Super Sentai New Year Episodes That Happened Before The Year Ended

Granted, there's no Super Hero Time this Sunday. Old-school Super Sentai also had times that they didn't air a New Year's episode after Christmas week. I decided to do a fun, silly post on Super Sentai New Year specials that happened before January arrived.

Megaranger's New Year special was more of a clip show than a regular episode. Kenta accidentally loses his digitizer and he must find it. It's a weird clip show episode. What's with Super Sentai and the occasional clip show? This was also written by Yasuko Kobayashi.

Gingaman tries to commemorate the end of 1998 by remembering their adventures. For me, it's almost close to an encyclopedia. I also remembered how the anime series Yaiba: The Legendary Swordsman had an episode where they celebrated a party for Yaiba - recalling all his past adventures. This was written by Tetsuo Okita.

Do you remember the Y2K scare? Well, it was the day after Christmas when this episode was aired. The GoGoFive siblings are trying to protect their data. Mint also does cause a scare. It's really pretty nostalgic to take a look at this weird clip show written by Ryota Yamaguchi.

Timeranger's New Year episode is a hilarious clip show. Not really if you consider that they could be kicked out for being unable to pay rent. It also features another good side of Naoto who offers to pay them up for cleaning up the V-Rex. Yamaguchi also wrote this one.

ToQGer has a new year clip show that would lead to the finale arc. I may consider ToQGer to be the lowest point in Kobayashi's career but this was an interesting recap episode. The ToQGers do still have lots of growing up to do since they're children stuck in the bodies of adults after all, right?

If there's any redeeming factor for Ninninger - it's Nobuhiro Mouri! The same guy would later be the reason why Kamen Rider Zi-O didn't sink along due to Kento Shimoyama.  This has a New Year clip show with the Ninningers tested by Shurikenger himself.
