a Power Rangers version came out after the Super Sentai counterpart is finished. It's like GoGoFive was in 1999 and Lightspeed Rescue was in 2000 then we had Timeranger in 2000 and Time Force in 2001. That's a thing long gone thanks to Nickelodeon's lousy scheduling.

Super Sentai not taking a summer break is better than Power Rangers' summer hiatus. Can you imagine if fans of Super Sentai will have to freaking wait for nearly an entire summer before we get to see the continuation of the show? Beast Morphers already has introduced its sixth ranger. Then why do viewers of the said show will have to wait until August something to see the brand new episodes? Super Sentai has been taking the summer opportunity with vacation episodes (which may also be a form of tourism campaign such as Carranger at Nasou Kougen) or to sell more toys. The summer episodes did present some good stuff like Carranger taught us not to ruin children's vacations. Then there's also the summer movies at the same time.

It reminded me of how Gokaiger up to well Lupinranger vs. Patranger had their summer episodes and summer movies. So where's the Power Rangers summer episodes from 2011 up to present? You guessed it -- NONE! The Power Rangers franchise under Nickelodeon's rather stupid schedule is failing to take advantage of the summer break! This time we're getting a Ryusoulger movie and a Kamen Rider Zi-O movie. There may be some upcoming summer-themed episodes too. Not for Power Rangers -- it's all thanks to Nickelodeon getting from bad to worse with its decision making!
