Ryusoulger 42 - Decisive Stage

Well, Ryusoulger is nearly coming to its end. This would be the final stage act. This week's episode features the final battle of Wizeru. Last week's preview gave it that he'd give his all. But I do find this episode too be somewhat flamboyant.

I find the opening of this episode to be kind of funny. Creon is seen unloading stuff. It's also discovered that Ui may finally be a director. I thought Ui's involvement would have dragged into the plot but she just disappears. The Ryusoulgers are caught in the theatrical environment of the Druidons.

I don't know what's with Wizeru. He's doing his do-or-die mission but he could still afford to be flamboyant. Personally, he could have just launched a missile at the house of the Tatsuis and pronto. Instead, he goes to execute a rather half-brained plan. Some Toku villains in the past would launch a real desperate action like Zimba's death duel, Jarmin's Kuroko Bouma, or Rehda unleashing the Chomajin Bouma. This one just gets stupid.

Behind the scenes we have Creon and the Phantom Menasaur directing the script. Are we having references to the Phantom of the Opera? The host is a director named Tamada. Tamada wanted to create a hit so badly he made that Menasaur possible.

After the dance show - we get Romeo and Juliet. Is the show now trying to ship Canaro and Asuna? This one has them with a brilliant plan. Canaro does show himself as a good actor. Canaro as a desperate romantic and he loves the novel Romeo and Juliet. Wait, how did he even access that novel if he spent a good time under the ocean? Regardless, no time to question logic now. I love how Canaro and Asuna fake a suicide act by drinking a collapsing potion.

Wizeru finally challenges Koh to a final battle. Koh transforms into Ryusoul Red. Personally, I find the final battle between them kind of corny. He's just doing wirework here on stage rather than an epic battle. Given, Wizeru is a stage magician themed villain so I need to cut some slack. The other Ryusoulgers defeat the enlarged Menasaur.

Druidons have feelings too. Creon acknowledges the bond he has with Wizeru. Wizeru doesn't immediately die. Ryuoul Red transforms back to Koh and walks away. Wizeru finally dies but not in the typical dramatic explosion. Somehow, I feel sorry for Creon here!

Next week, Masaru Nagai arrives as Master Black. As it's confirmed by the title - Eras-Sama is female. Will Eras get a real form eventually for the finale? Okay, I hope that Eras will have a human form, get Aya Sugimoto to be Eras, and maybe, we do need an incredibly crazy plot twist.

Additional notes:

Personally, I remembered hearing years ago that Nagai himself actually disliked Timeranger and his role as Time Red. How true is that? The same kind of rumor did coincidentally hit Jason Faunt of Power Rangers Time Force and Joe Odagiri of Kamen Rider Kuuga. Coincidence? Faunt and Odagiri did shoot down the rumors themselves eventually. Did Nagai did the same thing and I never noticed it? Maybe he did. If he did hate Sentai then he wouldn't be doing this? He's got better opportunities but why guest star as Master Black on the year Timeranger turns 20 years old? Hmmm... think about that!
