Kiramager Episode 2 - Leader Certification
Well, it's too early to determine where Naruhisa Arakawa stands, right? Granted, he did write some good episodes for Kyuranger, Lupinranger vs. Patranger - though his Ryusoulger episodes are meh. Though, it's too early to determine whether or not Kiramager will actually improve some stuff ToQGer started (imagination power) or will it be Arakawa's lowest? Now, it's time to for another Kiramager episode review.
This new episode features the unlikely choice for a leader. Back in the Planet Crystal - whoever has the highest imagination power becomes the leader. Juru doesn't feel worthy to be a leader since he's a teenager and the rest are adults. Rui feels skeptical about Juru's appointment as their leader. That just reminds me of Gaoranger where Gaku wasn't too happy about Kakeru becoming the team leader. Meanwhile, Sena has something to do which gets in the way of her duties.
Just then, a Goranger-esque monster appears. This one is called Rugby Jamen. They are missing one member so it's not going to be easy. The whole use of football just reminds me that some Toku actresses are marrying athletes. A delibarate stab at fanboyism? Maybe.
Meanwhile, we do get a bit of a reference from GoGoFive or is it? The flying machines combine into Sky mage to save a family from certain death. Though, I'm probably still preferring that scene in GoGoFive's walker mecha turning out fires in the city.
Right now, I do feel a bit of Bioman vibes here. Sena does try to leave the team because her stand-in got sprained. She's concerned about winning the medals for Japan. It's a bit of Mika and Jun here. Jun in Bioman had to make a decision about winning Olympic medals for Japan vs. Earth's safety. This creates the problem that there is ONLY ONE SENA.
A bit of funny imagination power. Princess Mabushina reads a sad story and cries diamonds. I'm suddenly reminded of that episode in Yu Yu Hakusho where Hiei's sister Yukina would cry precious gems. Then there's also that dog in Gumby that cries pearls. Regardless, would Mabushina require to weep every time? Now that's not very good, is it? Then again reading sad stories or sad memories can stir one's imagination, right?
There's the use of the Gemini power to create a replica for Sena. Does that mean Sena was leaving? Nope. Sena realizes the team needs her. At first, it's Sena's duplicate that goes. However, Sena reveals that she's the real one and the duplicate hands over the Kirameichanger to her. I just love the use of her quick speed to save the day.
Meanwhile, it's time to form the giant robot Kirameizin into battle. They also fight the Jamen Beast named Rugger Ligany. So why are the human-sized monsters of the week accompanied by a different kind of monster? Will this be the trend of the show? I guess it'd be pretty much like in Battle Fever J and Go-Busters, right?
Next week does have a bit of comic action as the preview suggests. It looks like a lesson in teamwork is badly needed.
