Jetman Episode 21: The Jetman Episode That Gets Me Somewhat All Too Emotional For Several Reasons

This episode of Chojin Sentai Jetman was first seen by me when I was already 13 years old. It's pretty much I'm stuck in the desire not to grow up and the desire to grow up. What wasn't helping the situation This episode does raise my emotions as the years go by. It also reminds me I had an obsessive crush on a girl who looks like Sayuri Uchida (she's been married for some time now though) while I was watching this episode as a teenager.

This episode has Ako get rid of her old teddy bear which is in quite a bad shape. Okay, maybe not. She could've had it repaired in a shop but I guess she's gotten too fixated with making money. However, the years of affection she poured over that teddy bear really created a disaster of a monster -- at least for Vyram! The monster both had the detached eye and missing ear of the teddy bear. I really remembered that I ended up dumping my X-Men Wolverine action figure from Toy Biz after I broke it as a teenager. It was a hard thing to see some of my troll dolls go but I had to do it.

This was one of those moments Sayuri gets dramatic. I thought about how that specific girl I liked as a teenager somehow had those environmental concerns. Like Ako, she was very tone-deaf and sported a similar hairstyle. But unlike Ako, she stands out in her class as one of the most intelligent ladies and was from a well-to-do family. The episode showed the wasteful brothers who were making the dump have more waste than it should. A lot of stuff thrown away were brand new. Ako later had the Trash Jigen live in the dump since she can't have walking trash around her -- he's too full of germs!

The episode has some strong emotional drama. Maria turns Trash Jigen into a monster. Ako tries to plead with Trash Jigen to stop but realizes he's out of control. Ako has no choice but to go and fight. However, a scene of a little girl crying while holding a doll causes much pain to the monster. Trash Jigen reverts back to normal so Maria destroyed him. It was sad to see it go off in a teddy bear-shaped light.

Worse, Ako ends the episode crying in despair. I just wanted to reach out to her and comfort her in that scene TBH. I still feel this episode continues to tug the strings of my heart whenever I rewatch it.
