The Broken Super Sentai Visor

Although the picture from Toku Heroine contains pictures from Kamen Rider - there is that rare moment in Super Sentai where the visor gets broken in battle. There were already a few instances where we saw damaged suits but not damaged visors. Bioman had the scene where the heroes' suits suffered from Mason's newly upgraded powers. Flashman had Red Flash's suit damaged in a badass duel with Sir Kaura. We only saw Red Flash getting hurt and badly beaten. I think Kazuo Niibori could've retreated and let Tota Tarumi in-suit with a broken visor take over in another area. Why we never saw Red Flash's visor break there is beyond me.

Jetman did finally do the honors of giving a broken visor. Black Condor's epic final battle with Grey caused that epic scene of the visor broken. What was amazing was that the thug who stabbed Gai Yuki was actually Naoki Ofuji though I only knew it years later via the Internet. Then were there were more broken visors. Mega Black's visor broke early on when he defended Mega Red from Yugande's blast. Go Yellow had his visor break when he defended Go Blue from an explosion. Time Red's broken visor led to Mr. Asami realizing his son is the red ranger. Timeranger's finale arc had the real Time Fire (Ryuya) with a broken visor in Tac's narration. Gao Blue had his visor break in dealing with Duke Highness Ura's upgraded form. Strangely, Gaoranger was the Super Sentai series that started to tone down violence significantly after Timeranger. Geki Red had his visor broken dealing with Rio later on though it didn't have obvious blood. The Go-Busters also had theirs ruined in the finale arc. However, Jan's broken visor scene was considerably less bloody. Go-Busters had just a few scratches too. Sidenote, Power Rangers had some rare moments of broken visors too though they too are toned down due to TV-Y7-FV standards.

I also thought about some areas where the broken visor could've been used. Lost Galaxy's broken visor scene with Red Galaxy Ranger made me wish Red Flash's visor broke during his epic duel with Sir Kaura. I also thought that the broken visor could've been used in Winspector, Solbrain, and Exceedraft because they are rescue police shows. It could've been a little more realistic if we saw the visors break in the Rescue Police Trilogy. If I'm not wrong - Janperson also had his visor broken. Why it took some time for Kamen Rider to do a broken visor scene is beyond me. I also thought that maybe the broken visor scene should've happened in Kamen Rider Drive during Shinnosuke's "death" scene.

There's also that question of how filming the broken visors are done. Granted, there are suit actors and main actors who do some of their own stunts. Collaboration between the two is badly needed. I wonder what material is used in the visors. Also, there's the risk of eye injury there. Are the visors made of optical polycarbonate? Granted, I just decided to research what military goggles and visors are made of. I guess the chances of the users getting eye injuries are much less with these materials. Consider how the broken pieces fly outward during the filming. I can't be too sure but that seems to be the case, right?
