Boonboomger's 12th Episode Make Me Ask, "Is Go-Onger Vindicated By History?"
So much for claiming I'm snailspeeding Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger huh? The recent episode has Yasuhisa Furuhawa resuming his role as Sosuke Esumi from Engine Sentai Go-Onger. This episode also verifies that most Super Sentai entries belong to another dimension or Universe. It's best to treat Super Sentai Strongest Battle as just another crossover event. Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger should be treated as part of the VS. Universe or a year-long crossover.
Speedor mentions that he and his partner Sosuke came INTO THIS WORLD - referring to the continuity of the Boonboomgers. Go-Onger operates with the concept of Braneworlds. I may dislike Go-Onger now but it seems it's getting Vindicated by History. Sosuke was racing across different worlds and landed in the world of the Boonboomgers. Speaking of which, Go-Onger even had a 10-year-after special (which I didn't watch and I'm no longer looking forward to Super Sentai reunion movies) - something that the better shows before and after it NEVER HAD. Jyuken Sentai Gekiranger and Samurai Senta Shinkenger never had a reunion movie.
Go-Onger is a show where I had this, "Okay, I'll give it a shot!" I enjoyed it for the crazy moments. However, watching Gekisou Sentai Carranger made me think much less of it. It's safe to assume that watching Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters (which almost feels like a sequel of Power Rangers RPM) may have caused me to dislike it. I hear many people dislike Go-Onger and how much this show and that show are better. Some even give excessive praise to RPM despite it being rushed with just 32 episodes. That's three episodes less compared to the already-rushed Dengekitai JAKQ.
However, it seems Go-Onger managed to pick some fans along the way. Yasuhisa guest-starred in Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger (though I wonder how Junya Ikeda's case is now) as Sosuke. It was not one episode but a TWO EPISODE arc. It's amazing how a show that's berated, given bad reviews by some reviewers (such as Kaiju No Kami who gave it a 1/5 rating and I don't blame him) still managed to pick up some speed. Maybe, it's not just a cult following but getting more love than it used to. Maybe, children back in 2008 liked it and toy sales were probably high at that time. I assume sometime later - these children look back to Go-Onger as a fond memory.
In my case, it's probably just a matter of preference. I find myself not liking Go-Onger after seeing Carranger's execution. However, the latest episode may suggest that Go-Onger isn't really as bad as some people may think. I still enjoy Go-Onger's environmental lessons. Go-Onger will probably get more followers even after it seemed to flunk in 2008.
