Ranking the Most Kiddie Type Sentai IMO

If there were mature series, there were also the ones I could count to be too kiddie IMO.  Here are they:

Tensou Sentai Goseiger- I would rank this at number one considering my age of being 26 (or 27 by Chinese reckoning).  Most Super Sentai series for me click because they do have the common factor for children and adults but not this series.  I personally think that the story is better off with a small child.  The rest below I like them better despite their supposedly kiddie nature.

Engine Sentai Go-onger- This was a show that was for me, really funnier than Gekisou Sentai Carranger especially with the talking cars (similar to Disney's movie's Cars) and funny humor with the comic strips.  Ironically, it had a team-up with Gekiranger and Shinkenger which were both dark seasons and this one was a cracktastic season with a rather gloomy final battle.

Gekisou Sentai Carranger- I wonder if this should be here considering it had some really suggestive jokes.

Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger- The show was popular due to the fact it was targeted on children and most of the civilians they rescued were children.  There were also the child of the week which I think was okay.

Mahou Sentai Magiranger- Although I count it an awesome series, but I also put it in the kiddie list too.

Chikyu Sentai Fiveman- Oh how could I overlook this?  Fiveman in itself was pretty kiddie and it tried to go further with the annoying Five Puppets.

Gougou Sentai Boukenger- Compared to older Sentai seasons, Boukenger seemed to be more child friendly despite the few instances of heavy action.  So it's not dark nor is it light but I consider it makes it to the list.

  1. What's your definition of "kiddie"? Are you saying these shows are too light-hearted for their own good? If it's just a list of seasons that you think are light-hearted, I don't think "kiddie" is the appropriate word to use.

    Yeah, I agree with Goseiger.

Go-onger, I never found funny. It was just annoying imo. Sorry. xD But yeah, it makes the list.

Carranger does lack seriousness. But again, I don't quite understand what you're going for in this list.

    Zyuranger, yeah.

Magiranger and Boukenger I don't quite understand. They both felt pretty balanced out to me. You say Boukenger is in the middle, but you say it makes the list anyway? I don't understand.

  2. @Fantasy Leader-

The word "kiddie" I would refer to shows that will click with the very young ones over the older fans that would range from teenagers to adults.

So I kind of think that I need to really revise this entry after you posted out some possible flaws.

For me, Magiranger and Boukenger easily appeal to children compared to the more serious seasons.

Ah, then that makes sense. =D

Well, Carranger appealed to a lot of older fans too, so I personally don't think Carranger makes the list. Just my opinion though.

I personally think Fiveman would make the list as well. Maybe even Goggle-V.

  4. I would not call Boukenger kiddie at all. Sure it had some humorous moments like Natsuki's Ultimate DaiBouken rampage and Satoru's bad luck curse, but there's nothing in this series that I thought was childish. For me the most kiddie Sentai's are Go-Onger because of the engines and the cartoon strips, followed by Magiranger Magiranger because of the Magic theme and its campy nature, and third would be Zyuranger because of the fairytale setting and the child of the week syndrom. Goseiger would be 4th behind these three. Goseiger is only kiddie because of the angels motif, but other than that it seems to me like it tries to take a serious bent but fails.

  6. Can I say that I thought that Go-onger was 50 times more light-hearted than Carranger? Anyway, I really see Carranger as more of a comical show than kiddie. It's a spoof, it mocks certain Tokusatu aspects, and doesn't flood itself with seriousness. However, that doesn't mean it's a constant "LOLc0me$dy" series. It knows when to be dramatic, Carranger actually has a number of serious-oriented episodes. Not 100% darkness, but it's not 99.9% comedy. Go-onger is different, its comedy tries to only appeal to younger audiences, and it ends up being a parody of itself. Go-onger is actually kiddie.
