Just because there's no episode for Kiramager this week doesn't mean I can't write a post about it, right? Okay, there will be spoilers ahead IF you haven't watched some old-school Tokusatsu or the most recent Kiramager episode. But if you've seen loads of older Tokusatsu (which should also include old school Showa-era Kamen Rider series), the Space Sheriff Trilogy (specifically Sharivan ), or you just don't mind spoilers then be my guest. One weird scene in the latest episode of Kiramager  is the revelation about Yodonna . If you've watched it then you may notice some really intense scenes. Yodonna wonders why Carantula has talked with Emperor Yodon face to face while she hasn't. Later, it's revealed that she's actually a part of Emperor Yodon which she's not even aware of.   It was 2011 when Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger aired and now it's 2021, right? The series had its celebration when Super Sentai hit its 2000th episode on the year of its 5th anniversary . Right now, I'm even thinking that I do regret saying that I enjoyed Doubotsu Sentai Zyuohger over Gokaiger . I'd say that Gokaiger probably still stands the test of time though I'd still hate it when people think it's a cheat sheet. Nope, it shouldn't be treated like a cheat sheet. Rather, it should be treated like some kind of invitation to watch older Super Sentai series or to give tribute to the longest franchise by Toei Ltd. for all its ups and downs. The series in itself is what I'd call Toei Ltd.'s most ambitious anniversary season ever. One could think of the major milestones with anniversary seasons.   2021 is a major anniversary year for several Toku series. Some may think of the beginning of the first Kamen Rider or the 20th anniversary of Kamen Rider Agito . Now, one series also gets its 20th anniversary this year and it's Hyajakuu Sentai Gaoranger . The series itself feels like a reboot series while it's an anniversary season. The reasons are these. The Year 2000 can mean a lot of things. For some people, 2000 AD is the beginning of a new millennium - something that was emphasized in Mirai Sentai Timeranger . 2000 AD was also the beginning of a new era for Kamen Rider while I felt it was going to be the end of another Super Sentai era . The Kamen Rider franchise was going to get rebooted with Kamen Rider Kuuga . Meanwhile, Timeranger felt it was dropping hints and there that it was going to be the end of one era of Super Sentai. Just think of how the finale went with them saying a new era has begun. The post-series TV special eventually recollected all the Super Sentai ...

Granted, this year, 2021 will be Chojin Sentai Jetman's 30th anniversary. Last 2011, it was Jetman's 20th anniversary. Jetman is the series that's hailed as the series that saved Super Sentai when Chikyu Sentai Fiveman nearly ended it. Fiveman actually had issues such as Hirohisa Soda's burnout considering that he started with Dai Sentai Goggle V and didn't have a break from being a head writer. Soda's work from 1983 to 1991 as a head writer was pretty exhausting so most of the Fiveman episodes by him weren't as good as his previous episodes. There was secondary writer Kunio Fuji and Toshiki Inoue. Yes, Inoue, the guy who experimented with several concepts such as the anti-hero Ryo Asuka/X-1 Mask in Hikari Sentai Maskman . Soda's era came to an end and it was time for a transition. Before the late Noboru Sugimura - there was Inoue in his one-shot deal with Super Sentai. This week's Kiramager is what I'd call you were forced to write in a plot at a fast pace. Kiramager was affected by the Legacy Virus and I think Naruhisa Arakawa may really be burnt out. Regardless, like Ressha Sentai ToQGer , the imagination is still shining to a certain extent.  This is where things start to thicken up. Yodonna is angry that Carantula has met the emperor face to face. The Carantula that died was just a doppelganger. Meanwhile, it's the first time we hear Emperor Yodon. This reminds me of how Kamen Rider Black RX had it that Grand Lord Crisis was spoken of but never spoke until later. Maybe, some may remember how Kamen Rider Black had the Creation King of Gorgom spoken of but only speaking late in the series. Right now, I'm even comparing Yodonna to General Dasmader of Black RX . Yodonna executes her latest plan. Sena and Sayo are eating out but only for Yodonna to interrupt the meal. Is she really quite a bitch? Something revealed later will definitel...

This Christmas we get a rap battle. Granted, the writer is Ayumi Shino so I guess Naruhisa Arakawa is on break mode once again. I'm still thinking of the luxury that Arakawa got that Yasuko Kobayashi didn't get during ToQGer . Anyway, let's proceed with this rap episode. Garza is looking for Carantula. Meanwhile, Yodonna mentions some evil plan to do something similar yet different from Shinkenger . Who can remember the insulting monster in Shinkenger that spoke the brutal truth? In this case, it's a dangerous rap that gets the evil of human hearts to be utterly tactless. So, it turns out that there's also another holiday called Crystas in Crystalia. Granted, it's another planet so they get another version of Christmas.  The recent rap battle had made brooding people out of the Kiramagers. It turns out four out of five of the primary team are affected by Carantula's rap.  Even worse, Takamichi is the NEXT ONE to get hit by Carantula's dangerous rap. This...
