King-Ohger 21: The Challenge Of The Kings

This week's King-Ohger is more of a clip show that bridges to next week's plot. I guess we all do need a breather every now and then. Unlike the Donbrothers clip show episode - this needs to be watched to get the history of the five kingdoms. It isn't like the new year's clip shows in previous seasons where not watching them is an option. It's time to learn the history of Chikyu's five kingdoms and how the World of King-Ohger came to be. There's also the cast dancing so there's the chance that Racules is still around and we'll see more of the REAL Boshimar's past. Maybe, Boshimar's story will be explored what he was and why Kamejim chose to impersonate him.

With Racules dethroned, Daigorg starts a rampage. Man, I just love the raise the fact that Racules is such an idiot. Speaking of Racules, the actor Masato Yano did post his photo with the cast hinting that the character might return as a neutrally-aligned villain. Hopefully, a few Racules-free episodes would help Toei find its path. Daigorg meets with Gira who's the new king. Then we get an entire episode based on a flashback.

The episode has the trial of the five kings. The first king from 2,000 years ago, Ryneor Hastie, did challenge the four kings and if he lost, he'd give in to their terms. Ryneor did win the challenge AND split Chikyu into five kingdoms. I guess Racules wasn't too keen on that one and decided to undo what his ancestor did. I still feel that Corsus wasn't a good king either. I could be proven wrong though since it's just a Wild Mass Guess.

The first one has Gira failing a quiz about the Zords. Meanwhile, Douga gives an exposition of N'Kosoppa and thinks he should move there. Both Gira and Douga get hit by hilarious Anime-ish humor. We're yet to see Douga's family on-screen and they may never show up at all. Douga did mention a son who never showed up either. 

Himeno displays what might be the actress' piano skills. Maybe not. I'm not musically inclined so I can't be the judge. Gira obviously has ZERO talent in music. Meanwhile, Douga also fails miserably to apply for a job in Ishabana. I still feel using hot tea on Douga's head is a labor violation. However, it doesn't seem to be the case in the cartoony World of King-Ohger. 

The cooking contest against Kaguragi is next. Toufu is all about food. Heck, even the backstory of Toufu's past (and we'll see more of it in the summer movie) is all about how a wicked queen hoarded food supplies. I guess the three-minute mark is something. Talk about Cooking Master Boy Anime here! Meanwhile, Douga does end up getting heated up in the Kuroko outfit. Speaking of which, I kinda wish that a Shinkenger cast member will guest-star as a citizen of Toufu soon.

The final stand is the staring contest. People want to see Rita's face. Gira laughs maybe because he never expected Rita to be a pretty girl. Maybe, it's because Rita is heterochromatic. Douga gets beaten up at Gokkan. I really laughed at how Douga keeps getting beaten up.

Gira lost all the contests and has to agree with the conditions given by the king. It's the reverse of what his ancestor accomplished 2,000 years back. I pretended that Ryneor Hastie is actually Rohan from Mystic Knights of Tir Na Nog. That can't be the case since both shows are totally independent of each other. Gira admits that it may be for the best unification that the four other kings gave their conditios. Gira sees the power of what five united kings could do to defend Chikyu. 

It's nice to see Gira use his weapon before transforming. Gira shows how much worthy he is of ruling over his idiot brother Racules. Douga goes out there to save an orphan nearly crushed by Douga. The fight happens and it's going to be intense. Douga isn't going to be easy. 

Next week would probably be the introduction of a new Megazord. The castle is a Megazord? We've had Base Robos in Super Sentai. Base robots tend to either sell well or not sell well. Some of the Base Robos were used to form the Ultrazord like in Turboranger and Fiveman. Fiveman did end up wasting the Max Magma. Jetman decided not to use a giant base robot to make way for an AI-operated Zord named Tetraboy. Dekaranger's base robot Dekabase Robo must've sold well though. I can't wait to see how this castle is a Megazord plot will work.
