King-Ohger Gets A Two Year Time-Skip This September

King-Ohger is getting a midseason finale this month. Funny enough, it's a day before August 28, the day when Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers was born and the Toei-Saban alliance came to be. There have been some Super Sentai seasons that did a midseason finale like what happened in Kosoku Sentai Turboranger (when the lame-a** Bouma generals were finally written off in favor of the Breakout Villains, the Nagare Boma) or when Gekisou Sentai Carranger got rid of Ritchhiker so they can slowly introduce its true villain Emperor Exhaus. Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters did manage to make a midseason finale when the rangers challenged the Messiah virus (and he was written off near the year's end after his return) to make room for the more popular Enter. I guess King-Ohger is doing so maybe because the Bugnaroks aren't as cool while the cast is cool.

The recent update from Orends Range gives this detail:

The official Super Sentai Friends website announced that Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger will enter its next chapter this September.

In this next chapter, the battle between the alliance of six kings known as Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger and the Earth Empire Bugnarak has come to a close. Two years later, a new threat arrives not from the underground, but from outer space. The kings will soon face a mysterious enemy called the "King of the Universe", who said to rule the entire universe.

This is also the first time in the history of the Super Sentai Series where there's a significant time skip at the middle of the series. Most time skips in the franchise either happen at the start of the series or at the end with either an epilogue, a crossover movie that takes place usually a year after the series ended, or a Super Sentai RETURNS special. If there's a time skip somewhere in the series, it's usually a few weeks at most.

With this significant time jump, our heroic kings now sport new looks. Gira looks more of an adult now that he has longer hair, Yanma now sports a golden hairdo, Hymeno now sports orange hair, Rita now sports a shorter hairdo, Kaguragi has let his hair down and now looks wilder; and Jeramie, who recently ascended as king, now wears a cloak to signify it. The growth of each king will definitely be a hot topic about this new chapter.

More details about Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger's next chapter will be revealed at the end of the show's 26th episode, which will air on August 26th. That episode will also mark the end of the show's first half.

This is a television drama trope that's being followed. I could remember watching Return of Condor Heroes (2006) where there was a huge time jump between Xiao Longnü's poisoning and recovery. Start-Up did have a time jump of three years before the finale. Some television dramas do it mid-season. I think King-Ohger is trying to turn Super Sentai into a TV drama and it's WORKING. It did manage to work with Kamen Rider and now it's tried on with Super Sentai

Super Sentai was usually stuck with villains with Bond Villain Stupidity. The villains did a lot of half-brained plans as expected as Hate Sink characters. King-Ohger just builds up more drama than anything than it does with the typical plans since Himitsu Sentai Goranger. I kinda like how the Bugnarok are focused on trying to take over.

With the September schedule - I realized that Power Rangers Cosmic Fury (which is obviously celebratory) will also be on September 28. The scheduling with Power Rangers REALLY SUCKS. I do laugh at how the time gap is TWO YEARS. It's so incredibly stupid how each and every post-Disney Power Rangers show takes TWO YEARS to finish. Fortunately, that hasn't happened with Super Sentai and there are NO FREAKING STUPID SUMMER BREAKS. I wonder if Nickelodeon is aware that the move is a real revenue killer?

The new mysterious enemy will be from OUTER SPACE of all places. Who is the mysterious "King of the Universe" villain? We had such a villain in Ucchu Sentai Kyuranger with Don Armage. I do have a Wild Mass Guess that the King of the Universe villain was the mysterious person who murdered Himeno's parents and started the catastrophe that hit the World of King-Ohger. Meanwhile, there's no indication that Masato Yano had his flowers so Racules might be back as a neutrally-aligned villain to annoy BOTH the new enemy and the King-Ohgers. Another WMG is that the mysterious new foe might be Racules himself. This new foe from Outer Space may have been influencing Racules' evil that may have caused the strained relationship between the siblings. I even feel that this new foe may have been controlling the events that led to Iroki's rise to power. Iroki may have been just a puppet. Also, this mysterious "King of the Universe" may have been responsible for the Fury of the Gods.

Thankfully, I don't have to wait for SUMMER BREAK AFTER SUMMER BREAK (that move gives me a good reason as to why I don't like Power Rangers) to see the second half. Instead, it'll be BREAKING THE SUMMER by introducing a two-year jump and a new villain that may uncover old incidents. I really feel that the new enemy from space might be an old foe for many people in the World of King-Ohger. The Bugnarok did mention some incidents and there's more than meets the eye. I hope that his new foe who's probably an old foe to the World of King-Ohger will help solve the mysteries yet to be answered.
