My Random Thoughts On Boonboomger In 25 Episodes

Image
I haven't been writing episode reviews. They can be enjoying and they can be tiresome. Blogging is just a sideline. As I caught up with Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger -- I'm still hyped up with last year's Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger . Yes, I'm not going to hide that fact! It might just be a matter of taste fatigue . I won't deny that I've shifted my preference to South Korean entertainment over Japanese entertainment. However, that hasn't prevented me from at least checking out Boonboomger .  After a huge adventure in some fantasy world -- it's time to go back to Modern Japan. Maybe, it's like going back to your own country or planet after a long trip. I was already obsessed with moving Super Sentai away from Modern Japan -- in favor of other fictional settings. King-Ohger gave me that. Ucchu Sentai Kyuranger also gave me that feeling. What I tend to ignore is that Super Sentai will always have certain limits . Super Sentai operates within a certain budg

Brennan Mejia Gets Hold Of Some Kyoryuger 10th Anniversary Toys

Image
Here's a video of Brennan Mejia of Power Rangers Dino Charge reviewing the American toys vs. Japanese toys . Does Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger have some huge hype going on last 2013 or past it? Maybe I missed it last 2013 because I had Super Sentai taste fatigue. The  Kyoryuger hype and bandwagon might be just there. A Kyoryuger official English sub may be next! I'm no fan of Kyoryuger but I can understand the hype with the cool action scenes by Koichi Sakamoto. Knowing the cultural differences between America and Japan is one. The Power Rangers episode in The Toys That Made Us helped me understand why Toei allows Power Rangers to exist. I don't like Power Rangers but I understood why it had to exist. The American market and the Japanese market are two different settings. The 1990s were a different era. It's already the 2020s and the digital age is here. This video feels more like a subject for international marketing on cultural differences. In a sense, Power Rangers is st

Wacky Post: How King-Ohger's Himeno Ran Made Me Rethink Of Beast Morphers' Zoey Reeves (Updated Post)

Image
Some time ago, I wrote a comparison of Haruka Kito with Yoko Usami and Zoey Reeves . I was putting this wacky post for a long time. I did see several photos of actress Erica Murakami (who's half-Canadian, I want to know her real surname) without her wig. What might not be easy to notice is that she does bear certain resemblances to actress Jacqueline Scislowski. The characters of Himeno Ran and Zoey only have yellow spandex in common. Both actresses were also born in 2000.  Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger might be a celebratory season after all . I feel like many events that happen within the show are Easter Eggs towards several very old shows. Heck, I even feel Jeramie Brasserie himself has to be a reference to Japanese Spider-Man way back in 1978.   That's all before Haim Saban produced what I'd dub as Saban Spider-Man in 1994. I feel that Rita Kaniska herself was really named after Rita Repulsa. It's Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers' 30th anniversary. It's also the

"Kakuranger Act 3: Middle Aged Struggles": A Short Reunion Film With A Relevant Message For Youngsters?

Image
I was getting skeptical about Super Sentai reunion films. In this case, I decided to watch this Ninja Sentai Kakuranger to see how it'd go. It's a half-hour-long short film. I guess Toei has a lot of projects this time. The cast of Kakuranger all return with a relevant message. We have the following actual ages of the cast members: Teruaki Ogawa is 55 going 56 Satomi Hirose is 44 years old (youngest member) Kane Kosugi is 49 going 50 Hiroshi Tsuchida is 52 years old Shun Kawaii is 52 going 53 years old The short film's introduction has the Narrator talk about how the Internet has become toxic. As the former rangers gather -- they talk about how the Internet had become a TOXIC PLACE. Yes, even mere disagreements can turn into huge quarrels. I'm not so innocent myself either. I've noticed some YouTube videos no longer allow comments. The new generation Youkai were born from the Internet. A span of 30 years could've given birth to a new generation of Youkai.  The

My Thoughts On "King-Ohger In Space" Update From Deka Blue's Actor

Image
Amid the airing of Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger -- we have this update on what's probably rightfully delayed. I confess that I'm still stuffed from the Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger hype and I feel there's a lot of them.  An update from Tyuyoshi Hasashi has an unsurprising twist -- the actor will be voicing the main villain Donking -- a possible reference to the boxing promoter Donald King. Capcom already created its controversy when Balrog's Japanese name was actually MIKE Bison -- a clear reference to MIKE Tyson. Donald King was a notorious figure and Tyuyoshi also had a boxing role in one episode of Tokosou Sentai Dekaranger . However, it doesn't seem that Tyuyoshi will show up in the flesh and will just be there to voice the notorious kingpin. Toei also shows its bad habit of recycling props a lot -- any fan of Tokosou Sentai Dekaranger will know the design was from a guest villain named Tylerian Durden -- the main antagonist of the Fight Club series. It would be inte
