King-Ohger 20: Duel For The Throne

Last week was practically a turn of events. Racules' inept rule nearly destroyed Shugoddam with a fake peace treaty. Was Racules planning to get all the glory for himself in destroying the Bugnarok? Gira just challenged Racules into a Trial by Combat. We had a previous Trial by Combat way back in episode 8. Racules was the first to challenge. Now, it's Gira's turn. I just love how this Trial by Combat with modern technology gag works. We've got audiences, paid hacks, and so forth. Not to mention, Shugoddom's media is so pro-Racules that it somehow works!

We have a royal wedding going on. Comments from Yanma and Himeno do make sense. Himeno finds the idea disgusting. It's a political marriage after all. Racules only wants more power, honor, and everything that he could. This marriage just ends up comedic more than disgusting in some way. Why does Suzume agree to marry Racules even if it's revealed she's just pretending to swoon over him?

Okay, I think Racules is showing signs of well, being a sadsack or an idiot. How can Racules be sure that Kaguragi wouldn't betray him again now they're, temporarily in-laws? Racules wants the lance back so he could harness the power of the Founder's Crown to its fullest. Okay, this is really dumb of Racules if you ask me! Racules seems to be the most entertaining villain the show has to offer. Racules might be in some ways an Abare Killer BUT he's become Large Ham in many ways. Well, hasn't superhero shows like putting Large Ham villain characters whether it's East or West? In the case of Japan, I think they do Large Ham villains better in their children's shows than the American audience would.

Back in Gokkan, we do get another scene with Rita. Gira's actions only served to give Racules more breathing space. Am I missing something again? I'm still laughing at how Rita quickly dismissed Racules' arrest because of that fart cushion. The laws of the World of King-Ohger just don't match with any Super Sentai before or after it. I think any older Power Rangers fan checking out this show would probably say, "Well, that's very much like Medieval shows or what?" Any diehard RPG fan might start citing games. Rita gets another migraine after Gira falls into his running gag. I even wonder if Super Sentai is Fiction Within a Fiction here. If Rita watched Ucchu Sentai Kyuranger - she would've probably screamed over the top many times with Lucky.

The next grand plan is to give the lance to Racules. Given what Jeramie did for Yanma - it's too predictable that it's a prank. The plan is to trick Racules again. Is it me or is Racules getting more stupid that he can't recognize a prank when he sees it?

Meanwhile, Boshimar returns to the palace. Racules isn't a bit pleased by the cowardice. I wouldb't immediately drop the pants here just yet. You just need to read through what goes on next. Boshimar gets a humiliating pants drop moment. If I'm not wrong, these kinds of jokes aren't allowed in Power Rangers except for that joke when Bulk ripped his pants but that was just it. This one though can't get past the TV-Y7-FV radar. I think Power Rangers probably got hit by the network with Bulk's torn pants scene. In Japan, that would've been allowed.

Desnarak VIII ain't too pleased when he was kicked out of Shugoddom. Kamejin shows up and proposes a new plan. I guess Desnarak VIII isn't too pleased with Kamejim's schemes. I don't blame Desnarak VIII actually bashing up Kamejim. Any typical villain can lose their patience sooner or later. Desnarak VIII wants to make sure he's ruling unopposed. This scene almost reminds me of Generalismo Olban's comedic scenes with Georiya in later episodes of Tossho Daimos.

Speaking of Daimos, well Racules is about to get another Miwa-type humiliation. Gira's really as mad as f*ck. The duel is broadcasted on Shugoddom's national television - the same station that tried to make Racules look good. The partisan politics may have to come to an end because of how the duel will be.

Meanwhile, we have Team Racules vs. Team Gira goes on. That fat idiot starts adoring Racules. I guess the media just loves to make Racules look good huh? However, much is about to change soon enough as the episode unfolds.

Both Yanma and Jeramie want to stop Kaguragi. Surprise, surprise, we get to see Jeramie disguised as Kaguragi. It's getting too predictable we have a fake lance that's about to be delivered. The Bugnaroks show up and there's Boshimar running. Boshimar gets his pants down AGAIN. Boshimar gets the lance or what he thinks is the lance. I must laugh at the outcome.

Gira does manage to force Racules to de-morph. Gira has a flashback of the sweet kid Racules to be. Maybe, Racules got corrupted at some point like Mikoto was in Bakuryu Sentai Abaranger. After all, I like Kuwagata-Ohger Zero is this show's version of Abare Killer. Gira still wants to redeem Racules in some way. However, Racules has his Redemption Rejection because of his pride.

I guess one fan theory is right after all. Boshimar IS actually Kamejim in disguise. The theory that Douga is Desnarak VIII is shot down. However, the absence of Boshimar during the takeover makes sense. However, it's only partly right because the REAL Boshimar has been Dead All Along. Kamejim killed the real Boshimar and assumed the latter's identity. The reveal isn't so surprising given "Boshimar's" absence when the Bugnarok took over.

I guess no amount of media brainwashing can cover up stupidity for so long. This reminds me of the Kyuranger episode where the Jark Matter owns a TV station. Racules soon snaps and starts showing his true colors. What I love about is that we get to see the cast members do more suitless fight scenes. Seeing Tasei Sakai and Masato Yano duke it out out-of-suit (before resuming the suit battle) is just fantastic. I wanted more unmorphed scenes but I guess children like morphed fights better. I guess you just gotta sell more toys. Timing unmorphed fight scenes isn't an easy job since too many might discourage Bandai merchandise sales.

Finally, loyal fans of Racules finally see him for what he is. AN IDIOTIC RULER. I'm glad to see the Fat Idiot finally break his placard. Racules' live duel couldn't edit anything out since it's a LIVE BROADCAST. How is Racules going to explain himself now that he's leaked out he's a Jerkass and Token Evil Teammate?

Kamejim is nearly destroyed but he escapes. Gira who uses the Founder's Crown finally defeats Racules. Racules is thrown off the cliff but I doubt we saw the last of him. This is after all a world where science is often defied when plot calls for it.

I believe we'll see Racules among the list of nuisance characters soon. Racules might pretty much end up like what happened to Silver in Chodenshi Bioman and Kiros in Hikari Sentai Maskman for starters. Maybe, Racules might end up like Juzo in Samurai Sentai Shinkenger or Basco in Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger. Those types of villains are opposed to both the default heroes and the default villains. If so, I wish the show can work on ways to make Racules work as a nuisance villain. If so, I kinda want to see Kei Hosogai guest star or even give tips on how to make Racules' role work. I think a few Racules-free episodes can do while the actor can come up with creative ways to make Racules work as oene.

Gira wins the duel and becomes the next king. The five kings are now getting ready to welcome the new king and leader. However, there will be some hilariousness coming up.

Next week might be a clip show or what? So Gira might undergo the same kind of trials that Lion-O had in the 1980s Thundercats cartoon or what? The clip already suggests more comedy.
