The Gaoranger Arc And Gao King's Return, After Daizyujin

No. 1 Sentai Gozyuger has been slowly reviving Megazords. The first Megazord brought back was Daizyujin. Now, it's Gao King from the ANNIVERSARY series Hyajakuu Sentai Gaoranger. They could've brought back Battle Fever Robo from Battle Fever J first. Instead, we had Daizyujin followed by Gao King. Gaoranger was localized (which is still a form of adaptation, business-wise) into Power Rangers Wild Force. 

The recent Universe Warrior Red Ranger is Gaia Todoroki -- an ANIMAL PROTECTION OFFICER. I did some research realizing that while Gaia is supposedly a feminine name -- Japanese tend to use the name GAIYA. So I'll call Todoroki here as GAIYA NOT GAIA. It's a sob story with Luna -- who SPOILER ALERT -- DOESN'T MAKE IT! Super Sentai may have been hit with censorship since 2001 (and yes, Gaoranger was getting tame and blood has been ridiculously LOW), BUT it hasn't spared the show from rather heartwrenching moments! Luna is a veterinarian whom he developed a bond with -- his fiancée. Yeah, I wonder if I really hate the heartwrenching moment here. Again, they're probably just guest characters and may never return in future episodes!

The storyline also featured the song "Hibiki No Shirabe". The song was used during the Gao Deer episode. Some Super Sentai entries introduced sentient Zords -- starting with Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger. Gaoranger's Quest 29 featured Gao Deer's storyline. Gao Deer had a grudge against Shirogane. The storyline was carried over in Wild Force, with its own song that may resonate better with the Western fanbase. Both songs have their merits. I normally don't like Power Rangers OSTs, but I'm still a fan of the catchy Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers theme song and the Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue theme song. 

This also reminds me of Wild Force to a certain extent

I was partly reminded of Wild Force's supposed ending (above). Cole was supposed to become a VETERINARIAN at the end of the series. There can be good reasons why deleted scenes are deleted. Some of them are because they couldn't fit into the timeframe. However, I feel deleting the scene was because it's just too bonkers -- even for a superhero show! One must wonder how a jungle boy suddenly gets a license to practice as a VET?! However, there's still that short glimpse of Cole in a laboratory gown -- something that was probably overlooked in the editing process. Typical mistakes in superhero shows! The narration only tells us Cole used his talents to help animals everywhere, and not to become a vet. Gaiya is an animal protection officer. Cole might've been better off as an animal protection officer. 

Cole started off as a jungle boy. That's pretty much copying Tarzan. Kamen Rider Amazon introduced a feral character in Daisuke Yamamoto. Jyuken Sentai Gekiranger also gave a feral child in Jan Kandou -- who was raised by tigers instead of apes. However, none of that was put into Gaiya. It could be in a draft, but it was removed for some reason. Gaiya didn't show any signs of being a Tarzan-type character either. Maybe, we might see it in Univese Warrior Geki Red. Hopefully, that's going to happen.

Tatsuto Higuchi did a good job IMHO. Sure, there were no Gaoranger writers on sight. It's probably a good idea not to let Akiko Inoue write everything herself. Writers can burn out if that happens. Akiko Inoue's doing good but she's probably got lots to learn. Maybe Tatsuto Higuchi's involvement might be needed to help Akiko in future episodes.
