King-Ohger 14: Was Spider Kumonos The Emissary Of Hell 15 Years Ago?
This week's episode of King-Ohger starts another introduction for Spider Kumonos. Is Spider Kumonos the emissary of Hell that started the Wrath of the Gods around 15 years ago? There's a mysterious figure who's not yet revealed. All that's known was that he (or possibly she) killed Himeno's parents. My only WMG is that Desnarak VIII was the murderer all along. However, it's very easy to pin the blame on Jeramie Brasserie because he had control of the Shugods trio via God Tarantula.
The episode starts with a big spandex fight. Okay, scream all you want that's not spandex. Sure, I wanted to see the cast do more suitless fights here. However, some suitless scenes are meant more to fit into the plot than to display the main cast fighting. Here, Himeno transforms into Kamakiri Ohger and Jeramie into Spider Kumonos. I do find this fight scene rather intense. I really am scared to confront Himeno at this point. Spider Kumonos later escapes to Gokkan which may or may have not been a good idea.
Meanwhile, Desnarak VIII has a martial arts match with Amenjim (based on the Amenbo bug). I kinda like how Desnarak VIII is practically that active. Right now, I wonder if Desnarak VIII is simply hiding a more hideous face under a mask or if that hideous mask is really his face. I kinda think of Professor Monster (who really looks like a modified Doctor Doom) from Japanese Spider-Man - all before Haim Saban got the Marvel license and created Saban Spider-Man in 1994! I think Amenjim is a recycled prop from way back in Jyuken Senati Gekiranger and the face mask resembles that from Samurai Sentai Shinkenger.
It's nice to see Himeno recover the other swords. However, Himeno is still stubborn and believes that Jeramie is the Emissary from Hell that launched the Fury of the Gods. It's a tragic event that caused her and the others to ascend their thrones much earlier than expected. I'd say the Fury of the Gods event isn't exactly the nightmare fuel I expected. Sure, it's a tragic event but the way it's portrayed by the CGI isn't as scary as what was allowed in the 1990s. Anybody who saw Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger with the events of Dai Satan's arrival might be freaked out and it was well, the 1990s. I even think the final episodes of Tokosou Exceedraft were scarier in spite of the lower technology. I guess it's censorship that prevented such a frightening portrayal.
The trial of Jeramie seeks to investigate the innocence or guilt of Jeramie. herself says to Jeramie that the latter makes everything SO IRRITATING. Jeramie is speaking in riddles that would irritate me as well. I would've probably got a machine gun at Jeramie if he were talking to me. It's revealed by Morfonia that Jeramie was actually asleep for a long time. I guess that's what kept Jeramie young while the others couldn't outlive 2,000 years. Rita seems to get headaches yet again like "mother dear" Rita Repulsa and seems to have her "father dear" Lord Zedd's temper. How Rita's parents perished isn't completely explained except that they died during the Fury of the Gods.
There's really much to learn about the Fury of the Gods. It's something that might not get so revealed until the midseason or the finale. The murderer who I believe is Desnarak VIII might not be him. It could be the previous king of Shugoddom, Corsus Hastie. Maybe, that's why Racules Hastie ascended the throne that early as well. For all we know, Corsus probably hated his younger son Gira for being too weak and liked Racules for being an a**hole.
The scenes have Himeno hearing why the cartoon Moffun and Me was created. It was also here that Himeno learns what it means to be a queen. Gira also gives an important lecture. Yanma does manage to get Jeramie into the scene via a hacking scene. Okay, was that even right? Himeno gets to calm down though but for how long? I guess unlike the others - Himeno was the only one to witness her parents' death in front of her very eyes. Himeno was probably the loneliest of the five main rulers. Behind the scenes, I kinda wish Himeno had funny bumbling friends like Ben and Betty from Power Rangers Beast Morphers. Himeno could've had Ben and Betty help her out in her earlier years. Okay, I'm making those jokes because Erica Murakami kinda looks like Jacqueline Scislowski.
My disappointment this week, if ever, was that God Tarantula hasn't become Leopardon ahem Tarantula Knight yet. Instead, we see God Tarantula still fight in its beast form. I kinda like God Tarantula actually. Still, I wanted to see Leopardon ahem Tarantula Knight in action.
Meanwhile, we do get to see Kaguragi talk with Racules. Racules has kept Suzume hostage for some reason. Oh boy, this just reminds me that General Miwa from Tossho Daimos tried to get information out of Erika to where the Baamin underwater base was. I just hope that we'll see Racules attempt other STUPID STUFF such as creating nuclear warheads or recklessly shooting even innocent Bugnaroks out of his Fantastic Racism. I think we're getting somewhere here.
Next week, a plan to rescue Suzume is in action. I wonder if Suzume will be rescued on time or not. It's also getting exciting as Leopardon ahem Tarantula Knight finally shows up. I think this might be a good introduction to Jeramie as the show's version of Spider-Man. Hopefully, Racules will do something idiotically evil next week as well.
