  Chikyu Sentai Fiveman is that near-franchise killer that got Vindicated by History. By now, I realized that it was a necessary failure that would give us Kyukyu Sentai GoGoFive . Fiveman even has an OFFICIAL DVD release -- something that I never thought would work! I've actually used GoGoFive to spot most of the mistakes done with Fiveman than I would to with Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue . I looked at Fiveman and thought of something I berated a lot -- the Meadow/Vulgyre Connection . I revisited the Wizard of Oz movies starring the late Judy Garland. The Great and Magnificent Oz was actually a projection of a con man named Oscar Diggs. The books gave a different story. Oz showed the illusion of a green fairy to the Scarecrow. This makes me think that what if the idea of Empress Meadow was actually done in the same vein? Was I too harsh with the revelation especially after seeing Grand B*tch Grandienne in action in GoGoFive ? Episode 42 may have been the hint many fans missed. ...

Do I really care too much about polls? I've also been a fan of lesser-known series such as Kamen Rider BLACK RX , B-Fighter Kabuto , and Kamen Rider Kiva . I didn't want to react to this initially.   I wrote how Kosoku Sentai Turboranger could've inspired  Gekisou Sentai Carranger and Denji Sentai Megaranger . Chikyu Sentai Fiveman was a near Franchise Killer (and ratings started to tank with Turboranger ). However, Fiveman ends up getting Vindicated by History as the years went by. In fact, a Shout! Factory DVD release didn't stop the official Super Sentai DVD release -- despite the fact the MUCH SUPERIOR Kyukyu Sentai GoGoFive came out first. I'd like to do a rundown on what Fiveman actually contributed to the franchise! The theme that involves... FAMILY! Intentional or not? I've seen Mahou Sentai Magiranger (though the youngest is the red ranger), Fiveman , and GoGoFive . All three series might be considered the SIBLING TRILOGY. Should I be surprised that Sumiko Ichikawa's actress Maya Imamori (currently 18 years old, born in 2006) is half-Filipino? There are several actresses in Japan born to Filipino mothers. Sayaka Akimoto (who's just that OBVIOUS due to her Malay features). Yu Takahashi who was in Kamen Rider Kiva . I once thought Rin Takanashi was half-Pinay back in 2009, but never admitted that speculation. Apparently, Maya is the first half-Pinay to be cast as a ranger in Super Sentai .  Exploring the racial diversity of both Japan and America I wrote an article explaining Power Rangers' multiracial diversity . No. 1 Sentai Gozyuger has been slowly reviving Megazords. The first Megazord brought back was Daizyujin . Now, it's Gao King from the ANNIVERSARY series Hyajakuu Sentai Gaoranger . They could've brought back Battle Fever Robo from Battle Fever J first. Instead, we had Daizyujin followed by Gao King. Gaoranger was localized ( which is still a form of adaptation, business-wise ) into Power Rangers Wild Force .  The recent Universe Warrior Red Ranger is Gaia Todoroki -- an ANIMAL PROTECTION OFFICER. I did some research realizing that while Gaia is supposedly a feminine name -- Japanese tend to use the name GAIYA. So I'll call Todoroki here as GAIYA NOT GAIA. Maya Imamori's half-Filipino heritage (mother side, though she might have Chinese blood running in her veins) can trigger me. However, I assumed that either Rin Takanashi or Kazusa Okuyama (both pink rangers) were born from Filipino mothers in 2009 and 2018. This reminds me of some strange, random throwback I had from my childhood. For some reason, Power Rangers didn't reach the Philippines until 1995 instead of later in 1994. Were there some issues in logistics or what? Not all Power Rangers seasons even air in the Philippines. As per marketing decision -- Power Rangers was put into the Philippines instead of Super Sentai  -- presumably due to the Philippines' status as a FORMER AMERICAN COLONY . Gozyuger's latest episode provoked my thoughts. I couldn't watch more older Super Sentai series   if it wasn't for the dawn of the digital age. Back then, you miss an episode and the chances of you seeing it, are DRAMATICALLY SLIM. Renting a Betamax or VHS back then was THAT DIFFICULT. Long lines and rental deadlines were the thing. I can remember my late paternal grandmother borrowing tapes and ordering us to return them WEEKLY! Today, it's the digital age and who knows that Toei's global expansion plan may include streaming the Japanese product on Westernized digital media.
