Nostalgia Analysis: Remembering The Time I Played The Jetman and Zyuranger NES Games!

Well it may be back in the 90s and I still remember that crappy Family Computer system... and here's some of the games I remembered playing back as a 90s child:

The Chojin Sentai Jetman NES game

This game was based on the series Chojin Sentai Jetman way back in 1991. The game itself allowed you to select five areas that you may want to play, five rangers to select from (each with different attributes and I always used Red Hawk) and at the end of each stage, you pilot the Great Icarus (for me, I'd rather have to select between two robots). There's a password system that would allow you to start where you left off at the same time. The whole game itself was good for its time. The final boss in the game was sadly Semimaru instead of the vilest villain ever, Count Radiguet. After Semimaru was defeated, we get to see an 8-bit animation of Great Icarus destroying the Vyram spaceship.

The Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger NES game

I used to think this was a NES MMPR game back then. Oh boy, I was wrong when I heard the Zyuranger theme later on. The game itself has one Zyuranger per stage, I didn't have too much of a problem with that but the game gets really boring the more you play it. It features the five main villains of Zyuranger as the bosses namely Priprican, Bukback, Totbat, Griforther and Bandora herself. There were mini-games which made you end up gambling your life as a result. For me, this game is still enjoyable but I'd pick the Super NES' version of Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers (I just rented an SNES back then) anytime if I had to choose just one.

Meanwhile, I will confess that while I heard of the Gaoranger/Hurricanger on the Playstation and Carranger on the Super Nintendo, I haven't played them myself. On the other hand, I usually prefer not to play the Toku-related video games as I myself got upset with playing the Kamen Rider-based fighting games myself (in my case the first Kamen Rider, V3, Kuuga) and I remember how awful that Kamen Rider Black game for the NES was too.

  1. Yep, it was the early 80s and NES was the thing to own. Also the U.S. release Shatterhand which is Super Rescue Solbrain.

MMPR came in the form of both SNES and Sega Genesis. SNES had a good format as it was a action game and you can pick any of the 5 rangers which starts out in pedestrian mode and morph later on. However like all SNES game, it was easy, limited on characters and no Green Ranger.
Genesis was a fighting game, it had its moment and love the access of the use of weapons such as the Ranger Sword/gun and their personal weapon and yes the Green Ranger too have both the Ranger sword gun and Zyusoken. It too would get boring after aonth of playing.

Later on with newer game consel and Sentai series it was getting more complex and creative there was a all-star game that was out on Game Cube and PS2 where you can use Sentai incarnation from Zyurangers-Boukengers but minus Dairangers.
