Super Sentai's Hopeless Romantic Rangers
Today is Valentine's Day and somehow it's become the norm to tease someone for being dateless. Well, some Super Sentai heroes are just hopeless romantics. I'd like to make a list of them just right here...
Shou Hayate/Change Griffin
Before there was Gai Yuki - there was Shou Hayate, right? He joined the military to impress the ladies which is just dumb. So, why didn't he get a mandatory haircut because his hair doesn't fit in? This guy did also nearly court Queen Ahames in disguise too. Also, there seems to be some shipping between him and Sakura.
Dai/Green Flash
While not really a womanizer - he does have a weak spot for women. He did fall in love with a flower shop owner who was never mentioned again. So, what's with superhero shows and one-shot love interests that just get forgotten? Though he does seem to put his weak spot under control due to years of disciplinary training at Planet Flash.
Kenta/Black Mask
This guy is Maskman's second-in-command with the flaw of easily wanting a woman. His first focus episode had him envying people with girlfriends then he tries to get one - only to leave her (and the show to FORGET about her) because of his duty. He also had a one-shot romance with a reporter until he saw her appetite. The show didn't explore it much though so it doesn't become a running gag. Perhaps, he just matured away from that aspect.
Youhei Hama/Blue Turbo
Part of being a teenager can be being a hopeless romantic. Though it's not fully explored but he does tend to chase girls. So, why didn't he develop a crush on Haruna? Maybe, he was shipping Haruna with Riki all along? Well, I'm with him then!
Gai Yuki/Black Condor
A random bum or thug becoming a ranger? Well, no one can know what his source of income for gambling was but he sure can survive on the roads. The guy tends to flirt with women and becomes Kaori's hopeless suitor, her boyfriend, they broke up but remained friends. I always felt his relationship with Kaori was probably the one that developed him into a better person.
Dan/Triceraranger
Well, Dan's sort of a flirt if you think about it. However, the show tends to focus TOO MUCH on the children of the week.
Kenta Date/Mega Red
The first red ranger to be a hopeless romantic. He's had some one-shot love interests that get quickly forgotten eventually. His most famous moment was when his love interest already had someone and he was heartbroken. Okay, I'd hate to admit it but I'm a proud shipper of him and Chisato even if the two didn't feel that way. Gingaman vs. Megaranger seemed to hint that he was dating Chisato even if it's obviously not canon.
Domon/Time Yellow
Well, he did become one early on when he tried to flirt with Yuuri. He was always looking for a relationship and found it 1,000 years earlier with Honami. For me, it still leaves me confused to when did Domon and Honami get intimate in Timeranger? Hard to fit event if you ask me!
Banban Akaza/Deka Red
It's really something when you consider him having one-shot love interests and not having them, right? Well, it's said he's married to Marigold already.
Hoji Tomasu/Deka Blue
There are times he and Ban fight over certain girls they find attractive - only for neither one of them to get her, right? Well, he did later date a girl named Teresa whose brother he had to delete out of duty. I don't know if his wounds have been healed. TBH, I even imagine that he and Jasmine probably hooked up at one point but he can't move on from Teresa so they broke up.
Ian Yorkland/Kyoryu Black
Yet another Gai Yuki type of character and somehow similar. I'd love to imagine him to be based on Ian Malcolm from the Jurassic Park series.
Canaro/Ryusoul Gold
The biggest award has to be CANARO himself. Hate to admit it but Ryusoulger did turn it into a rather bad running gag which I'm thankful was toned down later. Too many times I just want to shoot Canaro off as if I'm no annoying hopeless romantic myself. Just think of how many times his earlier focused episodes was him finding a bride. Later, we know he was once engaged but his former fiance dumped him.

However, Canalo/RyusoulGold may have found his so-called true love: in the form of Tsukasa Myoujin/Patren 3gou. It was Myoujin who asked Canalo for a date in a recently concluded Kishiryu Sentai Ryusoulger Vs. LupinRanger Vs. PatRanger Movie. If a sixth hero of the 4th Dinosaur Sentai is falling in love with the 3rd Pink Sentai Policewoman Heroine (after Yuuri and Umeko), then this might be a dinosaur-police couple that'll come true right before our very eyes.
