Random Thoughts on Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger Episodes 2-3

Image
As said, I'll drop by random thoughts WHEN I FEEL LIKE IT. I decided not to devote myself to episode reviews. I can say that I find myself wanting to watch more Japanese stuff after an overdose of Korean stuff. I'll give my random thoughts on the two episodes and how I felt good in one and awkward in another. Credits to Dryed Mangoez for the images  Episode 2 introduces us to N'Kosopa (an anagram of Pasokon meaning PC) The first episode does leave a weird taste of sorts. I guess the crew behind Ohsama   Sentai King-Ohger decided to throw whatever they could, AM I RIGHT? We have King Racules Hastie who's practically Captain Ryuuya - a selfish douchebag with his own agenda. Except that Racules Hastie is far more obviously evil from his name to his attire, and his mannerisms. Was the guest role of Kohei Murakami in Avatar Sentai Donbrothers pretty much a foreshadowing? Though, this episode started to break my expectations and was a pretty pleasant surprise. N'Kosopa is...

1993: A Starting Year For Toei's Daring Direction?

Image
It's been 30 years since 1993, right? I guess the 1990s can be filled with several daring turns for Toei Ltd. A rewatch of The Toys That Made Us episode about the Power Rangers franchise is there. Yes, that episode featured Toei executives, the origins based on some Japanese show (and I believe the budget got that high hence higher royalty fees), and how I still feel 1993 was a champion year for Toei's bank account . Now, it's time to do another rant which I feel doing with Toei's daring direction. Yes, we've got a lot of stuff going on! Janperson: Serve the public trust, protect the innocent, uphold the law The Kamen Rider series was pretty much on a halt. Yes, only a movie called Kamen Rider ZO came out on April 14, 1993, of that year. The now-defunct but never forgotten Metal Hero series started to experment on new stuff in the early 1990s. That's all before the formula started to return back to the Metal Heroes vs. Monster of the Week. We had the Rescue Po...

First Impressions On Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger

Image
Right now, I feel like I'm actually GLAD that we're not having another Dinosaur Sentai (the fourth one, Kishinryu Sentai Ryusoulger is FORGETTABLE IMHO). However, it seems Toei Ltd. may have been making yet another unofficial sequel for Saban Entertainment huh? After giving Knights of Tir Na Nog a "sequel" in Kamen Rider Saber (and no, I refuse to count Ryusoulger in) - I guess they're giving it with Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger. As said, I'll just do updates here when I feel like it (though I'm now enjoying more stuff on Netflix). The first episode barely scratches the surface... yet. We don't know much about how the four monarchs of the respective countries operate.  All we know is that Himeno is pretty much like Lili Roquefort in the  Tekken  series. Her status as a yellow ranger though reminds me of Summer Landsdown who had a butler. I wonder if her butler will survive though since the one from Power Rangers RPM wasn't too fortunate.  Rita Kanisuk...

My Thoughts On The Donbrothers' End Game

Image
Finally, it's time to wrap things up! I would admit that I didn't really enjoy Kikou Sentai Zenkaiger as an anniversary season. Is it me or does Junko Komura actually suck with anniversaries ? I feel that Komura's writing of Doubotsu Sentai Zyuohger could've made it nearly Power Rangers Megaforce 2.0 - pretty girls in a bad show! Still, Zyuohger still had a more solid plot   than Megaforce . Avatar Sentai Donbrothers was enjoyable though I was worried about Toshiki Inoue. Yes, Inoue (and no, not actor Norimasa Fuke) did appear in the finale in a cameo. Inoue did get permission to make a cameo in Kamen Rider Faiz but strangely never did in other entries where he was the head writer. Heck, I still wish that Yasuko Kobayashi made a cameo in Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters' finale after a rewatch! Note: Most of the photos were taken from Dryed Mangoez. I could draw some comparisons right now. Donbrothers is pretty much a Lighter and Softer season in contrast to how I used to...

Crazy Nostalgic Post: My Nightmare In Spandex Last 2013...

Image
It's really a crude joke that I'm using Jason Vorhees from Friday the 13th on this post. However, I feel that this crude joke might address my ILL FEELINGS. It's known (by now) that I don't like Power Rangers . It's also known (by now) that I dislike certain Super Sentai seasons when they're just bad for me. I can go ahead and blab at how much I think Super Sentai is better than the US-licensed localization (personal preference ONLY) then blab that some of its entries are PLAIN HORRID. I'd recall 2013 was indeed that spandex nightmare. It's two shows that really showed what I'd call extra moments of cringe. Sure, one of them is better than the other but I've got the freedom to dump them both.  That huge anniversary blunder that's Power Rangers Megaforce  If there's any Power Rangers season that defines what dragged it down - THIS IS IT! The return of Haim Saban simply relied on Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers nostalgia than seeking new ...

Finally: The Cast Of Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger

Image
It's time for the Valentine's Day reveal. I was afraid I couldn't write anything. Now, this is the time when it's time for the cast reveal. I did remember the excitement I had when Kikou Sentai Zenkaiger presented a very atypical team. Right now, I can't wait to see how Avatar Sentai Donbrothers will end its very unorthodox team with CGI. Now, it's back to regular morphing. When I heard about royalty - I felt like that Zenkaiger's formula could be reused with one human member and four monsters to serve the prince. Instead, it's back to how things are. In this case, it looks like a mixed bag. I did write about how Toei Ltd. may have written unofficial sequels for Saban's shows . I still want to call Kamen Rider Decade  the unofficial sequel of Saban's Mashed Rider . I still feel Kamen Rider Saber seemed like a continuation of the Knights of Tir Na Nog which only tried to ride on the hype of Hercules: The Legendary Journeys and Xena: The Warrior Pr...

How A Power Rangers Fan May Navigate Super Sentai

Image
Well, the 30th anniversary of Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers  is on the way, right? Well, I'd say that 1993 was the champion year for Toei's bank account . It was that time when Toei Ltd. gave the green light to Saban Entertainment to launch Mighty Morphin' into America and the world. Yes, the international market though I still find it funny how Malaysia almost banned the show for STUPID REASONS. Sure, I dislike Power Rangers but morphin ain't morphine meaning the DRUG. Super Sentai did have a few episodes where drug use was a plot. With that in mind, think of how Shout! Factory DVDs are now back on track with Hasbro. Hopefully, it can be easily available especially in Asian countries. Pretty much, I still believe that if it wasn't for Power Rangers then Toei Ltd. wouldn't have hit the American market. So, the blame isn't solely on Saban's hands but also on Toei's hands as well. Yes, I'm going to blame Toei as well. That's why I refuse ...
