Boonboomger: The Fake Defector Cliche Fits Shashiro's Character

Fake Defector is a common trope in superhero shows. Super Sentai did a couple of Fake Defectors. However, Ishiro Meita aka Shashiro pulls what may have been long overdue. Shashiro's the resident spy. I almost feel like playing the Bass Nova from Austin Powers. Shashiro is also part of the ISA as well. This is pretty much a double-agent plot. To deceive your enemies -- you must first deceive your friends!

This has to be the longest fake defection scene in Super Sentai. Most Fake Defectors are usually done to undo the absurd villain plot of the week. This one is so convincing that you'd think Shashiro betrayed them. However, Shashiro's such an expert marksman that he's fired WELL-TIMED shots at his allies. What's with the exaggerated use of guns here? Aya Odagiri in Chojin Sentai Jetman once used a gunshot to get Ryu Tendo back on track. The "devil commander" Ibuki from Dengeki Sentai Changeman often fired a shot during military training -- without the intent to kill. What's with the extreme use of gunshots?

Shashiro's "deactivating" the Boonboom Cars is another. I suspected this was part of some plan to convince the corrupt Director Takoyaki Tokoyari. One must wonder why Shirabe never thought of such a plan at first? However, the way Shirabe talks later hints that she's discovered Shashiro's plan. I feel Shirabe's pressure was because she can't just inform the rest of Shashiro's plan. Of course, a perfect facade is needed if you intend to find the enemy's weak points!

It turns out that Shashiro uses his technological skills to foil the plot. The Hashilyens planned a massive invasion -- which he BLOCKED. The "deactivation" was all an act and it's too predictable. I can envy Shashiro's skills -- something I'll never possess! The guy's calm demeanor and infiltration all worked to perfectly with his career -- he's a SPY after all. I wouldn't be surprised if Shashiro's prepared an arrest warrant for Takoyaki errr Tokoyari BTS.

Sidenote to this...

Tokoyari's half-brained proposal to have Wairudo Spindo marry Mira seems plain absurd. However, it turned out that Mira eventually "agreed" to the wedding to get close. It's a typical heroine plot to agree to the Villainous Crush. Speaking of which, I feel Wairudo suddenly agreeing to marry Mira is OH TOO RANDOM. Some Villainous Crushes have been invested in such as Darkseid's crush on Wonder Woman in Super Friends or Sincline's crush on Farla in Hyajakuu Golion. Here? Wairudo spent his entire screen time trying to annihilate the pink rangers and suddenly AGREES to Takoyaki's (sorry if I love to pull this corny joke) proposal to marry the pink ranger?! This is also just as random as that Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers Season 2 episode where Lord Zedd wanted to make Kimberly his wife out of the blue. Didn't Lord Zedd spend most of his time trying to demolish the heroes? I feel the same kind of randomness with this plot. Why would Wairudo want to marry the pink ranger out of the blue (pun intended) after spending time trying to murder the heroes?

Did Mira secretly get contacted by Shashiro off-screen or what? It seems that Mira's frustration in marrying Wairudo is more scripted. Mira easily "agrees" to marry Wairudo to get close to him. It's also there that Shashiro may have told the others of his "grand scheme". Yes, it turns out that the monkey Shaishai Sacurar is the source of Gyausholine for Wairudo. Wairudo's wedding being a trap was just too obvious -- it's a typical cliche! Shashiro enters and reveals that he's practically fixed Megazord security. Apparently, Genba's fight with Shashiro was meant to be a convincing play. Remember Shashiro is a marksman expert -- he's missing on purpose!

A false consent? A spy's fake defection? Shashiro probably recommended the marriage to Takoyaki. Mira says she's "made up her mind" to marry Wairudo. Seeing Mira talk with Taiya so confidently suggests she's actually "part of the plan". If only Wairudo thought of brainwashing Mira first but that may fail too. Either way, I'm amused at how Shashiro's Fake Defection worked well!
